Maybe he was getting a little bold with Adelaide around Townsend. He could literally feel Townsend's scowl from here. He used to be a lot more careful with his eyes and his words but Adelaide made it hard with her playful gestures. Then Rose got up and went over as Townsend whistled for her. At Townsend's harsh words, Taylor raised a brow and averted his gaze back to his food. "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning..." He murmured more to himself than anything. He didn't want to start anything with Townsend but he didn't understand why he was suddenly so sharp with him. And here he thought he'd been slowly winning the man's favor. Was it something he did? Was he too forward with Adelaide? He moved the food around on his plate with his fork silently for a few minutes as if waiting for the storm cloud to pass. He idly listened as Townsend asked Adelaide about her father, his own shoulders tensing at the mention of the man he only knew through her words and yet he held no love for the man.

Townsend then called Taylor's name and he looked up, offering a friendly smile even as Townsend added more to his list. He nodded. "Yes, sir. Looking forward to it." He had somehow managed to keep his chipper mood throughout all the tasks Townsend had given him. He liked working and he liked getting the job done the best he could. He knew that Adelaid was going to do great things. He knew she could accomplish anything she put her mind to. He was glad every day that she didn't just stay in Paris and settle into the life her father dealt her. He was glad she chose to fight it. He knew that she loved spending time with him and that she wanted to experience anything and everything . He also knew that Townsend wouldn't approve of it, but he could never tell her no. He wouldn't care to, even if he could. She was such a bright flame in a dull world. He only wished to see her brighter. He mentioned not being bored with Townsend around and she laughed, making his own eyes light up.

He only smirked in agreement to her response. He noted that Rose stayed just out reach, going to Townsend before settling down next to Reginald. At least she wasn't so distrustful of him all the time as she was. He knew she was trusting with Townsend because of all the time they'd spent together. In time, he was sure, he too, could win her over as well. He caught Adelaide's gentle look and smiled back softly in return, reassuring her that he wasn't giving up hope. As Townsend turned the subject to her father, Taylor raised a brow as she stabbed into her food and said that all her father would talk about is her returning home. The side of his mouth quirked but he said nothing as he finished up his food. To make things lighter, he asked about the bistro and was rewarded with a smile as she told him it was chicken cordon bleu. He smiled back with a nod. "I'm sure your customers will enjoy it." He watched as she got up and went to wash her plate, noting the tension in her shoulders and wishing he could massage it away but even he knew that wouldn't be welcome in Townsend's company.

Instead he sighed and cleaned his plate before slowly moving to the sink, giving her space to cool down. As she put her plate away, he moved into place to wash his own, looking up only when she mentioned the time and asked Townsend to be nice to him. The idea made his lips quirk but his gaze softened as he looked at her. She made her way to him and put a hand on his arm that left his skin tingling. Then she leaned in to kiss his cheek and he closed his eyes with a soft "mmm" sound in his throat. He smiled as she leaned back. "Till later." He whispered as she walked out. Only then did he finish washing his plate and put it up. He dried his hands off and turned to Townsend. "Ready to work, boss man."
