East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Raven Cain

These pregnancy classes that her Doctor strongly encouraged her to attend were pretty good. Raven was learning a lot, and she felt a bit more prepared with the knowledge that she had. Some of the things she learned she would repeat to her mate when he was in the right frame of mind. Whether they clicked or not remained to be seen. Raven was grateful that Mira was willing to attend these sorts of classes with her, because she didn't have to spend her afternoon doing this together. Besides, she enjoyed hanging out with the woman afterwards. Usually the lessons were fun, or at least interesting, but today's lesson was a bit...extreme. As much as she appreciated the instructor exposing the harsh reality of this stage in the pregnancy, it all seemed a bit too much. Then again, maybe the instructor was trying to remind them that it was okay for everyone to be delighted about the pregnancy, but they shouldn't forget the ugly side of it too. It was better to be safe than sorry. With class being done, Raven was happy to place some distance between herself and the room where she saw what her fate would be in just a few months. Feeling Mira lean into her, she gently leaned her shoulder next to her own, appreciating the touch. A bit of color slowly started to return to her face when she grinned and playfully rolled her eyes at Mira's comment from her joke earlier. While hormones could be a bit overpowering for teens, surely at least a few of them would think twice before engaging in the act...well...maybe. Shuffling along she managed to nod quietly, she wasn't traumatized before, but now well...she'd be lying if she wasn't. Pulling her golden-brown curls behind her ear, she helplessly shrugged a responded softly.

"It's like the instructor said. We focus and prepare for the fun stuff, but we hardly prepare for the things no one wants to talk about. Imagine if we had one of the guys come with us and they witnessed this. Think they would have passed out? That one guy in the row in front of us looked like he was about to go down."

Truthfully, she was shocked that Mira wouldn't want to remove her memory of what they had just witnessed. The idea of food though wasn't what she expected her to say. However, as they walked, she could hear her stomach growl, and she could have sworn she felt the baby kick in agreement on the idea of getting food. Tilting her head to the side she extended her hand and gently placed it on her swollen stomach, pondering on what she or her cub was craving. There were so many choices and they all sounded wonderful. There was one treat she always loved getting at the mall and that was a soft pretzel. Who could resist the taste of a soft pretzel! And yet she did want to munch on something crunchy. Gosh, why did she have to crave food that wasn't healthy?! Moving her hands in the pockets of her hoodie, she stroked her belly gently as she told her friend what they'd like.

"We'd like a soft pretzel, nachos and...a coke! Maybe later we can do a hot fudge sundae with pickles. It's weird I know, but it really does taste good together!"

Really, she could not understand why she would want junk food and not something a bit more nutritious. Maybe she wanted to use this chance to eat her feelings? They don't talk about it much, but Raven was growing more stressed and terrified on a weekly basis. Was she going to be a good Mother? Would the birth of their child go well, or will it go poorly like one of the scenarios they just watched? What if she couldn't feed her own kid? What if they came back from the hospital and their car gets hit and they crash? What if one of those Dark Hunters or Vampires kidnapped her cub and forced them into that damn warehouse with all the other kidnapped supernatural creatures. What if her Dad showed up?! What if God forbid, she or her cub died? These negative thoughts and more just kept churning over and over again, and it was driving her mad at times. Shaking her head to dismiss such thoughts she changed the topic to a much more exciting one. Amused by Mira acting hurt that she didn't know about the gender of her cub, she giggled and gave her a playful wink.

"Oh, come on Mira...you didn't die from not knowing, did you?"
Taking her hand out of her pocket she reached over to grab Mira's hand and held it gently. Leading the she-wolf over towards the far side of the corridor, allowing the other mall goers to walk past them, she leaned over closely to the other woman giving her a wide grin.

"We're having a son Mira...I-I'm giving him a son! We won't know the species until he does his first shift, but it doesn't matter. I just hope he turns out healthy and we both make it out alive. Oh!"

The expecting Mother let out a sharp gasp as she felt the little cub start to kick and move around. Bringing Mira's hand over to her stomach, she would press her hand gently to the side of her stomach so that the woman could feel it kick. Letting go of Mira's' hand so she could have a better feel of the little cub moving about, Raven murmured quite softly.

"I am sure he'll be just like his Father, a little bit of a mischief maker."

i'm ashamed of the world for not understanding.
