    The East

The east side of the city is often considered the heart of Sacrosanct. It's here were the majority of the shopping district can be found, deep in the heart of downtown. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often times, new comers to the city may be come overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever present feeling that's hardly noticed. The streets of the east side are frequented by all species as many companies are housed in the sky scrapers and hole in the wall establishments that line the streets.

    Downtown

The city has a unique skyline, clashing between modern sky rises and small victorian storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however.

Where you invest your love, you invest your life; 192.206.23.249Posted On January 19, 2018 at 11:45 AM by DAREIOS

It's not the long walk home that will change this heart, but the welcome I receive after the restart.

Dareios convinced himself a long time ago that loneliness was just part of the burden one carried in order to be immortal. Had he been aware of the "trade off" when he was first made one, those many, many years ago, still to this day he doesn't know if he would have allowed himself to suffer the same fate. Dareios may not have had a choice, he and his brother were young and easily manhandled by the vampires whom cornered them in the city that night. But perhaps if he knew, or had some inkling of what was to come... Maybe his life would have played out differently. Not that thinking like this mattered much now. Dareios was here, his cold, undead body seemingly frozen in time as the world continued to age all around him. It still felt as surreal as it sounds. Nevertheless, people - acquaintances, friends, family - come and go over the years. As such, Dareios began viewing them as chapters, mere moments in time, for the vampire. Even Dorian here, who was likely older than the vampire himself, would likely drift from him one day, be it tomorrow or many years from now. A chapter. With a beginning and an end.

The vampire forces a smile before taking another sip of his wine when Dorian mentions the 'right' person. "How did you know your beau was the one?" He counters, actually quite curious. It wasn't like Dareios to be so skeptical or cynical. He was genuinely happy for Dorian. But he was more realistic when it came to his own romantic endeavors. So many years alone proved that he was better off this way, at least in the long term.

Dareios allows a wide, toothy grin to spread across his features when Dorian accepts the chested drawer as a wedding gift. He scribbles down some notes on the sheet Aaron had laid out for him, confirming the gift and the need for quick renovations. But he was quickly distracted by the book Dorian so casually reveals. Dareios places his glass of wine down on a table and bends over to peer closely at the pages of the book. He's almost afraid to touch it directly, for fear of causing the ancient scripts some kind of irreputable harm. "Dorian, these are truly... amazing." He says almost breathlessly, in awe of the crude sketches and Da Vinci's old, smudged notes. "I can't believe you just carry this book around with you, so willy-nilly." He says with a look of concern on his face, but matched with almost deliriously happy smile.

The vampire's mind is already awhirl with the generous lump sum selling something like this could garner in some of his darker, more secretive circles. But Dareios swallows hard and pushes the thought from his mind. That was not the kind of business he wished to bring Dorian into, especially given his high profile, celebrity nature. "I'm sure the curator at history and art museums here in Sacrosanct would nearly drop dead to receive such a donation." Dareios offered. "It would certainly help elevate their status as a distinguishable institution to house something so valuable." Dareios says, realizing how this could be good for him as the mayor, and the city, too. "If you'd like, I could set up a meeting."
