Ashes to Ashes

The child vampire had remained blissfully still and asleep the entire drive from the airport to the hotel, only to stir once the new voice sounded. Her instincts had her honing in on the drive if only momentarily before she saw her attention pulled to the outside world. Confusion and suspicion laced her tone as she questioned Sebastian as to where they were. She had been promised a gift. Those icy blues turned on Sebastian for his answer, her face void of any tell of emotion.

Sebastian did well in playing to the child's side of Anna who thrived on being doted upon. His lyrics promised comfortable sleep, feeding, and a present. She supposed that was all an acceptable answer. Anna watched Sebastian slid out of the car and present his hand to her to take along with that familiar subtle tug at her being. On some level she knew it was not her own will which caused a reactionary kitten-like growl in her throat but it faded just as quickly before she took Sebastian's hand. There was enough residual of his power perhaps in her system from the plane for her to have willingly followed him or it had simply awakened the maker-childe bond that tethered her to him and guided her to stick close to him. The sun and lack of proper sleep made Anna sluggish which was in the Englishman's favor as he led her through the lobby of the hotel to the check-in desk. Although her predators instincts her her gaze following and sizing up all the patrons that passed them she didn't move a single muscle from his side.

It was with thankful ease that Anna allowed Sebastian to guide her the rest of the way up to their room. Only once they were safely within the confines of the lavish hotel room did she break from his side. There were two beds, each Queen-sized and plush with expensive bedding, thick curtains across the room kept the room dark though even if they were open it would only offer a view of the city as they were thick UV-protection coated specifically to cater to the vampire clientele. There was a child's nightgown lying on one of the beds which Anna investigated before picking up. Anna glanced back to Sebastian, "Sleep then present?" She hardly waited for an answer before she changed into the provided nightgown and climbed into the bed. Apparently in order to have a well-behaved Anna not only did you have to keep her up after daybreak but promise presents.

Anna quickly fell back asleep though she stirred halfway through the day. Her gaze swept the hotel room, taking some time to register where she was again, finding Sebastian in the bed beside hers. Slowly the child crept from her own bed then climbed up onto Sebastian's, wiggling beneath the covers and curling up against his side to finish the day sleeping there. She had become accustomed to sharing with Crishlyn that sleeping alone felt foreign now. Although it was quite different as Crishlyn was soft curves and Sebastian hard planes with no long locks for Anna to curl about her fingers. At least Anna slept and allowed Sebastian to do the same.

The fact that they had been kept up long after daybreak meant Anna didn't stir the moment the sun faded behind the horizon. It took a while past nightfall before Anna's eyes fluttered open and was all at once aware of hunger, the scent of humans that flooded the hotel, and the sounds of them pressing from all sides. Anna slid slowly and quietly from the bed, her stomach clenching in hunger and begging for fresh blood. She felt almost like a caged animal with all her senses being flooded with potential prey and being unable to get to them. It was as she was passing a door which connected their room to the one next door that Anna paused. It was locked as was the door on the other side, offering twice as much protection for the other inhabitants. However, as Anna stood there...there was no mistaking the sounds on the other side...or the scent. Lust. The sounds of moaning and rocking of a bed. The very thing that for one reason or another upset the child vampire...and she could hear and smell the humans. Oh how she wished to destroy them, rip apart their scent of lust with that of pure fear before sinking her teeth into them.

Anna stood still facing that locked connecting door. She could perhaps break through them, wrench at the door knobs until they broke, but that would only give them more warning to her entrance and allow them time to escape. No, she stared at that door, hunger burning in her eyes, her hands at her side as a single finger scraped at the air searching for that line with her ability to snag onto either one of the individuals on the other side. It was harder to do so without having a line of sight as it was like trying to hold water in your hands...not impossible but difficult to do.
