Arlo James

See what it's like to be a vulture's lunch

Why was she glaring at him like that? Was she offended by hair? Was she afraid of blood? Was it too much to ask whether or not she could make sure he didn't have some giant gash in his head? His fingers felt warm, the man lifting them away from his head to eye that blood as he tilted it slightly towards the girl, asking after that injury only to be met with that snort of sorts. Surprise lingering on his features then. The fact he'd be discovered? Well, he wasn't exactly hiding. Then again she made a good point. There was always some chance of a hunter being around and looking for the chance to take out an easy target. A rather dazed vampire probably just that. Still- that idea he was vain saw his own head tilt slightly, his foggy thoughts still collecting. Was he really? Maybe he was. Then again he was wearing shoes held together with tape and jeans with enough loose threads to supply a small army of knitters. Was that vain? Arlo very near content to shrug at her as his thoughts finally begun to align themselves into something actually useful as they came to a halt. The man nearly walking on his own now. Calliel commenting on that lack of intelligence. One eye lifting slightly then.

"What does being vain have to do with intelligence? I kinda just wanted you to tell me if I needed stiches or something I mean....I dunno how good my healing powers are for like anything more than a couple a cuts. You alright, Chicka? You seem kinda stressed."

Well- maybe she had reason to be. She'd just seen a man get run over in front of her. Arlo's ever present happy-go-lucky attitude veritably shining then. The vampire hardly seeming bothered in the slightest about anything that had happened in that moment. The man instead seizing on that very notion that Calliel didn't actually seem to recognise him. Had she forgotten him? Did she really not remember? How many vampires did she know that he was this forgettable? Then again, he almost prided himself on disappearing near as quickly as he came. The less people who knew him the better and yet he'd only just really decided to stay in this city. At least for as long as he was allowed. He'd finally made a friend. He'd finally.....found a girl- against all the odds. Both of them reasons to stay he was sure. Calliel shrugging her shoulders then as Arlo merely blinked. That woman promptly declaring she wasn't good with names. Well- that was excusable he supposed. Calliel commenting that taking a year to come up with eight dollars was, well, sad. Arlo scowling lightly then, his gaze dropping to that pavement as if he was almost ashamed of it himself, his foot scuffing at the pavement as he wiped that blood away and onto his jeans. He was going to have to wash these now. Great.

"Well, yeah I know, I'm sorry. I....don't have a lot of money. I need what I get to pay rent but I finally managed to save up a bit, I've been paying everyone back."

He was trying, didn't that count for something? The woman let him go entirely then. Arlo content to find his own feet. At least he felt alright if nothing else. Maybe he was way more indestructible then he believed. Calliel's assurance that if he could remember her name then he could remember she didn't need to be paid back seeing the vampire almost taken aback once more. Who didn't want to be paid back? Was she angry at him or something? He didn't remember everything they'd done the last time they'd met and yet he was almost sure they had at least had a decent evening together. Arlo's features frowning slightly before that lopsided grin found him again. His blue eyes meeting her own.

"Well- I came back so really I'm proof of the opposite. I dunno what you're so cross about and I know I don't have to have to pay you back but I wanted too. You were decent to me. I wrote your name down because of that so I'd remember. Here."

He reached easily into his pocket with that clean hand, reaching out to hold that money to her and waiting for her to take it.

"Where you headed tonight? You want company?"
