dance to the rhythm of your heartbeat

Bold though she may have been in that moment as she regards the fae man standing there in her doorway, it was hardly promised to last long. If there was anything at all that could be entirely expected from him, it was that he would find a way to rise to that challenge of their seemingly constant game between them, easily out-doing her one way or another. She could remember those moments well, each time that she had tried to overcome that blush that Andras seemed to take all too much pleasure in bringing to the young woman’s fair-skinned cheeks, only for him to answer her almost immediately in such a way that it left her practically gasping for that breath he would steal from her as he sent her heart racing wildly within her breast. Of those memories that she had of such moments, that night beneath the stars and the steam of the hotsprings surfaces unbidden. She could remember how his hands had touched her skin, how he’d both electrified her skin and made her feel so… alive while igniting that fire of desire in her core for the very first time by the likes of nothing she’d ever felt before or ever imagined. Not one of the heated romance novels she’d read in the past could have prepared her for what that moment would have felt like. She remembers the taste of his lips, that predatory groan that had escaped his lips as they kissed deeper and deeper, that pure want for the fae man overwhelming every sense, enveloping her entirely so that all which had existed in that moment was the two of them. There was no hidden village that looked for him for leadership. There was no supernatural divide that drove an entire world between the young woman and the only man she’d ever loved. There was only them, in that perfect world.

She can see those hazel eyes widen in surprise and delight at the bold nature that happens to find her in that moment, her coy smile dancing upon blush-colored lips. It hardly lasted long though, that courage that she’d summoned into herself, because suddenly it is overwhelmed by that more familiar timidness when their conversation is turned towards the conversations that she and her mother had shared, some of them having regarded the fae man. Why she felt so inclined to tell him that she spoke of him, that she had spoken so fondly of him as though they were more than friends, she did not know, and when his attention turns to those words and he gives her that look, she cannot help but become that shy creature she’d been before they met. It was almost astounding, how quickly those tides would change in the blue-eyed blonde when the fae man would do or say the things that he did. It was no wonder that Beylani hardly knew what it was that she meant to him, how he truly felt. One would think that those actions, his words, the way that he would look at her, all those kisses that they’ve stolen from one another… it would be enough for most anyone that might observe the pair to be so certain that there was something at work there, some unseen bond that tied them together somehow. Not a day, no, not a moment in time would pass the young woman by that she did not wish almost to the point of heartbreak that it were that simple, that there was a future waiting for them if that was what he wanted with her. Just when she would think that she had those emotions, those fantasies in check and under control, they would always come rushing forth and leave her lost in them.

That easy smile finds his lips then as he regards that shyness she wears now. Hazel depths illuminate with amusement at the confession she found tumbling over her tongue before she could stop it, but the blue-eyed blonde could hardly lie Andras, nor would she ever want to tarnish his trust that the fae man had placed in her hands. She’d promised him so much, to guard those secrets he shared, to always be honest just as she would hope that he might be in turn, that there was no doing back on her word. Midnight tenor tones seem to be searching for confirmation that she had indeed said those things and all she can do is nod as that flush brightened on her skin, but what she doesn’t expect was his next question, that smile shifting into something more wicked and she finds herself practically frozen like a deer in headlights, baby blues widening in surprise before she toys with her elegantly curled blonde locks.”I hardly know where to start, honestly. Maybe when we have a day to waste, I will tell you.”, she answers softly as her sterling voice becomes tender and affectionate, hopeful then that he might not press it for fear that he would break through those walls and have all that she felt for him spilling out without any hope of stopping it. Not yet… Maybe soon, but not now. She knew the moment that she told him everything, she would also lose everything. And tonight, she wanted to pretend. Deep down, she knew that she would never want to stop pretending that they were more than friends, that she was truly something more to him than she really was. She would never be ready for the devastation that was bound to come crashing down on her in the end, but how much longer could she keep these feelings from him? Only time would tell…

Beylani hardly sees that silent question that flickers ever so fleetingly across his gaze, simply offering the best smile that she could beneath the temporary weight of that sadness, thankful to move on to another subject entirely – the possibility of what her parents might think if they became aware of the world that she had discovered here in Sacrosanct. She was content that he seemed satisfied with leaving her mother and father in that blissful obliviousness that she had once been in herself months ago. Now, it was hardly unusual to think that such creatures existed, though she would readily admit that her encounter with the undead had been enough to make her double-check that those doors of hers were locked securely, as well as making sure that she was not wandering those streets at night. That, she was sure Andras was quite pleased with. Those tenor tones are tinged with amusement, that grin playing upon his handsome freature as he considers what her parents might think of him if they found out he were fae and she smiles gently to him.”Well, I know what’s true and that’s all that matters, right?”, she says warmly, knowing that even if this dinner meeting took a turn she really didn’t want it to, it would be the first time that she would blatantly disagree with any remarks or comments that her father might make. She wanted to believe that like herself, her mother would be slower to judge than her father, but she’d rather just avoid having to explain things altogether. He pauses for only a moment though, hazel eyes leaving baby blues to regard her once more before returning to meet her gaze, and that gentle smile of hers only softens further as her cheeks grow warm once more beneath his roguish grin.”There's only you", she answers, her words hardly more than a breathless whisper as she suppresses the words that she truly wanted to tell him. She wanted to tell him there would only ever be him, that she'd given her heart to him... wanted to beg that he keep it even if he could never give his in return. She'd accepted this fate when first those feelings took a name, and as much as it would hurt her in the end, she wouldn't take it back for anything in the world.

When he moved to close the distance and her heart begins to race, she hardly dares to move or even breathe. And when he touches her... Oh, when he touches her... It was nothing but bliss as it and where she would have once grown ever more shy, instead that boldness ignites yet again in those baby blues as he moves to rest his hand there over her cheek, that slender hand of the woman's lifted skin that it could feel his own heartbeat within that defined chest she felt herself craving to see again as she admires that devilish smile that would always get a rise out of her, encourage that daring side of her she hadn't even known she'd had before him. So much so, that she hardly anticipated her own movements when she moved to undo that first button, baby blue depths remaining locked in the embrace of those dark hazels, Beylani's sterling voice dancing with that sultry note. Those deep baritones have a shiver racing through her entire body, and as if to enforce that she meant it, she removes that last button as her smile only grows in that daring demeanor. She feels that fire rising in herself, swearing that she could even see it in his entire eyes, and it is then that she moves away from him. It wasn't what she wanted to do, but the minutes were passing them by and it would be any moment that there would be a knock on that front door. The last thing her parents needed to see was... She pushes those thoughts away quickly before they had time to grow, easily changing the subject though she would glance up to the fae man and that part of his chest that left her realizing how he clearly intended on leaving them as they were. Breathe.

It nearly takes her by surprise when his words make that demand of her, the blue-eyed blonde woman not quite understanding at first why it was that he would tell her such a thing. She trusted him though, without hesitation and without question, and perhaps that is why she does not flinch away from his hand as he grabs her and turns her to face him. Hardly fighting against him, she simply looks up into those hazel eyes and promises that she would try. Considering that this Frost seemed to come with the territory of being a barista at the café, she expected it to be a difficult task all the same and for a moment she almost dares to think that Andras might very well start appearing around the establishment. As foolish of a thought as it was, she still found it endearing. He gently forces her out of that place there before the vegetables and the woman watches as he works so skillfully, though she is quick to remind herself that he was so much older than she was and so it seemed fitting. He affords her a small smile and a playful wink then at her remark as she moved to retrieve the wine as he'd requested, his own reply bringing a gentle smile to her lips that lingers there when she is standing there near him, pouring those glasses as he speaks of his thoughts, causing Beylani to look up at him curiously."I suppose for someone who doesn't truly need to eat, food might get somewhat boring after a while. Except for those kabobs at the Winter Solstice Festival, of course", she says simply at first before those words take a playful yet reminiscent tone as she recalls that perfectly cooked and seasoned meat.

Content to watch as Andras assembles the rest of the casserole, she lifts that glass to her lips and takes a slow sip as he moves to carry the glass cooking dish towards the oven, opening the door and placing it in there before turning to face her. His words have her pausing and sends a wave of warmth washing over her as he smiles over to her. A warm and affectionate smile finds her own lips now as she begins to lower that glass, thick lashes blinking over glittering baby blues as she finds herself lost for words."Andras...", she says breathlessly, the only thing that finds her lips despite the words that she has to stop herself from speaking. How she would trade just about anything to spend an entering with him, in that winter wonderland that haunted her dreams nearly every night. It called to her, made her yearn more and more for everything that she could never have... He moves over to her again, plucking that glass from her hand and setting it down as the fae man reaches for those elegant curls again, Beylani practically melting beneath those hazel eyes that trail along her face for a moment before they lock once more with baby blue depths. Midnight tenor tones purr down to her as she feels his fingers traveling slowly lower, along the gentle curve of her face and to her neck before it stops there, all the while setting the woman's heart and soul on fire with that desire that only he could bring to her. She finds herself breathing a little faster as he steps even closer, the edge for the table pressing into her backside lightly as their bodies are nearly pressed into the other's. His satin voice grows deeper then and she can hardly calm that wild racing of her heart as baby blues shift to his lips from the moment before flickering back up to those dark hazels.

His request comes and while she hardly had a moment to try and answer him, she doesn't try to - not with words. His brings his lips to hers then and she meets him eagerly, baby blue eyes fluttering closed, losing herself in the taste of him. She feels his hands move to her waist and the next thing she knows, he is lifting her up with ease and placing her there on the edge of that table. Unbidden, she lifts on hand to rest over the side of his neck while the other finds that harded muscle of his pectorals, sliding ever so slowly along his collarbone and shoulder before retracing its path as their kisses deepen. Each and every breath becomes a little quicker as she's swallowed up in him, allowing his tongue to slip into her mouth and she returns the gesture, a soft groan of wanting ushered softly into him as she presses herself against him, yearning for his closeness. That hand travels farther down his chest now to find the next button before she unfastened it as swiftly as she had then other two, only to continue those sloe motions as soft hands savor the feel of that well-defined muscle that was now so temptingly exposed to her touch, the blue-eyed blonde hardly caring what would happen next. All she wanted was him, all that he would want to give her... And just like that, when it seemed that even time itself would stand still for them so that just maybe they could say this way for that much longer, reality comes crashing down on that moment so near the brink of passion she dreamt so often of.

Knocking has those baby blue eyes snapping open and pulling away from those kisses she was hardly ready to end."My parents!", she exclaims quietly as she looks up into those hazel depths before pressing against the fae man so that her feet feel the scuffed hardwood floor once again. She's hardly able to gather herself again, giving Andras an apologetic look mixed with the sudden rush of nerves as she moves over to the door. Why am I so nervous!? It's just dinner with my mom, dad, and Andras. Everything is going to be just fine... Reaching from the door handle, she opens the door and sure enough, she is greeted by the two faces she would never forget for as long as she lived. The older blonde woman with her hair cut to just barely graze her shoulders eagerly moves into the apartment, wrapping Beylani in a yight hug."There she is! My little lamb, oh how I've missed you", exclaims the woman before she's suddenly joined by the man who moves into place beside her, those gray-blue eyes instantly finding the other man in the apartment. He eyes him warily for a moment before turning to Beylani, softening instantly as they watch the two women smile brightly at each other."I've missed you, too mom. And you too, dad", she says warmly before freeing herself from her mother's embrace to take her father into a hug that is happily returned. As Beylani moves away from the man with milk chocolate hair, she turns in time to see her mother appraising Andras."And this must be your boyfriend, Andras isn't it? My goodness, you two are such a fine couple! Aren't they, sweetheart? Our daughter sure knows how to pick 'em, just like her mother", says the older woman as she smiles warmly to the fae man."Mom, he's not my boyfriend. I've told you this. He's just a close friend of mine", the blue-eyed blonde insists quickly, casting a glance to her father who is still taking in the unfamiliar faces in his daughter's apartment. Beylani turns to walk over to Andras then, smiling up at him as she tries to force way the nervousness in her gaze."Andras, these are my parents. Ruth and Zameir", she says warmly to the fae man, her gaze shifting then between the man she secretly loved and the two other people that meant the world that her, baby blues carefully watching her father as the couple move to stand before the young woman and Andras. Zameir reaches out his hand in greeting, but there is a caution that keeps the smile from his grizzled face."Andras. It's good to have a face to the name", comes the graveled baritones of the older man clearly unsure of how he felt about the fae man, eyes studying Andras from head to toe for a moment before he retracts his hand and wraps an arm around the older woman. Beylani says nothing in that moment, watching the three of them, uncertain of what would happen now that the moment of truth was finally upon them.
