Meanwhile the female fae in their presence only seemed amused by their caution. She must not have read the same stories as Troy that told only of the horrors that came with opening portals without doing too much research and practice. Things came out of them sometimes, things that didn't belong here. Then there were the graphic pictures that showed you what happens when you do a portal the wrong way. Troy wasn't scared of going through the portal, but he wanted to make sure all the proper safety was in place before he went all willy nilly and stepped into it. He had a woman and unborn child waiting for him at home after all. His life meant a little more to him now than it did only months ago. His gaze swept back to Navi as she exclaimed like she finally figured something out, but then she went back to tinkering on the stuff in her hands as if averting the attention from her. Troy raised a brow but said nothing, turning back to the conversation. He was surprised though to hear Navi speak up again.

She was defending Andras, which was nice. He was her leader after all and she also seemed to live with him so of course she trusted him. That was good. Troy could understand her criticism but she didn't know thier backgrounds and how much they did or didn't know of Andras. Troy had only met him once and Andras was very vague with his answers then. Of course he understood Andras wanting to be secretive about such things as portals, with what happened in the past to his monarchy. He had secrets of his own and he had trusted Andras enough to reveal Amelia and their child, something unheard of in this world or any of them. He raised a brow at Navi before giving her a soft smile. "You're right, Navi. We should trust him more." He turned his gaze to Dorian, hoping he got the message as well. Troy could have argued it out with her that he didn't even know that Andras could create portals, let alone how dangerous or not dangerous they were because Andras kept that from them. He could also argue that friends can be the most deadly when they turn on you but what would any of it achieve? It would only put a false sense that he didn't trust Andras and he didn't want that image of the follower whose loyalty shifts by the conversation. No, he would let Navi have her moment of greatness and trust in Andras. He had made that deal when he shook Andras' hand in the bar and he would stand by it.

After a short while of tinkering, he saw Navi making her way to the portal and he tilted his head, watching curiously as she put her hand through it. When she pulled it back, she only said "huh" as if it were curious but Troy almost wondered if she was doing it sarcastically to make fun of them for being so wary. Suddenly she disappeared through the portal and he was about to ask Andras if he should follow when Andras stuck his own hand through and pulled her back, shutting down her question about showing them something with a firm nod. She turned to them then, telling them there was nothing to be afraid of before she reached out, grasping Dorian's hand and leading him up to the portal. Troy was surprised that he went with her, almost expecting him to dig his heels in like a dog and fight back. As she pointed to something in the portal, he smirked, pretty sure he knew what was coming, even as she sudenly shoved him through. Then she turned to Andras, saying Dorian was eager. He chuckled, shaking his head in wonder at her as she then reached out for Troy. He took her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "I promise you don't have to push me. I'll go willingly." His eyes twinkled teasingly at her as they walked through the portal.

Once on the other side, he took a deep breath and looked around at all the snow. It was utterly breathtaking and he found he was a little disappointed that he couldn't show Amelia this, at least not any time soon. He would have to just tell her about it for now. He looked for Dorian then, wanting to know his reaction after so much confusion and wariness back in the garage. As they had talked about the portals, Dorian had only seemed to recede further from it, not wanting any part of it. At Navi's words, Dorian had only said that he didn't want to go to another world cause he didn't understand this one yet. The thought made Troy's lips quirk since he knew how lost Dorian could get sometimes in simple conversations about the world around them. The bad thing was, he wasn't wrong. Troy knew he couldn't begin to know what Dorian had been through in his lifetime and how the whole idea of going to another dimension could cripple him. Maybe he was worried about coming back. Troy tried to leave the questions to Andras since this was his ability and he knew much more about it than himself. He tried teasing Dorian to get a rise out of him and while it didn't do that, at least it did coax a smile to the fae king's lips as he said he would be a poor king if he was goaded by such words.

Troy shrugged in response with a smirk. "It was worth a shot." He admitted. He could see Dorian was really struggling with this, wanting to believe Andras but not wanting to risk the life he had built up for himself either. It was a valiant thing, something Troy could understand entirely. Dorian finally said that if Andras were to go first maybe he would look but he was cut off by Navi grasping his hand. Troy watched with growing amusement as she led him to the portal and pointed something out. So he wouldn't fall for a teasing challenge but it appeared the pointing at something to make you look at it trick still worked. Troy rolled his eyes. He should have thought of that. He had to stop himself from laughing as she suddenly shoved him in. He could only imagine the curses Dorian had for her now as he landed on the other side. He didn't miss the surprised yelp that was cut off by the portal, after all. Dorian for sure wasn't a happy camper now. As they stepped through, it was obvious entirely from the tension in his body as he straightened up from the fallen log he had been sitting on that he was more than a little upset. He had looked a little pale when they first saw him as if he was sick, but Troy didn't get any feelings of sickness when he'd stepped through. Of course, it could have to do with the fact he was pushed against his will through it.

His brow rose as Dorian glared at Navi and the protective streak in him kicked in, Troy instinctively stepping in front of her to shield her from Dorian's gaze as he went off about her in Latin. Troy knew it from his own parents so he still understood and spoke it quite fluently, even though he rarely used it now in modern times. He didn't respond, letting Andras take the lead on this one but he would only step away from Navi when he knew there was no danger to come to her. Dorian was his friend, but it was only a little prank. Dorian was overreacting in his opinion. Of course, Troy knew how dramatic Dorian could get so he was more amused than anything. Dorian was good at assuring them that everything was safe and he found himself trusting the other fae more with every interaction. Sure, he had kept the portal from him but after what happened in his past, Troy didn't blame him one bit. It was okay to keep secrets from a stranger, but now that they shared the same court, he would like to think that Andras would be more truthful from now on. He was sharing something huge with the portal so Troy knew to take it at its worth. Here, Andras was handing out his own trust and Troy would accept it and show him that he would protect it.

Andras seemed more and more uncertain as time wore on and Dorian kept putting his foot down. It was obvious he wanted the other fae king to trust him in this but he wasn't going to push. When Navi suddenly stepped through, he called out to her and immediately went to grab her and for a few second, Troy was afraid he was fearful for her in going through, but that idea was dismissed the minute he saw the disapproving look in Andras' eyes. It was more scolding than relieved for her safety. He only wanted her to wait for them, it would seem. That was when she decided to take matters into her own hands and reach for Dorian. Andras seemed only stressed as the seconds ticked by and Dorian looked into the portal, even curious as she pointed something out as if Andras could see it too. Troy was the only one not trying to look because he'd already stared into the hole and saw only darkness. He knew that hadn't changed and being a trickster himself, he knew when something was being staged. He was proved right as she suddenly pushed him in and Andras looked furious as he called out her name again then went into the hole after Dorian. Meanwhile he took Navi's hand and assured her that she didn't need to push him before he stepped in with her.

He was able to watch the scene where Dorian yelled in Latin and Andras remained calm, apologizing in the same tongue before turning on Navi. He kept his stance in front of Navi's shoulder protectively though he knew Andras wasn't going to hurt her. He could see it in Andras' eyes that he doted on her. He listened quietly as Andras scolded her, telling her it was unacceptable and she should never do it again. After that, Troy could swear he saw relief on Andras' features as he then told them to follow him and they found a small brick path that led to a large lodge on their left. Andras wasn't headed that way first though. He told them he had something else to show them first. Troy raised a brow in curiosity but shrugged and followed in his wake, stopping at the top to gape at the scene before him. His eyes widened like saucers, taking in the magic that very well lit up the air around them. He turned his gaze back to Andras in surprise as he said it was called Somnia, that he had managed to save some of his court but that it must be kept secret. Troy could read the fear in his eyes in that moment. Andras didn't need to say what would happen. Troy could pretty much feel the pain in Andras' body in that moment. He reached out to put his hand on Andras' shoulder. "Thank you for trusting me with this. I won't tell anyone. I am in your court. Your secrets are mine now. I would protect them with my dying breath."
