That soft, simple touch of reassurance of Sebastian’s hand to his own thigh beneath that table was perhaps hardly needed and yet it was so hardly unappreciated all the same. That singular, gentle gesture only furthering that warm simper upon his own lips in the wake of Arlo’s admittance that neither man surely need hold any concern over those more possessive tendencies that vampiric kind was capable off. It was surely a foolish worry of sorts and yet Dorian could so hardly help the fashion in which those words appeased him all the same. He so hardly doubted Sebastian’s own devotion to himself in turn, Dorian never once having ever questioned such a thing when he knew that love between them existed so irrevocably and as brightly as that red thread that bound them and yet- while his trust in Sebastian remained implicit- the Monarch was perhaps more inclined to find even some small measure of worry over the idea of another vampire so believing he might hold any claim to his own fiance. Arlo’s simple assurance that the pair were no more than friends readily alleviating any such concern from the Monarch all the same. Dorian so allowing his own free hand to drop quietly beneath that table, his fingers interlacing with Sebastian’s own as his gaze so met his soon-to-be husbands in that simple, near wordless assurance in turn that he well understood. Ah, but how that man might still make his heart flutter after all this time!

That warm simper remained upon his lips as that talk shifted to those varying species and the plethora of questions, it seemed, that each might have for the other. After all, how often was such a chance given for two vampires, a Fae and a Were to freely ask of one another those things they had always wondered? Dorian so readily finding a fascination in Abigail’s own distinctly scientific knowledge of that notion of blood and how one could view its movements with thos scientific devices that he himself had learned only recently off during those trips to the science museums Sebastian so patiently escorted him on. The nature of cells was still very much a new idea for the man. Such discoveries well beyond his own time and yet Dorian so had a habit of near surrounding himself with those books whenever it was a topic so presented itself that he desired to learn upon. That chance to view something so intriguing as the movement of Were and Human blood was one he held little desire to pass up. Sebastian’s soft assurance they could surely acquire a microscope only seeing the Monarch brighten further. That mention of requiring blood and slides and petri dishes however prompted a more quizzical look from the man. Dorian having little idea of just how such a thing might be acquired let alone what a ‘petri dish’ was. Perhaps Sebastian could simply find one of those whenever it was he so took Arlo to get the rest of that cutlery the man was lacking. Dorian dismissing such a thought for that moment all the same.

“I shall look greatly forward to it.”

He commented readily. Abigail’s enthusiasm surely mirroring his own even if the woman more freely expressed those emotions that Dorian himself had spent but a lifetime learning to taper into a measure deemed appropriate for company. That final gentle touch to his leg and that near lax position Sebastian had so taken up at the table prompted a mere chuckle from himself and yet, this evening, Dorian himself saw little need to maintain but all of those formalities. Not when Arlo had abandoned most manner the moment dinner had been served and he had proceeded to use his spoon in a manner more akin to a shovel. Dorian finding that enthusiasm rather endearing all the same. It was almost a relief, really, to dine with people whom were simply…..people. Rather then royalty or politicians or lords or some other manner of dignitary that near demanded that distinct decorum.

That very talk of just how those varying species were made so prompted that explanation from Abigail herself on the idea of that Were-Virus before Dorian in turn made every effort to explain that which he knew off his own kind. The Monarch hardly oblivious to the very intriguing even Sebastian seemed to find in those words as Dorian so repeated those things he had learned from Matteo over those many years. How little it seemed when all spoke in but a singular sentence! Dorian so making a note to speak more to Matteo about their species when the chance might present itself. The Italian so finding himself encumbered with several more questions and yet, on those matters of reproduction in one way or another, Dorian so at least found himself capable off providing those answers. Those difficult, unpleasant rituals resulting in so few Fae being created without purpose. He’s species own often lacking fertility and too- lacking ability to pass on those genes if a child was managed at all so resulting in those near dwindling numbers of Fae. Dorian’s gaze so remaining upon Arlo then as the vampire so pieced together that information before querying Sebastian on the ability of vampires to father any children. Dorian himself quite assured it was not possible and yet he so allowed Sebastian alone to answer that response before that question of children for himself and his fiance so prompted another pause.

It was, perhaps, but one of the few things the pair had so never openly discussed and yet, truly, Dorian so hardly suspected it was because either of them so feared such a conversation. Rather it simply had not….come up between them. Dorian wholly of the belief that their shared gender so made that very notion distinctly impossible, the Monarch largely unaware off all those modern options and technologies that might so be available if they choose within the future and yet- the Fae so hardly found himself particularly distressed over such decisions all the same. Dorian allowing his gaze to shift to Sebastian then, meeting the blue off the man's eyes with that simper still in place as he returned to glance toward Arlo once more.

“Do you know, we have never truly discussed it? I think though that, perhaps, such is the beauty of immortality. We have near on forever to decide such things. There is no real limit to the time we have. I think, in truth, that Sebastian would make a wonderful Father to any child and I am not opposed to the idea. Yet too, I am inclined to enjoy being married first, to enjoy just being us without the demands of a young family. I think I should not like to have to share his attention.”

Those final words were little more than a playful tease, that impish look near flashed toward his lover once more. Dorian inclined to admit to that very truth that a young family might surely distract from the time they had for one another and, even if such a desire might sound wholly selfish, the Monarch was hardly inclined to care. He had waited near on six centuries to find his soul mate and he so intended to enjoy that marriage to its fullest. They had both surely come from a time in which that marriage and children was expected of them. It had once been a necessity and yet- the world had changed, its expectations had changed and Dorian found himself hardly inclined to rush any such decisions. Perhaps, one day they might have a child, perhaps they would not. Dorian rather assured he could be equally as happy either way.

It was that near sudden question from Abby however that saw that chuckle hum from his lips once more. The Monarch quick to assure her that he so hardly took offense to her query on why Matteo might have made others when Dorian himself existed. The Fae King explaining that lack of bond between Maker and Made when it came to Fae and Matteo’s own efforts to bestow that immortality upon his staff if only to prevent such utter loneliness in Dorians own life and too- to assure some measure of loyalty to the crown itself. The young woman's mentions of ‘The Beast’ readily saw his features shift into that frown. That look of clear confusion maring his features then as he glanced from Abby to Sebastian and back again in some effort to understand just what she was referring too. That mention of witches only further seeming to perplex the man. How had she known of the witches? Was denying them that right to practice their religion the very denial she spoke off that had seen that black magic curse invoked? What did a rose have to do with it?

“I do not know what this ‘Beast’ is you speak off, there were witches though, yes. Although the first flower Sebastian ever gifted me was a carnation, not a rose. A rose would have been terribly bold so early in courting.”

That the very idea of that tale had been totally missed by the Fae was surely clear. Dorian so fortunately distracted then by Arlo’s sudden announcement he did had a question. That very notion of his sexuality readily stealing that ready, rih laughter from the Monarch’s own lips. Dorian quite content to assure the man it was his pants as he suspected. Such pants surely only improving the man's supposed ‘prettiness’ as Abigail had called it. Sebastian of the opinion that it was clear the man's hair which so resembled a set of boys from a backstreet. Boys Arlo was clearly determined to assure he did not look like. The younger vampire suddenly seeming rather concerned about those backstreets before throwing up his hands in defeat. Another chuckle slipping from Dorian’s own lips.

“I should like to know what these boys were doing in those streets too, I think. Who are these Backstreet Boys, Bastian?”

The ready appearance of that desert seemed to prompt no small measure of glee within their companions. Abigail and Arlo both eagerly reaching to enjoy that final course. Dorian so affording Sebastian that momentary simper then as the vampires own dessert was placed before him. Dorian wholly aware it would hardly take the man long to discover his own blood so added to this one. Those accented tones soft then.

“I should not like you to miss out.”
