East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

He could feel her suspicion but he didn't take it personally. Maybe over time she would grow to trust him or maybe she wouldn't. That would be up to her. Still, at least she was willing to take his help. It was more like sh didn't expect good things to happen to her. That's no way to live. He'd had his share of up's and down's in life but he never thought his whole life would end up in the gutter. Of course he had multiple lifetimes in which to change his luck and she didn't have that luxury.

He could feel her slowing with every step but still he didn't say anything. He just kept slowing down, ready to help her only when she was ready to let him. She didn't seem that surprised that he said he had humans at his house. A lot of vampires usually kept around a few humans but it seemed to always be for different reasons. Some kept blood donors to feed from. He was rich enough to just buy blood from the local hospital and blood banks. They turn a blind eye when you have the money to back it up. Maybe he just liked the company. He'd had his cook Adele for a while, 40-50 years, something like that. She had gotten over her initial fear of him the first few years and now she mothered him just she would anyone else. His maid Darlene was a chatty thing but she was full of life and he liked that. He just wished shed stop trying to seduce him with less than appropriate outfits and gestures to get his attention. He knew that look. She wanted to be changed but he wouldn't do it, not for her, not for anyone. Look what happened to Julia.

He glanced over when she grinned, saying cats are hard to train cause they're independent. He smirked. "Guess we have that in common then." He could read the affection in her voice as she looked at the cat. The whole relationship thing might be odd to him but it looked like it was working for her. She looked happy and he'd count that as a win. He knew once he got her to his house, she wouldn't have a problem relaxing. He had a huge bathroom with a garden tub and a roomy shower and all of his guest rooms had a king sized bed with satin sheets. Not that he ever had guests over. He was sure Adele would be surprised.

She didn't hesitate to point out that he had a lot more time to figure stuff out than she did. He smirked again, his eyes twinkling. "Or you could always ask the experts." It was obvious he meant himself. When he watched her for a minute, he noticed she started looking uncomfortable, color flooding her cheeks so he looked away. He usually forgot how intense his gaze could be. He managed to make her laugh anyway but the cat looked less than impressed. At her comment about him brake checking him, he chuckled. "Well if he gets any more aggressive about it, just know I'm taking you down with me to catch my fall."

He instantly tried to catch her when she moved into him, not even noticing the shadows at first. He glanced down once he did, one brow raising since he knew she controlled them. He glanced up when the cat made a sound, almost thinking he needed to jump to the cats defense of all things but he saw it was only the shadows and Sorcha looked at the same time, her look making the shadows dissipate before she pulled back, her smile apologetic but he only smiled in response. When she shivered, he asked if she was cold and offered his jacket. He smiled when she took it, wrapping it around her. The possessive part of him was satisfied that she would now smell like him and keep other vampires at bay. In their world, she was his, at least in this time.

Then she turned to him with questions. He chuckled and thought for a second. "Well i was born in 930 so I guess that makes me about 1080 years old, something like that." He shrugged like it was no big deal. He didn't mind taking about his life. He wouldn't go into great detail in some parts, but for the most part, it was good enough to remember. At her question, he threw his head back and laughed before shaking his head. "No, i cant turn into a bat...but i do have a badass Dracula accent." He whispered back at the end, his eyes watching her teasingly.

As they turned a corner, he paused to let her look. His house was on a block by itself, a large iron fence around the yard that housed a beautiful garden in the back and trimmed hedges and flowers, galore. It was more of a mansion, two stories with a large balcony for the second story. It looked freshly painted. He smirked and waved his hand. "This is it. Make yourself at home." He led the way to the house and opened the door for her. A woman poked her head into the foyer at the sound, her eyes going wide at the sight of Erik before she beamed and embraced him. "I wasn't expecting you! Where have you been hiding?!" Erik chuckled, kissing her cheek as she released him. "I found myself back in town and picked up a stowaway." He glanced toward Sorcha with a wry smirk. Adele caught sight of her and gasped, reaching for her shoulders. "Honey, you come right this way. Let's get you a nice warm bubble bath going." She spoke soothingly, steering Sorcha toward the master bath and Erik just watched with an amused smirk.
