Sebastian Ellington

Crowned Consort of Italy

The weight of that crown upon his head was still altogether peculiar to the Englishman. Though he had accepted his role as the Crowned Consort of the King of Italy, there were strikingly few times since that title had been granted to the vampire that he had been required to wear that crown. He found himself checking several times, throughout that decidedly short trip to the Bastille to ensure it remained upon his head, enough so that Charles was quite near left chuckling at his near-obsessive scrutinizing. “Oh, shut it, there will be pictures of today for bloody years. The last thing I need is to be a cock-up.” The vampire complained to the two men settled across from him. His bright blue eyes shifted toward the windows, the man content to eye the sheer crowd that lined those brightly lit streets. The number of Hunters and police used to patrol that very pathway to the church was, perhaps, as astounding to him as those very common folk that had gathered to see them. It still baffled him, truly, that so many had taken such pride in his own wedding. Those English colors were flown with the same awe-inspired delight as if he was the Queen herself.

“You look dashing, Sebastian. Everything will be fine.” They were the last words of reassurance he heard from that lips of that age-old manservant. Giles was, perhaps, the best that had near come from that line of butlers to care for his estates. It was fitting, he supposed, that it was he who was there at his side after all the pair had endured together. “Thank you.” Sebastian uttered softly, as that vehicle slowly glided to a stop before that brightly lit and well decorated Basilica. That church was nothing short of astounding, the effort put forth to ensure it’s beauty for tonight’s ceremony was certainly clear, even as the vampire stepped from the depths of that vehicle. His vibrant blue eyes turned towards the crowd behind him, the surge of voices was quite near deafening to his own heightened senses and yet, he offered them a warm simper and a final wave, much to the delight of all those flashing cameras. Sebastian was almost relieved when he turned to join the two men as they filed into the Cathedral, entirely content to leave them with the rest of the gathering wedding party whilst he made his way down the aisle to his own position at the very front.

He knew well his own duty in greeting their guests. Several handshakes were exchanged between himself and some of those business partners that sat close to the aisle. He quite purposefully took the moment to greet several of those dignitaries whom he knew Dorian’s country tended to have particularly good relations. It was, perhaps, unsurprising for Sebastian to make a point to pause before that British royal, the vampire entirely steadfast in his effort to thank the couple for attending their own wedding. A small wave was provided towards Arlo and Abby from where they sat closer towards the front of that congregation as Sebastian continued to make his way down that aisle. There were vastly many faces within that crowd he recognized, and even more, he didn’t, the church positively filled to the brim with their guests. Even so, Sebastian took up his own position at the front of that very alter, his own attention turned steadfastly towards the very Pope who had come from The Vatican just for this very moment. After all, the political meaning behind marrying a male Monarch to his male Consort certainly hadn’t been lost upon the church either. As much as he hated it, their union was still about far more than simple love, at least, to the world at large.

Though Sebastian was altogether willing to make small talk with His Holiness, and those guests gathered in the front few pews, he kept a careful eye upon the time. That occasional checking of that watch upon his wrist that Dorian had gifted him for Christmas was the only display of the vampire’s nervousness. It was, admittedly, the simple fact that he had done this before that settled the majority those butterflies. He knew exactly what to expect…well, at least on a much smaller scale. The grandeur of this wedding was unlike anything he had ever seen or participated within and the waiting was another beast entirely. Sebastian was well aware that Dorian required far more preparation than the Consort himself, much less the veritable parade that would surely accompany the King to the wedding venue. It was so peculiar, still, to think of Dorian as a King when the man simply was…well, his lover for so much of their relationship. And yet still, the waiting near killed him, even if he knew Dorian certainly wouldn’t leave him standing at the altar.

It was the sudden sound of music that drew the vampire’s attention near immediately towards those church doors. His own position quite suddenly straightened, his hands clasped behind his back in that same fashion that was so atypical of men of his own time. He watched in silence as that wedding party began their procession down that aisle consisting of their closest friends and family members. He watched as they filed into their own places at the very front two rows. That music near swelled as Alexander finished his own walk down the aisle, the loudness of that melody alone announcing the arrival of the fae King. He was aware, to some degree, the way to crowd around them rose and yet, as those church doors opened, his attention was wholly focused upon that singular being among that veritable crowd. Nothing else in that moment, no one else in that moment, mattered quite as much to him as Dorian.

That warm simper spread across his features at the simple sight of the King - his King. That silver-grey hue only magnified the striking color of Dorian’s eyes, eyes that Sebastian himself could get lost in. That crown positioned upon the Monarch’s head was far more ornate than anything he’d seen yet, bringing a sort of refinement to the already elegant man. Those ceremonial robes fastened around his lover’s neck only further exemplified that very image of royalty. There was certainly no doubt that Dorian looked every bit the Monarch he was in that moment. He was altogether stunning. There was no doubt that, tonight, Sebastian was the envy of many to be marrying him. His bright blue eyes met the silver of his fiance’s. A glimpse of concern crossed the vampire’s features as Dorian remained where he was at the other end of that vast chapel. Dorian wasn’t regretting this…was he? No, he couldn’t be, not after all of that excitement that had been so clear within the fae the day prior. It was almost painful, that simple fact that he was forced to remain there. He watched, in silence, as Matteo uttered something in the King’s ear. His own vampiric hearing was far too assaulted by the music to hear those uttered words. Whatever it was, however, seemed enough to prompt the man to take that step forward.

Sebastian watched as his lover made his way, step by step down that aisle. His gaze never once shifted away from the Monarch, even though Dorian took that brief moment to eye the crowds that surrounded them. His hand slowly extended to the fae, his palm face up as if he was only further coaxing his lover towards him. He wanted to ask if everything was still okay, he wanted to make sure Dorian was still fine and yet, he was bound to stillness in that one singular place until Matteo quite literally gave Dorian to him. Some traditions, after all, still needed to be followed through, this one alone was of distinct importance to the Englishman. After all, his own relationship with the Frenchman was…rifled with oddities and particularly void of any such tenderhearted moments. This gesture was that final one of acceptance of their relationship that Sebastian found he particularly needed, even if this moment and Dorian’s momentary pause only left him with nothing but a bundle of nerves. And he had been so calm before!
