Little angel go away, come again some other day.
The devil has my ear today.

I had never expected such an evening as I had participated in the night prior. It had been a considerably strange night prior to the arrival of the hunter in my apartment, filled with a "hit" that had taken far more out of me than I had ever intended. Jobs such as the one I had been scheduled for never took that much out of me, what had changed? The utilization of my power of illusion often left me drained in ways that physical exertion never did, but this? I had cursed myself the second I had woken up, feet bound and surprisingly hanging from a ceiling I didn't realize was sturdy enough for such an activity. The creativity behind the binding was pretty impressive, which had honestly lessened the rage that had begun the moment I had opened my eyes. Azrael's attack wasn't something I had expected at all, although in retrospect it would have made sense considering the agitation and blatant distaste he had regarded me with at the Masquerade ball. Had he simply attacked me physically in a battle of testosterone, I wouldn't have initially been so determined to attack him back. But what had he done? His verbal taunts showed a kind of research I really, really didn't appreciate, and I had intended to make him pay.

Unfortunately, I had never been bested in the way that Azrael had chosen to extort me with. He quickly realized that electricity was my biggest weakness, and he exploited it without mercy. Honestly, though? After hours of electrocution and a sizzling smell I was pretty sure was my skin, I had begun to grow what might resemble a little respect for the hunter. He had been creative, thorough, and ... What do you know, the methods of torture resembled something I often produced. It had been strange and a little discombobulating to realize our similarities, but when I had ventured as far as to mention such - ... Well, the end of that story morphed into something I truly hadn't been expecting. Unfortunately, our volatile natures combined in a small city apartment had only ended in the destruction of more than half the place... Including several floors and other apartments. With little disturbance of mind, I knew I would have to write a hefty sum of a cheque in order to pay the damage off, but hell... Would they notice the building shifting into its perfectly pristine original state? The idea had brought a smirk to my exhausted lips, even though I had had to bring my nearly completely wrecked self to a hotel in order to find a place to sleep that might be safer than the ruins of what had been my apartment. Driving to my home outside of the city was completely out of the question.

I wasn't planning on crashing my car and ruining my apartment complex all in one night. I might like destruction, but that was overkill.

I knew the owner of the nearest hotel was a witch, and it struck me that she might at least be a little more understanding of the bedraggled nature in which I arrived. I slunk through the front doors, a simple bag in one hand as I wasn't prepared to put it on either of my shoulders what with the immense... buzzing feeling I still had beneath my skin from the electrocution. With a heavy sigh, I let the bag drop by my feet, unsure of whom I would find at the front desk. I could have disguised my appearance, but the idea of exerting such an effort was incredibly unappealing. Although far earlier than I wanted it to be, I was mildly pleased to see the front desk was attended to by one of the hotel employees, which meant I needed far less manners than I might have had it been the witch I was curious about.

"I'd like the room farthest from the door," I stated flatly, impatient. "This is a fairly undetermined stay and considering the circumstances there should be absolutely no maids or employees to attend the room."
