East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

It feels like I only go backwards

It would be simple to say Ludo slept soundly that night. Yet he shuffled about on the couch tossing and turning as his mind kept wandering to the woman that laid half naked in his bedroom. Boy, did she have no idea what she had gotten herself into. Ludo sat there, just glad that he was better judgement than most men, and that she could have really gotten herself into a predicament if it were some gawk man. In the middle of the night, Ludo awoke from his restless slumber sitting up with sleep filled eyes. Rubbing one eye, he stood up and shuffled over to the kitchen. As he grabbed water from the faucet his gaze danced over to the two empty hot cocoa mugs and a small smile danced across his features. She did say it was the best hot cocoa she ever had he joked pridefully to himself.

Before he embarked on his small journey back to the sofa, he tip-toed quietly into the bedroom to check on Miya. "Heh," he chuckled aloud as he saw her sprawled out in all directions, drool trickling down her face. She was out like a light. The moonlight that cascaded down from the window illuminated Miya's porcelain skin. He couldn't help but admire her for a moment, as silence surrounded them. Walking over, his stomach churned. Leaning down, he lips softly met her forehead. Somehow, he knew that, that was the only affection he would ever be able to give her. He grabbed the covers and slid them up to cover Miya's shoulders. "Goodnight," he whispered as he carefully closed the door and made his way back to the living room with the record spinning silently about.

It was one of those nights, where more thoughts invaded his mind than he found necessary. He couldn't help but miss his old life. Where he could surround himself with his family, boisterous meals every weekend night, hanging out with his friends whether it was a night out or just being around company. Frankly, he missed feeling satisfied in life. This city hadn't brought anything desirable into play for him other than the boundless money that was fed into his bank account from each of his missions. That's not what he ultimately wanted though. What he longed for was connection.

It took him a while before he dozed off from his mindset into a deep sleep. This time, he was down for the count. The intrusive light that shone through his windows or the awoken Miya couldn't rattle him awake. Or perhaps, it was Miya that could startle him awake. "What did you do to me last night?" he jumps up into a sitting position, confused as to what Miya was yelling about. Yawning as he tries to make sense of things he asks questionably, "What? What do you mean what did I do to you? Can you remember anything that happened last night?" By the looks of Miya's colorless face, she could not recall anything. "Oh no," Ludo breathed to himself. "Okay, take a deep breath, it's not what it looks like," he started to stand only to realize that he was down to his boxers.

"Uh, scusi, one sec," Ludo quickly stated as he grabbed for the pair of jeans on the floor and slipped them on. He saw her grab herself in a way that openly assumed he had done something, sexual to her. Now he was annoyed. "Do you really think if we had done something I'd be on the couch? In boxers?" He guffawed, a slight irritation drawn furrowing in his brows. Waiting for her to try and piece two and two together and still not coming up with any reasonable solutions, he sighed as he rubbed his drowsy face. "You might want to sit down as I explain this," Ludo motions to the couch, yet he was still standing. "After the pub you decided you wanted to go on an adventure, which happened to take us to a fountain in the square. You thought it was a good idea to chuck your coin into the fountain while still in it. You slipped and fell into the water. I didn't know what else I was supposed to do other than take you someplace to get dry. My house wasn't far from there, so I just walked you here. Your clothes are in the dryer if you want to change." He waltzed over to the dryer and grabbed out her clothes from last night. "Here," he said as he placed her clothes into her hands. "I'm sorry to have made you worry, but I promise you nothing happened," he stated firmly, staring right into her innocent eyes.
