That faint blush is still decorating her cheeks when the man releases her hand. A bit frazzled she falls into a conversation with him hoping to ease the awkwardness and she's happy to see that she succeeds. Dareios obliges her with small talk until that moment of inelegance is gone. When he continues to deny her the option to pay for the pastries, she frowns a bit at him, that lower lip sticking out, looking very much like she was pouting. "Are you sure? I'd be happy to pay," she trails off a bit, her eyes darting about the café. She could already tell she wouldn't get far with him, Mi was sure, yet she couldn't help but feel a bit guilty at running into him still.

This time when he speaks, she can note his rolling accent which has Miya lifting her brows in surprise. How curious! "Sorry if it's rude, but can I ask where you're from? You have a lovely accent," she compliments him, though it's only a heartbeat later before realizing she felt like she was flirting with him. In a matter of moments, her entire face is flushed again with embarrassment, even her ears are tinging pink. Quickly looking down, she exits the café with him, only nodding at him that she calls him by his first name, thanking him quietly for opening the door. Grasping her messenger bag's strap, she twists it a bit nervously in her hand as they pause just outside the front door. The cool air does wonders for her face, clearing her head so that when she finally looks back at the mayor, her cheeks aren't nearly as pink as they were.

"Much better."

"So, Dareios," she pauses, testing his name out on her tongue before she continues, "How do you stand having cameras following you all the time? I think it would drive me a bit crazy," she offers him a half smile. It was true. The girl enjoyed her quiet life, nothing exciting ever happened, she was as normal as she could be. Having a camera in her face constantly would feel like such an invasion of privacy. Shaking the thought away, her hand finally drops from her messenger bag as a bicyclist draws her attention as he peddles past. Shivering at the thought of riding in this cool weather, she returns her chocolate eyes back to Dareios. His offer has her brows raising in surprise, her lips parting slightly as she watches him, his offer seeming quite genuine.

"Miya," she blurts out, her cheeks turning pink. "You can just call me Miya. Miyako is a mouthful and most people can't pronounce easily," she stumbles over her words as she blabbers on briefly. "Sorry," she apologizes, giving another half simper. "It's a bit of a walk," she says, staring down the dark sidewalk. She knew the last stretch would be entirely dark, the lamp posts hardly every working on her block. She wouldn't mind having company until then, it could be a rather frightening walk alone.

"Do you mind? I stayed a lot later studying than I had originally planned, the last few blocks to my apartment have no lamp posts that work right now. There's been a lot of people going missing too lately," she looks back at Dareios a bit surprised at herself that she would admit to that fear. It's not like she had Arlo's number, she couldn't very well call him to ask him to meet her. Biting her lip nervously, her chocolate eyes travel up to Dareios's face, "Don't feel like you have to though! I can walk by myself...," she trails off, looking at the ground, feeling as if she had begged a stranger to walk her home.
