East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

death incarnate & night triumphant

Andras had promised himself he would stay well away from Lani - at least until she was ready to speak to him. He was entirely certain he had destroyed any semblance of a relationship, whether it was romantic or not, the, now Fae, woman kicking him to the curb. He understood, truly he did. If the roles were swapped he imagined he would feel the same way, he had, undoubtedly, murdered her to finish the shift to immortality. It was, perhaps, not the most wisest decision he had ever made - forcing someone into a change without asking for their permission. The thought of Lani ceasing to exist had pushed him over that veritable edge, where panic gripped him and he thought of little else. The understanding in Troy's eyes that night hardly did anything for the guilt that still clung to him, that would forever cling to him.

Lani had eventually left the city and though Ida told him not to, he couldn't help but send someone after her. Always watching and protecting from the darkness and shadows, that very protector reporting back to Andras was its own torture in itself. So, when the most recent report had announce that Lani had returned to the city he couldn't help himself. He donned his usual dark attire, leaving that newly renovated townhouse to wander into the new shopping center. Andras repeated his mantra, stay away, stay away - he merely wanted a glimpse of her to see that she was alive and well. Honestly, the Fae male was no better than a stalker at this point as he wound his way through the crowd, carefully making his way towards the area that his shadow stated she was

His dark hazel eyes flick through the crowd, waiting to spy that familiar face that haunted even his waking dreams. Hands sliding into his pockets he dodges the mass of people out enjoying their day, the promise of sun enticing even the most introverted of people to wander out. Andras would have liked to thought he was the same, simply taking the day to enjoy the sunshine. He practically had convinced himself that was exactly what he was doing until her scent caressed him. Andras pauses midst-ride, going wholly still as the Fae could. He was vaguely aware of the human crashing into his back, the man going as far as to curse at him before shooting a dirty glare in his direction and moving on. Furrowing his brows, he scans the crowd once more just as his gaze lands in those familiar pale curls.

Every rational thought eddied out of his head.

Even from this distance he could see what immortality had done to her. The utter grace she held herself with, her beauty only enhanced more. He wasn't thinking of the panic or the despair that would surely engulf Lani as he resumed his stride, his hands pulling out of his pockets as he moves closer, when he was mere feet away he could see the stiffening of her shoulders as his scent wrapped around her. There would be no more sneaking up on her anymore. It was that movement that has him stopping, he should leave. Now. He had time, he could turn on a heel and walk away before she turned around but his indecisiveness cost him as her body turns towards him.

Wariness fills his eyes, his hands desperately wanting to reach out and trail across her cheek but instead, he shifts them back to his pockets. "Lani," he says hesitantly, wanting to fill the void of silence between the two of them. He would leave right now if she told him to, no questions asked. He shifts almost uncomfortably, a movement that wasn't very common with him. "You're... you're back," he mumbles quietly, those dark tones coating his every words.
