i'll be the loyal sidekick at your side, but you're the super hero in this tale67.143.208.172Posted On December 23, 2017 at 6:34 PM by Taylor Dixon

His first time was with a girl named Clarice. She was one fo the nerdy girls at school but she was cute, without her glasses. They made her eyes look too big but when she took them off, she actually had the prettiest blue eyes and her wavy red hair was actually very soft and touchable. She was the quiet type but she'd found a kindred spirit in Taylor when they were in middle school. He was just coming into his rebellious nature, starting to act out and to her, that was the bad boy of that generation. She had troubles at home too, though hers was a little worse. Her dad was abusive in the physical and sexual sense of the word. She was morbidly self conscious of herself, afraid that someone would find the bruises he only left in easily hidable places. No one at school thought to wonder why she wore jackets and long sleeves when it was warm outside. They just thought she was cold most of the time. But Taylor was always more sensitive to stuff like that, so one day he'd asked and from then on, they became secret friends. They didn't hang out between classes or anything but after school when she wanted to get away from the house, she would call or text and he would show up on his huffy bike, his getaway vehicle at the time. He'd offer her an escape and they'd run all over town together or go hide out in the woods on the outskirts of town. They'd share their stories, though it mostly consisted of him listening attentively to her cry and talk about what her dad had done this time.

Her mom had ran off and left them when she was young so she had no escape. It was just her and her dad. He was possessive of her, like she was his property. Taylor hated him. Clarice opened up to him and he let her vent out all her rage. He gave her plates to smash and pillows to punch, anything to let her unwind and get it all out. This went on for months, then one night after a particularly bad fight with her dad, she asked him to touch her. She wanted to know what it was like to be touched by a guy who liked her. And Taylor did like her. She wasn't Katherine Deegle, by any means, but she was smart and pretty in that girl next door kind of way. She was funny and she even laughed at his own corny jokes. What was there not to like? He was so nervous that night. If anything, he'd let her guide him through everything. They took their time and when everything was said and done, they promised that nothing would change between them. But it was all lies, but everything did change. He was awkward around her and she started to act out more. A rumor got started that she was a slut and with the things she was wearing to school...it wasn't a hard rumor to start. It was like what they'd done had snapped her and suddenly nothing was off limits. She was more confident, but there was a darkness in her that scared Taylor. He started keeping his distance and she stopped talking to him. Next thing he heard, she had run away and no one had heard from her since.

The first thing he did was go to her house. When her father answered, barely able to stand and with whiskey strong on his breath, Taylor punched him right in the face and walked away. He'd wanted to hit that man from the first time Clarice had told him about her dad but he'd held back because Clarice said it would only make him hurt her worse to punish her for talking. After that, Taylor was more determined than ever to protect women and keep them from harm. In a way, she helped him. After Clarice, there were a few flings he met in bars when he was underage drinking, using a fake ID to get in. Katherine Deegle was in there somewhere and not long after that, he met Becca and thought he was done looking for a woman. Becca had seemed like everything he could ever want in a woman. She was smart and beautiful and charming. She was going to nursing school and she loved it. Taylor was sure they were meant to be. How wrong he was. He didn't outright give up on love after her deep betrayal but he did put it on the back burner for a while. After the anger wore off, he found himself wanting companionship again so he had a couple one night stands from bars on his way to nowhere one he left town. Since arriving in Sacrosanct, he hadn't had the urge to find someone but once he met Adelaide, he couldn't stop thinking about her long enough to think about anything else. It was like she had possessed him. Her drive, her passion, her spirit. It called to him in a whole new way. He was addicted.

She opened up to him as if it were nothing and somehow he felt safe enough around her to do the same, to spill secrets he had never planned on telling anyone. She made him feel so at ease. He never felt like he had to pretend to be anyone else but himself around her. Sure, he was intimidated as hell by her background but he never felt the need to give off as being anyone else other than who he was because Adelaide had a way of soothing him, of letting him know that it was alright. She didn't even have to say anything. It was just an air she had about her. Maybe that was why on that hill beneath the stars, he felt no qualms about putting his arm around her. It was like it was something he'd done before with her, like it was second nature. She belonged there, somehow. When she asked him about his thoughts, he didn't hesitate to tell her just that. He didn't feel any nervousness about it, any feeling that she might reject his ideas or laugh at them. He somehow knew that no matter what he said, he would never show anything but understanding and support as long as he was honest. And that's all he ever wanted to be with her. It was as simple as that. He reminded himself right after that kiss he planted on her that he'd never thought to ask if she had anyone waiting for her back in Paris. Sure, she'd made it clear that she had pusehd everyone around but that didn't mean that there wasn't someone she had connected with, someone worth a second look. He felt so stupid about it. Someone as great as she was had to have someone pining after her.

She was so good at comforting him. Just her presence was enough most of the time but every word she ever offered him was kind and meant to heal his heart, it seemed. She squeezed his hand and told him that his honesty was worth cherishing, that she cherished it. Somehow that felt like the greatest thing in the world to him. His smile melted at those words, his eyes lighting up like the very stars. "You are too kind to me, Adelaide. You deserve nothing less so that's what I'll give you, one hundred percent, every time. Scout's honor." He even held up two fingers in the boy scout gesture when he said it, his lips quirking a little bit with humor before his face sobered again to let her know while he was making light of it, he did mean every word as well. He told her that she deserved someone strong as she was and he saw her eyes spark with something as she listened to him. She whispered his name on a breath as if there were more to it but he was full of adrenaline now, knowing it was now or never to make the move she had all but invited from him. If he was wrong, he was sure she would be quick to slap him and tell him about himself and he would feel ashamed like a scolded puppy then they'd either get past it or they wouldn't but somehow he was sure that wasn't going to happen. She felt something for him. He could feel it as strong as the cool breeze in the night air.

The moment that their lips met, he felt his whole body ignite like a forest fire catching spark. His skin was literally crawling, goosebumps running down his arms as he pulled himself back, still gently cradling her cheek but not wanting to do anything more in case that wasn't what she wanted. She answered by keeping her hand on his and suddenly shifting closer to him, her body plush against his with no air between them as she pulled him down by his neck, their lips meeting again in a deeper kiss, but no less filled with a gentle passion that brought the very stars to shame. He melted into her embrace, meeting her kisses with the same fervor until finally they pulled apart. He found that he was already breathing harder, his heart racing so much that it felt like it might beat right out of his chest. He couldn't stop looking at her, her face, her eyes, her lips. It was like he had to memorize it all, like he ight never see it again and yet like he was seeing it all for the first time. Her next words were to assure him that if he wanted to be that man, then he would be. She was sure of it, as with all things he told her. He offered a gentle smile back. "You have such faith in me when I have done nothing but punch a guy in a women's club and do some household chores. I want to live up to it more than anything. I want to be worthy of that faith. I want to be worthy of.....you." He all but whispered the last word, his lips quirking into something more sheepish but he forced himself to keep looking at her and not avert his gaze like he had started to do.
