East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

I'm about to make my own way, heaven help me keep my faith

Until learning, rather remembering, exactly what she was, and causing old memories to surface, Kathryn's life had seemed to strode forward seemingly to the beat of a single drum. A trivial thing if left its own accord, but Kathryn had been content with her life and her plan. But now other instruments had been added, instruments Kathryn was not so sure how to play, and the young witch was trying to decide whether it was some kind of chaotic symphony, or instead a sweet serenade which could serve as the soundtrack to her new life as a blossoming witch girl. She realizes her potential, and what she could do with such powers, but Kathryn is unsure of what steps she wants to take next, not even certain of which side was for good, which side was for evil, or if there even was a clear cut line. Why couldn't this all just be so much more simple?

Her original plan was clear cut and simple. Kathryn had stayed in her hometown for far too long of a time, having done all of her high school there and then gone to a college nearby. She was able to get her Masters of Business degree online, rather than having to move to a place to go to school. Kathryn already had her career locked in and ahead of her. After she obtained her Masters, she would return to her hometown and work as second to her Grandad in his whiskey business, learning the ropes of owning a business and learning about the employees from the farmers to the managers, to the marketers and the buyers. Some of which have been either loyal employees or customers for years and Kathryn would have to learn it all. Eventually, when her Grandad chose to retire (if he ever would, the man never seemed to want to stop) but the plan was for Kathryn to take over the business.Something that she would be very capable of her grandfather had said... after she receives her Masters in Business.

It had actually been her grandparents that had suggested going outside of their home, to some place unknown while she did her online degree, since she would be able to do it any where. "I want you to see some other places before you settle in to the business, try new things, make sure taking over is something you really wish to do. You know it won't hurt my feelings Kat if this isn't what you want," he grandad had said to her with his big grin. Kathryn had always wished she had her Grandad's smile, it was so large, toothy, and inviting. When he smiled you could not help but to smile back. But after he had spoken those words, the young witch had thrown her arms around him to hold him in a tight embrace. She loved him so much in that moment. The man who had been both father and grandfather to her when her own father had never had the opportunity to get to know her in such a way. Her grandfather never balked at raising yet another child at his age, but had welcomed the opportunity whole heartedly, loving Kathryn in such a special as her father (stern, yet supportive) and grandfather (spoiling her rotten and expelling his wisdom). And while she knows her father would have loved the opportunity to care for his baby girl (he started building a crib the day he found out her mother was pregnant) Kathryn knows that he is watching her from the skies above, no doubt confident she received all the love a growing child needed from her grandparents, who were more like parents to the blue-eyed witch.

After much deliberation, Sacrosanct ended up being the place for Kathryn to make her residence. Far enough from home that a trip back needed to be planned in advance, but not too far if there was an emergency, a quick trip could be possible. Sacrosanct had been a city her dad had travelled to often for business, and though the connection to the city and her dad was small, it was still comforting to know that the sidewalk she strolled upon could have been the very ground her dad walked over when he had been her age.

The whiskey hits her taste buds with a smooth ferocity, she enjoys the taste, the whiskey here did seem to live up the standards that the establishment had set forth upon itself. Kathryn has been tasting whiskey since she was old enough to hold a glass, her Grandad believed whiskey was a delicacy of sorts, not just a drink to get you drunk, and so he saw no harm in the child having so little to drink that it could barely fill a thimble. But suave voice of a stranger is enough to completely bring Kathryn back from Cloud 9.

She turns to see a man with a doggish, smug smirk upon his labrums, and Kathryn immediately feels exhausted by him, his energy, his presence, everything about him is just instantly draining to the young witch. But his comment about her being 'cute to boot,' causes a half-hearted, unfriendly snicker to pass from her lips and towards the earthen haired man. He was handsome, Kathryn wouldn't deny him the compliment (though she would never tell him) but beauty doesn't last a lifetime, it fades, wisdom and years taking its place on the body and mind. An impish grin takes part on Kathryn's own face. She offers no response to the man from his comment, merely just watches with those china doll blue eyes of hers as he orders a drink, similar in color to her own. She blinks at him, eyes falling briefly underneath those long, feminine lashes as dark as a starless night. The young witch finally parts her lips to speak, "Oh, I don't think we will be hanging together so long that we should express such formalities as names." A sneer towards the man as she tucks a long silent strand of hair behind her ear that seemed have escaped its confinement. She turns to the bartender, blue eyes attempting to catch his attention. "Excuse me, can I get my bill, please? Thank you," she says before glancing sideways to the stranger who just had to choose the stool next to hers, when there were dozens of open spots available. "Hope you like drinking alone," she says, her voice bright but there lay a hidden fire giving a certain heat to herd words, carried elegantly towards Levi like the wind that she wields under her control. She waits for her bill to come, handing a credit card his way to take and pay for it, but she adds, as if just merely an afterthought. "And whatever thisâ€"guy is drinking, add it on my bill," she says, having fought the urge to call him a douche bag or something of the sort. A graceful hand with nail polish painted a vibrant, summer orange, like the fire that burns under her skin but has not yet reared its head, is placed on Levi's shoulder for just a moment. "Absolutely lovely chatting with you today," she says, sarcasm leeching onto her words with a wild hunger, before dropping her hand from his shoulder and strolling towards the exit.

Kathryn gives one last look over her tanned shoulder towards him, glacier blue eyes steady as she looks for only a moment. He was indeed good looking, but, Kathryn can just keep that her own little secret.
