    The North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high class victorian architecture. The streets are paved with stone, the buildings are made of brick, and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting. In the North every establishment is made to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - weather it be illegal or merely looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allow them the luxuries that the North provides.

bee to the blossom, moth to the flame; each to his passion; what's in a name? 166.137.136.91Posted On December 28, 2017 at 5:53 PM by MIYAKO AIKEN

There is hesitancy in Miya’s steps as she stands several feet away from the familiar man, not entirely sure it was the mayor, but the moment he turns around, he can see recognition dawning in his eyes as well. She’s delighted that he seems to share the same enthusiasm as herself, his smile matching her own as she grins at him, happy to see that he had remembered her. Nodding her head as he states her name, “You have a good memory, Mr. Auerbach,” she says pleased. The petite woman hardly felt like she was memorable let alone recognizable and it felt nice to have made a lasting impression on the man next to her. His next set of words has her blushing slightly, afraid she might have offended him in some way by calling him by his last name. “Well, you don’t look ancient if that’s any consolation,” she teases, taking the chair next to him as he gestures with his hand.

Sitting, she crosses her leg over the other, leaning forward as she watches him. “I honestly didn’t think I would ever run into you again, you’re such a busy man,” she admits, a soft smile toying at the corner of her lips, “I also didn’t think you would remember me, its been a long time since we last saw each other,” she smiles at him, tucking her long black locks behind her ear as her chocolate eyes travel to the wine he so has in his hands. His question catches her off guard, almost entirely forgetting he had walked her home in the dark all those months ago, due to those street lights. She has to pause before she can reply as the bartender retrieves her coffee and placing it in front of her, “Oh, thank you,” she says brightly to the woman, clearly, she hadn’t intended on seating herself next to Dareios, yet here she was.

Returning her attention back to the mayor, “They were fixed the very next night,” she tells him, that soft smile so adorning her lips again, “You work incredibly fast, Dareios, I wouldn’t have thought it was possible!” She laughs brightly, bringing that coffee to her lips and taking a sip, rather enjoying that it didn’t burn her this time. As the warmth floods her body, she releases a content sigh as she inquires as to how the man had been. “I can’t imagine,” she offers a nod of her head, she barely scraped by with her finals, she couldn’t imagine running an entire city. “I’ve been great! I finally get to start my residency and I already have my foot in the door at the hospital here so I’m really thankful for that,” she grins at him enthusiastically before popping off the barstool, “Could you excuse me for just a moment?” She asks, before hurrying to her old stool and snatching her messenger bag and her jacket and returning to Dareios’s side.

Offering an apologetic smile, “Sorry, I didn’t want someone to take it,” she states as she lays her jacket and scarf over the back of the chair, followed by her bag. If she were being honest with herself, she didn’t feel safe without her bag. Hidden away she kept her pepper spray, though the canister had hardly done any good when she had it on her, it still made her feel safer, considering recent events with a vampire attack and harassment at the university. Truly, she hadn’t told anyone about either events, let alone her roommate, she didn’t want anyone to think that she wasn’t capable of taking care of herself, yet, this city seemed to have many hidden secrets. Sitting down again, she grips the coffee mug with her hands, enjoying the way the warmth seeps into her hands, “What are you drinking?” She asks, her chocolate eyes wandering to his glass, her inexperience in alcohol clearly showing.
