Arlo James

See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch

Maybe he had been a bit too hasty in judging Malek. He seemed a decent enough guy, he supposed. The long hair was a bit unusual on a man, at least in Arlo's opinion, and yet it added character. Yeah, character. That was it. He was actually sort of attractive for guy, at least as far as guys went. Arlo shifting to face the man once more, his form relaxing slightly at Malek's approach. The young vampire oblivious to that gentle wash of power over him once more as his newfound companion suggested picking up where they left off. There was a momentary hesitation in the blue-eyed young man and yet he couldn't quite remember what his objection had been the first time. Maybe they should pick up where they left off. What harm could it do? Could Malek really be as good between those sheets as he claimed? One hand lifted just slightly as if to reach for the other vampire and draw him closer. Arlo finding himself rather pleased when he leaned forward, a simper playing on his lips at those whispered words, confusing as they were, his features frowning just slightly before the other vampire pulled abruptly away- taking his power along with him- leaving Arlo blinking momentarily in confusion before rounding on Malek once more. Eyes narrowing as his senses returned to him. The other vampire grinning wildly at him.

"Oh ha ha ha."

His arms folded readily back across his chest. His words entirely sullen. How had he fallen for it again?! Arlo momentarily alarmed at how....potent that power truly was. Perhaps it was not wise to tempt Malek entirely too much lest the man truly follow through with his threat. Underestimating him was the last thing he intended to do. If anything, Arlo was determined to be all the more watchful of him and his tricks. This was exactly why he should have left the ancient one alone. He had, surely, learned his lesson tonight if anything and yet this idea of another way to feed was intriguing in the least. It wouldn't work, Arlo was sure of that and yet if anyone had any ideas about how to help him then surely it would be an ancient one right? Maybe not. Either way, Malek was hardly aggressive and by that notion Arlo was more inclined to spend at least some time with him. It was rare any other vampire would ever allow him near let alone engage him in conversation. He was wary of the other man, he was hardly foolish enough not to be and yet there was something almost pleasant about being in the company of his own kind. He could see why covens formed, he supposed. Even if he would never be part of one. None would ever have him. He told himself he didn't care.

It was at least some sign of him beginning to relax that saw him tease even slightly at the older man about his age, querying him over chess. Arlo forever seeing those old Italian men playing it in the park day after day as if it was the highlight of their evenings. God he hoped he never got that old. Malek's assurance that he preferred to drink saw surprise flutter across his features, Arlo's gaze narrowing slightly once more in a wholly dubious look. He didn't look the type to be...fun and yet maybe he was. The younger vampire assured this claim warranted investigation and yet for now at least he allowed it to pass. The other man bemoaning his lack of older companions and yet Arlo supposed he was hardly surprised. The only truly immortal species were Vampires, Dark Hunters- who were rarely friend material- and Fae. Considering how much most vampires seemed to enjoy Fae blood the lack of well-aged Fae wasn't exactly surprising either.

"Have you met anyone even near your age since being here?"

Why he cared he hardly knew and yet a part of the man was intrigued as to how many centuries old beings existed within the city. His attention refocused upon his companion then, brushing those idle thoughts aside if only to assure him he was hardly going to spend the night chasing down puppies or kittens or any other innocent baby animal. Especially for an experiment he was dubious about to begin with. The idea that Malek preferred bunnies saw one eye arch upward. A rabbit was hardly a large creature. How many rabbits did this guy need to eat to be full?! Was this really how he spent his nights, chasing rabbits? It was the barest shift in the wind as Malek turned up that alleyway to lead the way that carried that all to pleasing scent of him right back to Arlo once more. How good he smelled! The younger vampire falling into step behind him if only to follow that scent, his mouth watering at simply the thought before he attempted to cast it aside and fixate his attention on this new prey. It was hardly a long walk to that small park, his own vampiric senses assuring him that Malek was entirely correct, there were certainly animals here and yet he was hardly practiced enough to know which species. That command to see his 'trick' once more stirred the faintest of simpers to his lips, that affinity responding readily to his will as he simply....waited.

Hunting, at least, for animals had never exactly been a past time he'd engaged within and yet the basics of it didn't seem all that difficult. Arlo simply waiting until something moved. His reflexes were far faster than any mortal- that web shot across the park with a truly terrific speed to ensnare that brown rabbit that had dared to wander just slightly into the open. The young vampire stepped forward then, crossing that space to reach down and pick up the struggling creature, that web falling from it in the same moment as he returned like a loyal retriever to Malek's side. Arlo abruptly holding out the still struggling rabbit to the other man. Well- what else was he supposed to do with it? Was he supposed to kill it? Bite it? The younger man glancing now towards the older one in search of some measure of...guidance, he supposed. This was never going to work, he was sure and yet there was perhaps some tiny measure of....hope within him that maybe it might.

"What do I do with it?"
