Ashes to Ashes

There was something entirely different in the eyes of the small vampire as she led her childe from the hotel room, making quick work of the security guards, before finding an escape route for them from the building entirely. Fresh blood was coursing through her system, an intoxicating thing which made her not only put her senses on high sensitivity but once the chase was over allowed her to feel the giddiness that the stolen life gave. Anna-Marie released Sebastian's hand willingly once they were truly alone and on the road again but it seemed that her mind wandered from the utter danger they had just been in. It would be hard to convince her of the severity of their actions when they hadn't been caught.

Anna-Marie skipped happily while humming just a few paces in front of Sebastian before her attention wandered back to him with the same question she only too often proposed to him. What next? Her attention was a fickle thing needing an almost constant supply of entertainment lest she find her own. Of course she hardly suspected Sebastian of having anterior motives to this little vacation he had taken them on. There had been no interrogation from him concerning her past and it had been so long since she had been within this country that so much had changed to make it near unrecognizable to her. So she waited patiently, rocking back and forth from heel to toe for her dear Sebastian to fiddle with his phone until he so declared a direction for them.

"Ok." She smiled softly at him and followed his direction without question. The child was content for once, not even glancing towards passerbys as they wandered the streets and her hand finding his once more. On they went with her in silence, further and further from the main city to the outskirts of the residences where the small qauint houses became bigger with more and more land surrounding them. Anna-Marie's ignorance continued right up until they reached the large wrought iron gates mangled yet still holding on to the crumbling once intimidating tall brick walls. The open gates allowed them to step onto that compacted dirt path leading them to the rubble of the large estate.

Anna's hand slowly slipped from Sebastian's as her crystal blue eyes blinked slowly in confused recognition. Something in her told her she should know this place. Her gaze swept the expanse of ruins which were still scorched black from the flames that had consumed it though there were still a few pillars that still fought to stay erect. Her soft footfalls carried her away from Sebastian and into the ruins, her gaze sweeping over it all as something entirely different began to creep into her eyes. "This...mine." Her lyrics were soft, hesitant, as her mind began to attach those pieces of floating memories together. That furrowed brow slowly arched as sheer panic colored her features where once blissful ignorance once lay. The child vampire's wide eyes began to dart around as if seeing something entirely different than what was truly there. "Hunters at the door...fire through the windows...have to get everyone out." She darted from her place through the rubble, weaving and scampering over it until she reached another small area. There she spun around as if surrounded and confused once more. "Everywhere everywhere everyone, can't find the traitor...can't see, too much heat..too much smoke." Anna-Marie suddenly dropped to crouch down in the fetal position, covering her ears and clenching her eyes shut. "Can't save them, can't save them, all gone, so many screams!!" And then her own lungs opened up as she let out a blood curdling scream of her own as she relived that devastating moment in her history watching everything she had built and everyone she had looked after perish.
