East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

As a girl growing up, there hadn't been much about her that made it to where she stood out in school and in all truth her childhood has been almost like every other little girl's aside from the fact that the family business provided financial comforts that not all her age were afforded back home. Like most girls, she'd been a bright star in the milky way, bright and shining and the light in her mother's eyes. Like most girls, she was loved by both her mother and father though it was her father that always doted so heavily upon the radiant young girl whose hair had been a pale sunshine yellow, so often fashioned in those curly cues that her mother always seemed to enjoy styling them in. She'd had many friends as a child, having been as friendly and bright as she was in this very moment while standing there beside the table which the dark haired guy was seated at. She'd spend her days being loved absolute looked after, even by her big brother when he had been younger and not so keen on no longer being the only child. As any good big brother, he had been there to defend the girl's honor, having once punched one of her schoolyard bullies square in the nose for taunting young Elain to tears, and when she'd had her heart broken by the very few boys that had ever been special to her, he had done the same. It wasn't long until she had the stubborn trouble-making boy just as wrapped around her little finger as mother and father, all of them willing to muse the radiant girl in whatever games of imagination she desired. Back then, life had been so much simpler... perfect even. But as the saying goes, nothing good ever lasts forever.

Elain strived every day to make a lie out of that saying though, bound ad determined to prove that some things were grand enough that they did last forever. After all, she had forever too look forward to more or less. A shudder nearly touching her slender frame graced in womanly curves when she remembers the tradition both she and her brother had gone through to become what they were. It has been the most pain she had ever felt in her life, and thinking back to that moment it still frightened her to think of just how close she'd come to dying that day. She had trusted in her father though, trusted his associates that assisted in the ceremony that Lazarus had endured before Elain. Their entire family was a family of dark hunters after all, even her own dear mother had once been a dangerous woman in her younger days before she'd settled down with the love of her life and decided to start a family of their own. It with something that the woman with long flowing locks of wild honey weaved into that braid draped elegantly over her shoulder had wanted for herself, but she also was not about to break what was part of family tradition for many generations. And, as though some higher power had heard her heart, when she'd survived the ordeal and been welcomed into the Darays as a dark huntress, she'd discovered that her gift she'd been given was not one to harm but rather it was one to heal. So pure and good was the life force within the young woman that not even fate saw fit to thrust her into a life of ensuring the other supernaturals did not overwhelm the world. That being said, she'd witnessed her brother's skill he'd been given and she had almost trembled as she watched him train with their father. One of life's greater demons manifested in fear, and knowing that Lazarus was capable of inducing fear into anyone was a frightening enough thought all on its own. Elain was determined to be against the grain of the stereotypical dark hunter race, though, and with such a gift as her own it would not be hard to accomplish.

Glacier blue eyes remain settled upon the young man with those startling amber hues that seemed so... solemn. There was a distance in them that spoke of someone who lived in a world of his own, and she could almost swear she might have seen demons of a past flickering across those eyes unlike any she'd seen before. Everyone had their own demons that followed them and while perhaps most would have been put off by the lack of expression that danced across those handsome features, there seeming to be so little interest in the world that surrounded him, Elain was only drawn further into him. Perhaps it was because a part of him reminded the honey blonde of her big brother, though she doubted Benjamin was anywhere near as jaded and socially incapable as the man with messy caramel locks. There was a vast difference between being socially distant or disinterested and being a grade a douchebag with poor etiquette with sociopathic tendencies. She loved Lazarus with all her heart, she would stand up for him if anyone dared to threaten his honor. He was her brother and her only family left. But that didn't mean she agreed with his less than savory attitude issues, and half the time his friend Donovan did little to nothing to try and encourage that the fearsome man at least try and act like a human being around others. Looking down at Benjamin, she saw no trace of that harshness she saw easily in her bit brother. Yes, she thought that he was cute, but it wasn't simply that handsome face that sparked her interest in the young man that looks back at her. She couldn't really explain it, but whatever it was, she liked it.

Shaking her hand, his smooth tenor tones reply to her own and eyes of early morning frost glitter with amusement as a gentle note of laughter slips fleetingly past her lips dancing with a sweet and radiant smile. He might have thought himself to have much of a sense of humor - or so suggested his voice and further demonstrated his lack of emotion - but Elain found amusement in his words."I'm sure you have many of them with those eyes and brooding expression of yours. They say that such expressions suggest the potential for greatness", she says lightly, almost teasingly as she dared to offer him a wink. Was she flirting? She wouldn't necessarily call it that, considering it more of a playful gesture than anything that might have been suggestive but she saw little need to try and defend her actions that came so spontaneously to her. If he wanted to think she were flirting, then she was alright with that. He truly was cute, after all. Oh, how Lazarus would love to know she was intrigued by a stranger she just met that also happened to be a male her age. She didn't mind that he did not smile in response to her words or laugh, she was simply Ellie just as he was simply Benjamin. She refused to let his lack of apparent emotion to have an affect on her, content to completely and entirely accept him as he was. Amusement freely flicker across those glacier eyes as he seems to grow shy beneath her compliment but she figuratively shrugs it away. Maybe he wasn't as used to such words as she assumed he was.

He blinks at her as those words fall into the still busy air of the café while he bends over the grab his bag that had been sitting a his feet. She was somewhat surprised by his invitation to join him on the bus to college, but it was a pleasant surprise. How else would she get to know him better if they just parted ways now when they were both stepping through that metaphorical threshold to seeing more than a name and a face to the other? The honey blonde was always eager to make a new friend, and though Benjamin didn't come across as they type also sharing this same openness, she was sure that if he would allow her to befriend him, she would seize that opportunity readily. So, her smile becomes brighter as she nods happily to his words."I'd love to tag along, so long as you don't mind", she answers radiantly as she moves towards the door of the café, taking another sip of her white mocha before reached from the handle and opening the entrance to Inner Sanctum, the cool fall air rushing in and kissing her cheeks softly. She casts a glance over her shoulder to ensure that he was following her before she walks out, pausing to wait for him."So, what classes are you currently taking? Drama? Physiology? Chemistry? All of the above?", she asks inquisitively, as was entirely natural for the young woman. How was one to learn more if they did not ask questions? Lazarus always tells her that she talks way too much, and maybe she does, but she considered words to be an extention to from one soul to another and so she would simply give the man a playful roll of her eyes and a bemused "whatever you say" before continuing not to heed his tone of warning. If there was any sort of similarity between the siblings, it was that stubbornness that they both carried with them - hers just expressed itself in a much more subtle way. She walks beside Benjamin, stray strands tickling her cheeks in a passing breeze as she watches her walking companion curiously, ready to see what else might be hiding beneath those fierce amber eyes.
