East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

there are as many truths as stars in the sky, and everyone of them different
perhaps that is the only real truth

There was something to be said about being fashionably late and it usually wasn't as glossy and glamorous as others figure it to be. She had gotten caught up in the brewing of her potions for she was in desperate need to restock for sales had begun to spike. It was a nice trend and who knew if it would last forever? She needed all the money she could get to put back if she was to one day leave her studio apartment or to even purchase a vehicle. Or to start a legitimate business place at a permanent base. But those were future things that she hadn't quite gotten a chance to even dream about. Life was busy and her mind often spun back to Booker, wondering what he was doing at any given moment of the day and reaching down to pet Darwin often as his presence now reminded her of the brilliant lightness on his face when he had seen the cat. A cat-loving man was a very rare find and one that should definitely not be let go easily. Back to her potions, mortar and pestle clicking and rubbing, arms tense from grinding herbs that were strewn all across her kitchen table in the one-room apartment. Her lips moved slightly over a few of them, chants and sing-song rhymes that often worked.

As she finished her last potion, the liquid turning a sheer sheen of silver she sighs, leaning back into her chair and glancing at the clock on the wall. 9 pm. Holy shit! She bolts upright, hip knocking on the table and a curse flying from her mouth at the sharp pain. She is quick to reach her dresser and bed - on the other side of the open-floored apartment - and grabbing the gown that lies out across it. It is a replica of the black dress worn by Ravenna in the more modern version of Snow White and the Huntsman, one of her favorites. Plus she found the irony quite entertaining to herself, dressing up like a wicked sorceress when she was close to that anyways.

She dresses up, twisting her black hair into a bun with pieces falling around her face and outlining her eyes in eyeliner before grinning at the mirror, light green eyes the color of moss twinkling. And so it begins. It is a decent walk from her apartment to the party but she finds others in costumes well before she arrives, grinning at each one. The moment she enters the place she feels a suffocating heat from so many people but the atmosphere is rich with drink and fun and she moves gracefully between dancing partners to the edge of the floor where she bumps into a lady pirate. One hand reaches out to stop the girl from stumbling and to keep herself upright, landing on her shoulder while Sorcha gives her an embarrassed grin.

"Sorry about that! So many people here!" She says, and yet she feels something... different about the girl. Maybe it is the source of power she feels in that touch, a connection, and her eyes search her face curiously, wondering if she was right about her hunch. They at stable now and she withdraws her hand, holding it out now for a shake. "I'm Sorcha Northwoods."
