The Sun Also Rises

This mention of Ireland is a distinctly new one for the Fae. The term 'culchie' equally as so, a momentary touch of bewilderment adorning his features before he finds himself veritably assaulted with a series of phrases he does not know. 'Kilsallaghan' and 'Industrial Revolution' among them. For all those years he had lived he had spent but the smallest a portion of them within the world itself and as such so many of those historical events were lost upon him, yet, for fearing of appearing entirely foolish in front of his newfound companion Dorian was merely given to that simple nod as if he understood perfectly. A note made mentally to find out just what this industrial revolution had been and where exactly Ireland was. Even Sebastian having never mentioned this country. Though Dorian was inclined to find the accents rather agreeable all the same.

He is cautious, in those moments in which they are so led to their seats, in offering that information of his own choice of partner. His relationship with his vampiric consort having been quite the point of conversation within Italy and indeed even the President had confirmed his displeasure in what he deemed an unethical union though of course the man had hardly dared voice it in so many words. Dorian having learned readily that not all were entirely open to this notion. Dareios, for his part it seemed, had evidently missed this month's issue of Vogue magazine that had so featured himself and Sebastian upon the front cover with a several page story on one of the world's first 'open-minded' Monarch's. The vampire suggesting that he perhaps knew the man Dorian had taken for his own as he flashed that wholly toothy grin. A faint chuckle rising within the man's throat. It was surely unlikely. Sebastian, at least to Dorians knowledge, rarely seeming to keep the company of his own kind and yet he afforded Dareios a response all the same.

"Perhaps you do. Sebastian is his name."

He paused for but a moment, curious to see whether or not this might strike some recognition in the man. Sebastian, after all, was hardly a common name. Dorian moving then to take his seat opposite the Mayor, the pair barely having had a moment to place their napkins on their laps before vampire girl appeared at Dareios side requesting an autograph. That tight, almost forced smile on the part of the vampire was hardly missed, Dorian politely turning his attention to his menu as if to afford the pair that moment as Dareios signed that scrap of paper and the girl hurried off in delight to show her companions. The vampire's apology met with a simple flick of his wrist as if to dismiss those concerns.

"I have found wearing those hooded jackets can be useful in obscuring ones features though they are dreadfully....well, let us say they lack the impact of tailored clothing and if you find yourself photographed in the unattractive hood jacket it becomes a media storm all over again."

Dorians own features frowned slightly, the Fae perhaps far more knowing in this topic then he had intended to appear, the man hurriedly moving to inquire as to whether this suited his companions tastes better than that café at the hotel. A waiter appearing a moment later to take their orders, Dorian selecting his own from that distinctly bloodless side of the menu before passing it to the waiter in turn. The Fae Kings attention returning in full to Dareios now, a curious sought of thought taking hold in his mind and yet it was a rare thing to meet another like himself, one in a position of...influence so to speak and one whom too seemed to, perhaps, struggle with it at times.

"Dareios, forgive my bluntness in this, but did you not find your being a vampire made it all the more difficult to be made Mayor of this city? Are there not those whom oppose you for what you are? Newspapers can be harsh, as can people and yet you, for the most part, seem very- unconcerned."
