i'm not ashamed of my scars, i'm ashamed of the world for not understanding.

It was typical that people their age, well Raven’s age, were beginning to start the next chapter of their lives with a mate. Not everyone was fortunate to find their other half. For some it would take a few more years, and for some even longer. It was possible that some just never got the chance. The young woman always assumed that she belonged in that particular category. Never before did she think that she would be able to find someone that loved her, for her. Hell the poor girl never thought that anyone would even set their eyes on her. She was accustomed to receiving glares of hatred and disgust thrown her way. At times even a look of pity or sympathy. Only with her spotted companion for the first time did she see from his darkened eyes something completely foreign to her, that it too years for her to figure out exactly what it was. Even more so it took even longer for her to accept that he actually wanted her. To feel wanted...wasn’t that a feeling everyone wanted to have? To know that there was someone in this cruel and broken world that was capable of seeing you, and wanting you close for all of time? Hearing about Dorian’s engagement and then finding out that they would be able to attend his special day was quite an honor. Although she was the daughter of Alphas, she was born of such a low class, hardly one that should be anywhere near another of royal blood. To think that she would be in attendance without royals and distinguished guests seemed mind-boggling and terrifying. What could she possibly wear that would meet their standard? How in the world was she going to manage her mate if his other half wasn’t not around? The lupine wanted to be there for her Fae friend, and hopefully, everything would simply go smoothly. It was something she could only hope for. With a wide grin she nodded her head politely, uttering a solemn vow.

“I promise, we’ll both be on our best behavior and try to act accordingly. Thank you so much for inviting us.”

Oh how silly she must appear as she gaily told the story of how her devious companion managed to ask for her hand in marriage. It was absolutely impressive to the young woman that Tobias was capable of pulling off such a beautiful and monumental surprise. When others assumed he was dumber than dirt, it was these moments when she wished those doubted him were there, to see that there was more to him than they ever knew. However, they didn’t deserve to witness such a thing. Of course the woman gushed over the entire story pleased to share and tell! Having telepathy surely did come in handy. Showing those images of the event was quite simple for her to do. Eagerly she showed off the ring he had given her, proudly announcing that he had bought the item and did not steal it. He was a rogue through and through, but there were moments when he could act like a proper gentleman in society, on rare occasions of course. Handing her friend her own phone, she allowed him to look through that album of the engagement photos they had. Blue-grey eyes watching his reaction, hoping that they would appeal to him. Each photo was her favorite for a different reason. His comment on how handsome her companion was made her quite proud to know that she had someone that others could be jealous of or even approve of. Dorian didn’t have green eyes when he looked over her mate, she knew he was being playful, and she was giddy to respond in kind. Taking her phone back, she grabbed another biscuit to munch on, while lightheartedly responding.

“Weres are very protective and territorial of what we consider ours. So, you keep yours and I’ll keep mine. And I would like to use some of the photos once I figure out the dates then I shall send that invitation out. I hope I can find something that you will like.”

It was quite obvious that Dorian was quite careful of how he sent things. Every time she received an invitation from him for tea or to join him for some fun, it was always done with such an exquisite piece of paper and superior penmanship. Each one more impressive than the next. Within her desk in Tetradore’s office she kept each one, finding it impossible to even consider to throw away. Such thoughts about her invitations slipped out of her mind the moment she hesitated and attempted to ask her Fae friend for a special request. Dorian had no obligation to fulfill her wish. He was not a member of her family and she was not a member of his own. This particular role was reserved for a male in her family. Well, her blood family was dead. Well, her Father was somewhere running about with a Dark Hunter, but Raven didn’t want him anywhere near her or on her special day. In her new family she could have asked Henry to join her down the aisle, but she hardly knew the recently changed Were-Panther. There was only one male in her life, other than Tobi and Tetradore, that she was close to and trusted. The poor woman was afraid of rejection, but she was prepared for it. Just in case it was some particular protocol in royalty that forbade him to walk a girl he wasn’t related to down the aisle. As she explained to him what she was hoping he would do, she couldn’t help but sigh in relief. That he was willing to do this was thrilling! Hearing him exclaim the problem of finding something to wear was amusing. Laughing she cheerfully explained what he at least not ought to do.

“Well, you try not to wear something that takes away the focus of the bride. Although if you dressed in a potato sack, you would outshine me.”

With a very small sigh she looked down and began to rub behind the dog’s ear. The pup quite content to be getting all the attention and sitting between them. She hardly looked up at the Fae, as she focused on the pup, whispering quite softly for the two to hear.

“I never thought I’d get to do a lot of things, like get married, but I’m really excited I get to do this.”
