    The North

Within the Northern vicinity of the city the wealthy gather behind meticulously trimmed hedges and high class victorian architecture. The streets are paved with stone, the buildings are made of brick, and the storefronts are brightly lit and inviting. In the North every establishment is made to cater to the rich and the wealthy. Many such places are used to the sometimes peculiar requests of the otherworldly but here there is little that money cannot buy - weather it be illegal or merely looking the other way. Vampires and Dark Hunters are often found upon these Northern streets, their long lives often contributing to their sizable wealth which allow them the luxuries that the North provides.

Miya is entirely ignorant to the battle those so wages on within Dareios’s mind, the woman simply pleased that he remembered her from all those months ago. She shifts a touch uncomfortably under his long stare, not used to having someone take such an interest in her, her eyes dropping and her hands coming to clasp in front of her. The petite woman can’t keep the tinge of pink that so coats her cheeks in that moment, thankful for when the conversation moves to those streetlights. The woman had been pleased how quickly those lights had been fixed, that stretch of her walk home no longer dark and frightening. Those dark nights seemed to scare the woman even more after that attack that had been placed on her life, the woman hardly ever setting foot out in the evening anymore. Yet, tonight would be one of those nights she would have to walk home, perhaps she could harass the man to escort her again. Even the thought of the mayor walking her home brings on another wave of embarrassment as she’s quick to squash the idea down. No, it had been her choice to stay out late, now she had to face the consequences.

When the conversation shifts to her, she quickly explains herself, only having Dareios respond almost immediately as he shifts to pour himself another drink. The Asian woman can’t help but watch those smooth movements, the way he fills his glass easily, like he had done it time and time again. She’s distracted briefly as her chocolate gaze continues to follow his movements, his question snapping her out of it. Jolting upwards, her brows shoot up in surprise. “I er…,” she fumbles over her words, that blood rushing to her face once more, “Yes, the doctors are wonderful, they are all very helpful,” Miya murmurs quickly, “I’m actually studying to become a surgeon,” she dips her head in explanation, “It’s funny though, I faint at the sight of my own blood but other people’s doesn’t bother me,” Miya laughs quietly, recalling the first meeting she had with Arlo and how she had successfully cut herself by accident. She had felt woozy for almost an hour afterwards and she had barely sliced her finger.

Excusing herself briefly, Miya fetches the rest of her belongings before seating herself once more, chocolate eyes rising to meet Dareios’s as he seems to… feverishly drink his wine. Frowning slightly, she studies the man, hardly adept at reading someone’s emotions but there were very rare times, such as now, that she could pick up on them, know that something seemed… off. Settling herself in that barstool, she swivels to face the man, a touch of concern etched into her delicate features, “Are you okay? You seem… agitated,” Miya says slowly, her soft gaze taking him in as she worries for him. Though, that look hardly remains long as her curiosity gets the better of her as she’s leaning forward and inquiring as to what the man is drinking. It hardly takes him long to reply, providing a decent amount of information while successfully revealing her ignorance to such things. She doesn’t have a moment to stop Dareios from signaling for another glass, that new wine glass promptly placed it front of her. “I’m actually not experienced with anything,” Miya says pausing for a brief moment before her face turns red from embarrassment.

“I mean, I’m not experienced with wine or alcohol in general, I only recently went out with a friend and tried it for the first time,” she blurts out, revealing far too much information. And it was true, the woman was in her mid-twenties and she had barely just discovered alcohol, those beers entirely inebriating the woman only to lead to a terrible hangover the next day. She had sworn up and down she wouldn’t touch anything alcoholic again but with this glass in front of her and Dareios seemingly enjoying that bottle of wine, it was awfully tempting. “I wouldn’t mind trying it though,” she admits after a moment, her cheeks still tinged with heat from her sudden outburst. She waits patiently before that wine is poured into her glass, the petite asian woman nodding her thanks as she reaches for that liquid and brings it to her lips, sniffing it briefly in curiosity. That first sip doesn’t have her making a face like the beer did. She’s entirely unsure as to what to think of this beverage, the warm liquid racing down her throat, only to pool in her stomach. Taking another small sip, she’s able to taste the subtle flavors within the wine this time before she places it back on the table.

“It’s different but it’s not terrible,” Miya states finally, a gentle smile curling on her lips as she glances up at him. “So, I didn’t know that mayors were allowed to go drinking out on the town,” she teases him, her eyes twinkling, “You must not have a lot to do these days,” Miya states, reaching for that glass only to work on that red liquid.
