    Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawethorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three story townhouses, often with a one to two car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces.

if these wings could fly for the rest of our lives
"I promise, it's right." The young girl insisted as she watched Arlo's fingers fiddle with that tie. That restrictive clothing fit so perfectly well with that dinner jacket and slacks she had coaxed the man into. She could hardly deny he looked distinctly….sharp in that more formal attire, even if she was well aware he hardly seemed comfortable in it. Admittedly, Abigail herself was perhaps as uncertain of her own appearance for the evening's dinner. Those heels still required far too much caution with each step, though she refused to admit it was the first time she'd worn such feminine footwear. The woman at the department store had quite near insisted they were perfect with that evening dress, the gown itself perhaps equally as atypical for the young woman. It was the most of her petite figure that Abigail had shown off to the world. That red fabric fell around her thighs, revealing those long legs and cut just below the silken flesh of those now bare shoulders. Still, as uncertain as she was, a part of her felt distinctly….fancy. Her hazel eyes drifted towards her companion as Arlo tripped over that curb, the young woman entirely inattentive to the way his gaze so lingered upon her or those thoughts that toyed with his mind.

Rather, it was a certain sort of apprehension that so gripped the young woman. With her companion so handsomely dressed and that promise of meeting his friends, Abigail certainly didn't want to disappoint him….or them...or anyone! The last thing she had anticipated when they rounded that final corner, however, was the sheer number of people and vehicles gathered outside one of the few gated homes within that altogether luxurious neighborhood. She had never seen so many people attempting to occupy such a small space and, frankly, it only heightened her own nervousness. She was almost thankful for the way Arlo's hand so reached out for her own, her body pressed up against him in such a fashion that his arm was in the middle of her chest. Her hazel eyes widened as several of those photographers neared them with blinding lights, the explosion of those questions and all that noise was near overwhelming to the young girl in that moment, enough so that her grip tightened upon that only lifeline she had - Arlo.

The young girl was all but silent in the wake of those questions shot towards them, fully allowing Arlo to take control of that situation as he navigated that sea of bodies to get them closer towards the gate. She could hardly help that breath of air that left her lips as they finally made their way into the private sanctuary of that fancy home, the gardens alone enough to draw a small gasp from her lips. Frankly, it baffled her that everything could be so….green when it was so cold out! They must have spent a fortune on them! Did they replace everything every few days?! Did they have some magic greenhouse...spell or something?? She was pretty sure the cold would still get to them, she certainly still felt it. Mutely, her head nodded in agreement and yet, her attention was still focused on those perennial flowers that lined the front of that home. This was amazing! It was like that Secret Garden movie she used to watch as a child. Though, Arlo did say that his friend was marrying a King. Apparently, royalty got weather-defying flowers….how unfair!

"It's so pretty…" She whispered softly as they finally made their way up the driveway and to the front of that door. Her hazel eyes were still so attentive to her environment that she missed that nervous running through Arlo's hair, far too late to stop him from messing up his almost gentlemanly appearance. It was the sudden opening of that door that so quickly banished any chiding she might have given her companion, her gaze wholly attentive upon the young man in front of her, even though he certainly didn't look like those men in those pictures Arlo had shown her. That mention of their shoes, however, caused her own gaze to turn downwards towards the difference between Arlo's rather worn ones to the silver sparkling of her own brand new ones. "Um….thank you." She uttered, a hint of uncertainty upon her features at Arlo's rather abrupt inquiry of getting them back. Oh dear. That question alone was almost enough to cause the young woman to frown. Arlo must have been more nervous than she thought. He seemed all…..different than the calm, collected man he so usually was. Nevertheless, she followed her companion inside that foyer, pausing quite immediately after crossing the threshold.

"Wow…." She muttered, her hazel eyes swept over that foyer, that look of amazement returned with a vengeance. Even in this singular hallway, there was a level of elegance that was quite near palpable. Pretty didn't even begin to cover that foyer. It was, perhaps, the nicest thing she had seen in her whole life. The sound of footsteps drew her own gaze towards the newest arrival, the simple sight of that man in front of her brush a rush of heat to her pale cheeks, turning them a soft shade of pink. He was….undeniably handsome, the sort of handsome that belonged on magazine covers and movie screens. He was the sort of handsome that certainly didn't invite her to dinner. It was that abrupt movement at her side that finally caused her gaze to tear away from her host and yet, Abigail had never been taught how to curtsy enough to even attempt such a gesture. Her eyebrows rose ever so slightly as Arlo began to speak, that difference in his tone even far more noticeable to the young woman, her head tilted ever so slightly in silent consideration. Was something wrong with his voice? Was he broken? Her lips pressed together ever so slightly as she watched her companion, at least until Arlo voiced her own name.

She offered the fae King a small wave only for her to release Arlo's gasp, her hands folding almost neatly in front of her in the fashion her father had long ago taught her to do when she was supposed to look nice for his work colleagues. It was, however, the mention of those gardens that saw her perk up, the young woman almost determined to assist Arlo in….some fashion (maybe he was just really uncertain about talking to this man?). "Oh! Yes, they're absolutely gorgeous! Your New Guinea Impatiens are amazing and I've never seen Cornflowers so blue! You must have really really good soil!" She was certain those flowers needed more than just good dirt - like that whole warm sun business. Frankly, the whole gardens themselves wholly baffling to her. What she wouldn't give to poke around that landscaping!
