Miyako seemed to think long and hard about her question before she said that no, she couldn't use a gun or knife then proceeded to tell her that she'd rather not harm anyone. Now it was Malia's turn to scowl and furrow her brows in confusion.

"But sometimes that's the only way to save someone...or yourself, for that matter. Can you fight in any way? Like, have you ever punched someone?"

She thought it was a good question. She hadn't had the chance yet herself in human form but she had batted her paws at a few coyotes in her day and it always made her feel better. She had a harder strike than most so it usually made them yelp and sent them running. When they got to the clothing store, she could feel the glances Miyako kept shooting her as she looked through the clothing so she tried to turn her shoulder to her so she could look like she was looking. That's what you do in a store right? She wanted to blend in, at least a little. She felt like an idiot enough as it was. She was thankful when Miyako finally picked out some outfits and shoved them toward her, telling her they should fit. Nodding her head, Malia followed her to the changing rooms and went inside, though she didn't even think to lock the door. What was that for anyway? Then she remembered how quickly Henry was always trying to cover her up when she was naked. Humans and their frivolous rules.

She asked about the whole money thing and could feel the silence pressing on her. Thankfully Miyako finally answers and she tilted her head to listen through the changing room wall. She scowled but nodded, even though she knew Miyako couldn't see. Yeah, she knew humans were greedy. She knew that before she even knew she could shift into one. She came out of the changing room so Miyako could see her outfit. She thought it looked okay anyway. She turned for Miyako to look at her good and blinked in puzzlement when Miyako laughed at her comment about fighting someone for the clothes. Finally she gave Malia a simper and told her that she would get them and not to worry about it. She shrugged.

"Okay."

She wasn't going to put up an arguement over getting out of those wet clothes. She watched Miyako gather up her old clothes and put them in a bag, wondering if Henry would even want them back after this. She was agreeable when Miyako mentioned getting a jacket for the cold. As the girl holds out a leather jacket, Malia's eyes lit up. Somehow the material seemed fitting and when she touched it, it reminded her of her own skin as a coyote almost. It was thick and weathered but tough. She nodded and put it on as Miyako suggested. Turning to look at herself in it, she grinned at Miyako.

"I like it."

When Miyako asked about the sandwich, she nodded.

"I'm starving."

She got hungry pretty often and she was used to having to hunt every time but at least here it the food was already dead. So much to get used to still in the human world. When the worker walked over to them, Malia moved herself between the worker and Miyako, already in protective mode. If she had fur it would be bristling but as it were, she simply curled her lip and gave the worker a warning look. This was her friend and she wouldn't hurt her! She listened behind her though as Miyako told the worker that she'd take everything Malia had on, turning her head in surprise. So this person wasn't a threat? It was so hard to tell here! She made herself relax and stepped to the side a little, folding her arms and fixing the worker with a scowl.

"What she said."

She felt like she needed to say something, after all. She noted that Miyako was tense too so maybe that was what made her protective. As the worker walked away, Miyako relaxed and so it was easier for Malia to relax too. At her question, Malia looked down at her outfit again and then smiled.

"I like it. Thank you."

The words felt oddly foreign on her tongue and yet she felt it was right for the situation. After all, Miyako hadn't asked for anything in exchange, at least not yet. She seemed pretty friendly too and she was apparently smart if she could go to school and stuff. Malia would definitely need to bring that up with Frost.
