East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

SSDD. Same shit, different day. Seriously. That's how it's always been. I feed the horses over at the stable. I drop off some homemade muffins to Tetradore, and then spend about 8 hours a day here in what should be considered a Sanctum. As the assistant manager here I can tell you that there are days when this place is Hell on earth. Yea, that's right. This place can be Hell. Customer Service. God damn customer service. It is not glamorous, it is not pretty. Now I didn't choose to do this job, because someone attempted to make me believe this was the perfect job ever. If anyone was that gullible they deserve to rot in this hellish place. I just joined, because Alexander asked and needed some help. I needed something to do with my spare time. Trust me, living off my parent's trust fund doesn't really give me a need to be around. Working at a coffee shop doesn't either. However, a job is a job. In the evening things are a bit better. That's when I get to prance around in my horse form performing different exercises with and without my rider in the Mounted Unit. I hardly ever talk to the other Weres, because they hardly ever talk to me. That's okay though. I don't need them. I don't really need anyone. I know that sounds absolutely awful, but it is the truth. No one ever needed me unless they could get something from me. That's how the world works...and funny that, that's how customer service is too!

This morning was absolutely awful. The machine decided to go on the fritz again. Which means some very aggravated and irritated people! I know people now cannot function without their cup of joe, but do they really have to be jerks about it? I mean come on coffee isn't everything is it? I mean the serbs in the middle ages didn't wake up and work tedious of their days with coffee. I mean they could function without it. Couldn't we do the same? They drank a lot of alcohol though to get them through the day...and they didn't work a lot with machinery. Now I know I shouldn't be telling people to stop drinking coffee, because then I would be out of a job, but I am telling people TO BE FUCKING NICE! I mean isn't that like the Golden Rule? Treat others as you should be treated? Christians are people that follow Christ, so you would think they of all people wouldn't be so intolerably assholes. Now with our culture everyone's starting to lose faith and not believe in anything anymore. That's all right. To each their own. However, that doesn't mean you have the right to be a self-righteous, impatient prick. Luckily though I know all the right places to smack and beat that machine into submission, working again, just so we can quickly make those magical elixirs. With all our 9 to 5 working customers out of the café we can finally enjoy the peace and quiet...and prepare for the next rush.

We have this new girl on staff that I swear to God is a complete walking and talking klutz. She is a sweetheart though. We all like her even though she is completely helpless. We tried giving her easy tasks. Like mopping the floor. She'll mop one side of the place, turnaround, and think she has to mop it again, because she didn't before...only to slip and fall. We gave her kitchen duty. Wash all the items and she did pretty good. Until she somehow broke the sink and ripped the sink hose off, and then caused the dryer to catch on fire. No idea how she did that. I decided to take her under my wing and prepare all the cooked items. Which, silly me, we have to using cook utensils...which is not good for her, but she hasn't cut herself yet. So, I'll consider that a win. While I'm looking over the books I notice that my little walking accident is trying to ring up her first order. I thought this would be a good time for her to practice, because it wasn't the morning rush. Unfortunately for me, the girl was dealing with a customer that I usually saw in the morning rush. Clearly he was late and not having a good day and our poor girl was trying to take his complicated order perfectly. She didn't and he was all too eager to announce it. So eager in fact that he had no idea that I was in no mood for his crap. Immediately I caused his nerves to light up on fire in his hand as he tried to take another drink to prove his point, that he spilt that extremely hot coffee all over his face. With a smirk I turn more pain on him around his face and neck the man yowling, jumping up and down as he quickly left the café.

We're back to peace and quiet again and I guess this place could not be a safe haven. Pulling the girl into a comforting hug I whisper in her ear to return back to making some food. Grabbing the mop and bucket I casually walk on over from the counter and begin to clean up his mess. It was the loud cackling noise from a new patron that caught my attention. Looking up I give Marcelo a small smile.

"Got to love karma, right?"
