    The North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high class victorian architecture. The streets are paved with stone, the buildings are made of brick, and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting. In the North every establishment is made to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - weather it be illegal or merely looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allow them the luxuries that the North provides.

Kathryn Quinn
I bet on me and my own heartbeat

Between her time in high school and college (sure she had like one or two boyfriends in middle school, but do those even really count?) Kathryn had dated quite the spectrum of guys. From the boy next door that she had her first kiss with (so I guess one of those middle school boyfriends counted after all), to the jerk of a jock that Kathryn had mistakenly given far too much of herself to only to wind up empty handed. And then there was the boy who had been perfect, who ultimately she should have ended up. Being with him had been easy, flawless, flowing. They had been accepted into the same university for their masters, far away from their town where they had both stayed in for undergrad, where she was a sorority girl and he played on the club lacrosse team. It would have been simple to go to school with him, wind up moving in together, then engaged, then married, but Kathryn couldn't bring herself to follow a boy. In the end, their breakup was like their relationship, easy and smooth. The little witch hasn't looked back, she had she little tears over the occasion. Despite how perfect they had been together, it had never felt entirely whole.

It was missing the passion.
Yeah, that thing that everyone wants.
Turns out Kathryn isn't so different from everyone else.

Taylor makes a motion, his lips were sealed, and Kathryn cannot help the little tickle of laughter that brushes her lips with feather-light touches. “Good to hear,” she says and nudges his shoulder lightly with her own.

She likes that he knows how to laugh, how to smile, and how to joke. So many people were far too serious she has found out. But Kathryn liked laughing, it was easy and light. Her grin mirrors his own as she turns those too-bright of blue eyes to his own. “Do you think you would ever go back, to where you came from?” She asks, her head tilts to the side slightly, loose curls falling sideways a little as her face is painted with her naturally curious nature.

She playfully grabs his arm as he teases her about pursing her Masters, trying to keep him from leaving the table, even if they both know he wasn't going to actually leave (well, at least she hoped so). “I mean I guess I can let you sit with me, but only for this evening,” she says, before taking her hand and brushing her hair back behind her shoulder. “Tomorrow its back to your own table, “ she says with a grin and a wink.

A smile continues to hit her face as she mentions her dad, as it always did whenever she mentioned him. She didn't know him, and she never would have had a chance to, but she liked to imagine him, imagine the stories everyone tells her about him. And Kathryn always pictures him with her smile, because, well, everyone says she smiles just like her father.

“Fairy dust? No. Actually dust? Plenty,” she laughs. Blue eyes glance down at her watch and Kathryn realizes the time. “Wow, it’s getting late, I probably need to head home…but,” she glances around until she finds what she is looking for: a pen. She scribbles down a series of numbers, double checking to make sure she has it right,. “Maybe I’ll snag us some whiskey next time I am home and we can get together again,” she says, sliding her phone number over to him. “And thanks again for saving me up there.”
