Sebastian Ellington

Crowned Consort of Italy

Once upon a time, marriage was not a venture taken upon lightly. That ceremony, engagement and courting were done with particular care and only under the strict approval of both family’s watchful eye. Love, though a nice and romantic thing, was hardly as important in his youth to those social standings. To marry this high above one’s position would have surely been looked down upon. Once upon a time, this alone would have been a scandal, much less if those vows were to be broken in any fashion. Even though times had changed, and though the populace at large seemed to favor the couple, the permanence of those wedding vows still held every bit of importance to the Englishman. He could hardly deny how he so delighted in the simple fact that Dorian had promised that very eternity to him alone, the man entirely pleased to belong to the fae Monarch in the same fashion that he too drew satisfaction from so officially making Dorian his own - before the entirety of the world. That near instinctual possessiveness within the vampire was quite near as pleased as a purring kitten with the weight of that singular wedding band upon his finger.

He was hardly oblivious to that wetness within his lover’s eyes, even as he coaxed the man to breathe in preparation for that vow he still had yet to offer in return. He plucked that ring from it’s velveteen pillow, sliding it upon Dorian’s finger in the same fashion he had done all those months ago when he had proposed to the Monarch beneath those glistening stars on his own estate. That night, and even all the nerves that had come with it, of all those hours of preparation, all of it was worth this moment. Those bright blue eyes met the glassy silver hue of his lover’s own as Sebastian finally spoke those very vows he had all but intended to live by for some many months now. Weather or not they were truly said had stopped mattering to the vampire for some time. Once, he had resigned himself to merely being a favored concubine of the King’s if it meant even an hour at Dorian’s side - and now, to find himself but moments’ from being the man’s husband? All if it was far more then Sebastian had ever hoped for, the man so eagerly willing to commit the entirety of himself to the Italian Monarch whom had already had him for so long.

It was only once that ring was securely in place that Sebastian paused, only to utter that very final vow in unison with his soon-to-be husband. That very promise encompassed far more then Sebastian had ever truly given to anyone, even his own late wife and yet, he found himself willing to trust his very soul mate in fashions that he had not prior trusted another soul. That silence in the wake of those solemnly uttered words was all but near deafening, at least, until the Pope’s voice filled the very crevices of that holy place. How he had longed to hear those simple words the Pope so bestowed upon them! The very finality of that union so dawning upon the man as Dorian shifted ever closer, his own hand briefly settled upon his lover’s waist as his lips so sweetly met Dorian’s own - his husband’s own. That chaste display of affection was far more tame then Sebastian truly wished to bestow upon the King and yet, that near thunderous applause of hands through that cathedral served as a steady reminder that not only were they not alone, but too that the world was watching and judging that first official ceremony between same-sex royalty. God, how hard that restraint was!

It was a good thing, perhaps, that Dorian had the sense to step away from the vampire. That sense of control so decidedly fragile when so many emotions so ran through his system. The Pope’s voice, somehow, rang out over that applause, soon hushing that congregation once more whilst also serving as a reminder of those very final aspects that needed to be seen to in order to ensure the finality of that marriage in the eyes of the law. Sebastian allowed himself to be led towards that awaiting marriage certificate. His gaze briefly met Giles’ own, the elder appearing man seemed altogether….ecstatic. This was, he was sure, the near happiest he’d seen the fellow, his own wedding and birth of his son aside. That grin was quite near infectious as his attention shifted back towards Dorian, those blue eyes followed the swish of that pen as the Monarch signed that infinitely long last name they had finally decided upon. It was only once his lover was finished that the vampire took that offered pen, taking up his own place before that silken covered table. His own name was easy enough to scribble upon that official document, so little of it changing, unlike what Dorian had to become newly accustomed to. It was the first time, truly, he had penned his lover’s own last name and yet, now it was his as well. Frankly, as he put down that pen, Sebastian decided he rather liked the look of it.

A small tug of Dorian’s hand was all that was required to pull at Sebastian’s attention, even if he knew well what came next. That rehearsal from the night before had quite clearly gone over his own brief coronation and the singular words required of him. His fingers slowly dropped his husband’s hand as Dorian moved to take his own rightful place beside his Holiness, as the ruling Monarch of the Italian throne. That promise to help assist the very people of Italy was hardly a difficult one, this, perhaps, the easiest of the three that he knew were to come. “I will.” His voice was clear and certain, far more then the vampire felt at this newfound role he discovered himself within. He provided his lover with his right hand, the vampire simply watching as that ring was slid upon his finger, this one denoting his new rank of royalty. That reassuring grin Dorian so provided to him in that moment was certainly….unexpected, and not at all unwelcome, considering that it was this new title alone that gave the vampire the most anxiety. That mention of law, justice, and mercy too fell within the realm of Sebastian’s own capabilities, at least, in some regards. The vampire was at least assured that he would not fail utterly abysmally in this regard, those two words echoed with the same assurance. “I will.” That sword he was offered was taken was a bit more hesitance as the vampire slowly hung that sheathed blade against his waist. How long had it been since he’d carried a sword? He could scarcely remember the last time. He paused as Dorian reached forward to pluck that Consort crown from his head - this final inquiry the one that made him the most nervous, not for the responsibilities gifted by words so much as the sheer weight of that vastly more ornate symbol of royalty. “I will.” He uttered, his tone slightly softer in that moment as The Pope himself so placed that crown upon his head, cementing his newest position in life not only as Dorian’s husband, but too as the very Prince of Italy.

Sebastian had to admit that the presence of Dorian once again at his side had a near calming effect on the vampire, the ending of that coronation surely helped to chase away those very butterflies, not that much had been required of him for it to begin with. He could hardly help the release of that breath he hadn’t quite realized he’d been holding as the Pope’s voice once again rang out behind them, finally announcing them to the world - as husbands. That warm simper crossed his lips all over again, his hand gingerly squeezed Dorian’s own as that applause once again filled those very halls. It was the sound of music, somewhere beneath the clapping, that signaled that wordless acceptance that they were finally allowed to move, those doors at the other end of that church so easily opened to them. His gaze briefly met the silver hue of Dorian’s eyes as he nodded slightly towards the door, entirely willing to lead his lover out and into the cold night air beyond. That walk up the aisle with Dorian’s hand nestled within his own seemed far shorter then the one down it and, soon enough, the pair were welcomed by the fan fair that so awaited them outside.

Despite the crowd of people that near blanketed every surrounding space beyond those gates and that secured path, Sebastian’s attention remained entirely acute upon that gilded carriage that so awaited them. That blue-silver color of Italian Monarchy so seemed to shine when combined with those golden accents that so lined the windows of that carriage. Those flourishes decorated the doors and the roof of the half open carriage. The very support beams and doors were too colored that same golden hue, as were the lanterns that hung both before and after it, casting an ethereal sort of light on the royal carriage. Eight ivory horses stood at attention before it, accompanied only with more equestrian after to make up their guard on that journey back to the palace. Slowly, Sebastian approached that carriage, gesturing lightly to ensure the Monarch and his far larger cape were able to get inside, and safely, before the new Prince of Italy joined him.
