Sebastian Ellington

Crowned Consort of Italy

The Englishman had been utterly determined to remain a bachelor for the rest of his eternally long life. His marriage to his late wife had been his first and he had been quite content to ensure it was also his last. Though there was little doubt that Sebastian loved the woman, he was hardly unaware of all he had put her through. The man was assured that any individual he involved himself with would suffer in the same fashion that she had. It was a fate he hardly wished any soul to share. And yet, despite all of Sebastian's reservations, somehow, Dorian had found a way into his heart all the same. He was hardly assured that this marriage too would not end in some tragedy and yet, that love was so incredibly encompassing that there was little Sebastian was unwilling to do for the King. He had every intention of trying to please his fiancé in the fashion he had so failed his late wife. This time, at the very least, he could rely on Matteo to ensure Dorian remained safe from those feral tendencies he knew himself capable of when his own body was not well fed.

It was those very Fae that so lingered heavily upon his thoughts as that music swelled to announce Dorian’s arrival at that cathedral. His bright blue eyes turned near expectantly towards that entrance, that gaze focused solely on that man whom he was only moments away from promising himself to for an eternity. Sebastian was unaware of the true effect his own figure had upon the Fae King as he so awaited his soon to be husband. The finely tailored suit was unlike anything he had even truly worn for the King, accenting his muscular figure in just the right way. Rather, that unplanned hesitation at the opposite end of that seemingly infinitely long aisle only managed to coax a hint of concern within Sebastian as Matteo so uttered in Dorian’s ear, encouraging him forward and towards the vampire himself. He watched each step his lover took down that aisle, his bright blue eyes hardly deviating in that moment. Sebastian was entirely determined to remember that perfect moment and too, how utterly breathtaking Dorian was in that silver-grey suit with that regal crown and velveteen robe so fitted around his neck. In that singular moment, Dorian looked every bit the King that he truly was. That near beaming grin upon Dorian’s lips helped to settle those concerns prompted within him at that earlier hesitation. And soon Sebastian found that grin settled on his own lips in the near same fashion.

The vampire’s hand extended towards his lover as the man neared him and though he yearned to have the King in his grasp again, he too knew well the traditions required of them. The Pope’s voice rang out in that cathedral from behind him, prompting a shift in the Frenchman. Though the Fae shared Dorian’s blood alone, tonight, he represented both of their families. It was a task Sebastian was almost unsure if the man was truly ready for. In truth, the vampire was wholly uncertain of where he stood with his soon to be father-in-law. At times, it appeared as if Matteo was pleased with Dorian’s choice in him, and yet other times, that protectiveness Matteo had over the King too seemed to prompt an altogether subtle hint of displeasure. Was Matteo truly prepared to accept him as his own in the same fashion the Pope so inquired? Even though those two words were but tradition, Sebastian could hardly help that hint of relief that filled him at finally hearing them, as if he feared Matteo might say no at this final thing that might stop that very wedding from taking place, as ridiculous as that worry surely was. Still, as much as Sebastian disliked to admit it, those words struck a chord within him. Not only was it that acceptance of his new title as son-in-law, but too the simple mention of all those beings who could not be present, all those souls he lost to time who couldn't celebrate this very moment with him. His mother - whom he had never truly had a chance to know. His father, whom he had so devoted his life to make the man proud, even after death. His older brother and possibly the closest friend he had ever had. His sisters whom he had so freely doted on. None of them could be here, none of them could ever meet his son to be husband. All they had now was Matteo.

Even despite such thoughts on all Sebastian had lost, a small simper touched his features as Matteo’s gaze turned towards him. His own head bobbed in a small gesture of both thanks and respect before the Frenchman turned to move towards his own designated seat. It was only then, that the warmth of Dorian’s hand graced his own, that simple touch so immediately seized his attention. That gentle squeeze was returned with a small, reassuring one of his own as Sebastian turned to face the Pope with Dorian at his side, exactly as the man should be. He led them forward to the altar to take up that kneeling position upon the padded prie-dieux. The vampire himself hardly listened terribly to that biblical passage bestowed upon them, that age-old sermon hardly held as much meaning to him as the simple presence of the man beside him. It was difficult, truly, to be on his best behavior with the eyes of the world upon them. So very often, Sebastian found himself incapable of being within the Monarch’s presence without some form of physical touch - a hand upon the back, an arm around the waist, the King within his arms. To be merely confined to holding his lover’s hand when he simply yearned for the affections of the man he cherished was...confining, to say the least.

That request to finally rise was near delightful to hear as the two men rose to their feet, turning to face one another. Sebastian was acutely aware of that warmth that invaded his heart as his bright blue eyes met that silver hue of Dorian’s own. Even Sebastian was hardly immune to that emotion that filled him as the Pope uttered that question of that solemn promise to his lover, that firmness behind Dorian's simple words only served to bring that grin back to the vampire’s own features. Despite the Englishman’s once flighty nature, despite his past galavanting and whoring, those marriage vows were something Sebastian took with distinct seriousness. His own gaze softened as the Pope turned towards him, repeating that very same inquiry - to take Dorian as his own husband for an eternity, even in the face of life’s difficulties. His own blue eyes softened in the wake of that vow and yet, in this Sebastian had no hesitation in those words. “I do.”

In truth, those two words and that promised vow was something Sebastian had intended to fulfill for some time. Fate had bound them together and Dorian was nothing short of a bloody obsession now for the vampire. He had near need to cling to the man in a way he couldn’t quite explain - in a way he had once thought near pathetic of others. His whole life revolved around Dorian. Promising this was nothing short of easy. He could hear the rustling in the front seat as Giles and Alexander rose to fulfill their own part in that ceremony as those designated best men. It was time, after all, that those rings were properly blessed to take on their own meaning of that union in holy matrimony.
