What You'll Find Here

Anacosta Heights
Dupont Circle
Hawethorn Village
River Dale

Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

Beylani hasn't always been the best decision maker, this she would readily admit to. There'd been more than a handful of times where she'd found herself in some sort of trouble because of the choices that she made, even before having come to Sacrosanct. Back home though, it seemed like the consequences of her decisions never held quite the same level of repercussions. The results had never been so heavy when she had taken a wrong turn here or there, and the blue-eyed blonde simply couldn't figure out why exactly that was. She wanted to say that it was because in Willowhaven, there were very few people that went unnoticed by the locals and it was this closeness in the community where everyone knew almost everyone else that seemed to ensure the safety of the children that grew up there. In her hometown, if there was a shady looking individual that no one knew and he had been standing in the shadows at night, he would have been approached by not just one person but several with questions as to what it was that he or she were up to. The residents of Willowhaven were not necessarily suspicious of outsiders or those simply passing through, but rather it was the friendliness that more often than not was able to deter those looking for trouble or some kind. In the big city, there was no such feeling that the young woman could find to resemble that sense of togetherness. In a place where there were tens of thousands of people, so many new facing flooding the streets and those with experience enough to know who was sound and who was not seeming to only look out for those that they cared for instead of their neighbors a few doors down, that it seemed like it was really a "survival of the fittest" sort of message she was able to observe from simply watching - and now also having experienced herself. In the concrete jungle, it was hard for her to think that the man in the shadows had gone unnoticed by others. How could he have when so many people wandered the streets? Had he been waited specifically for her all that time? And if so, how was it that no one else saw danger in hiked and took it upon themselves to call law enforcement to ensure he didn't snatch up some helpless child wandering those same dark streets in spirit of the holiday as they went door to door trick or treating? Did the people of Sacrosanct truly wield such little caring for their fellow city goers?

Uncertainty crept along the darker places of her thoughts as images from the night before flash across her mind as it takes her back to that place when those questions bubble to the forefront of her thoughts. Just what were the odds that she had been the first one who had walked past that alleyway when he had been there? Better yet, what were the odds that she had been the first to walk by that alleyway alone when he had been there among the dark and eerie shadows of Sacrosanct? It was Halloween for goodness sake, people and children either in larve groups or alone had filled those city streets in the north, it hadn't been like a ghost town or anything that night. Surely there had been a handful of intoxicated people meandering around at night completely unaware to their surroundings that the vampire could have decided would be a much easier target. It was not that the young woman would have ever wished for such a fate on anyone - even her worst enemy, which can she truthfully didn't have though she did have a few bullies from her school years which she hardly counted as "enemies" - but if there was one thing that bothered her the most about what had happened last night, it was that of all the people who had been out that night truly wandering the dark streets of the big city, why had it been her that he had chosen? While there was much about the attack that she could not really remember, there were also things that she knew she would ever be able to forget... Like that eerie chill that had overwhelmed her when she'd been near him. It had been the same sensation she'd felt when she had foolishly taken it upon herself to search for Andras in the dead of night when the streets of the eastern city had truly been silent and still. Not even the autumn leaves seemed to rustle because there hadn't even been the gentlest of winds whispering through the night. Looking back, she couldn't help but wonder if that very same dark man had been there in the alleyway, watching her and waiting to seize an opportunity that would never come that night. Had Andras' presence sent the creature back into the shadows then? And if that really had been the same vampire lurking in the dark then as well as last night, why had he chosen to hunt her? Was there something that she had done (other than being foolish enough to walk alone on the dark down those quiet streets of the city) to earn the interest of such a creature? The fact that she could not find the answers and yet could not help but feel as though she had been hunted like some animal was what unnerved her the most, especially when she dared to wonder just how long he had been watching her...

Pushing away those thoughts as Ida helped her into the bathroom, out of that costume, and into that amazingly warm water, she decided that she really didn't want to revisit that dark place... even if she would always remember that night no matter how much she might not want to. Instead she thinks of those words that Ida had offered her in regards to the dark fae man she owed her very existence to now, and it is hard for the blue-eyed blonde not to find that small smile upon her lips growing. She knew when she'd found him that night in the clearing that there was a kind heart beating in that chest of handsomely sculpted muscle, and now she had the fae woman's words to only reinforce that belief that beneath those glittering hazel eyes yes and that wicked grin that came so naturally to Andras, there was something more. For now though, her thoughts turn to the old fae woman that tends to her. The aura that surrounded the fae woman truly was one of warmth and nurturing and though it brought to life the sorrow of remembering that her own grandmother had long since passed into the next life years ago, there was a great comfort and ease that washes over Beylani just as the waters of the bath pool did. Perhaps in any other situation she might not have been as keen on allowing someone she barely knew to undress and bathe her, but with Ida it was almost as though she couldn't help feeling like she'd known the older woman for more than mere moments. There wasn't the smallest traces of tension as those things fabrics slid from her slender frame or as those gentle yet precise fingers worked through her blonde locks, every fiber of the young woman completely at ease. The older woman hums as she works the shampoo deeper into Beylani's hair and the young woman is almost able to close those baby blues behind thick lashes to simply revel in the calm and contentment that surrounds her now, chasing away the guilt if only for a short while.

She can feel Ida pause for a moment as the older fae woman hears the curious question the blue-eyed blonde ushers curiously, her soft and sterling voice echos against the tile walls of the bathroom. The woman moved to retrieve a cloth and before she speaks again, she dips it in the bath water and begins to gently clean the wounds on her neck, a slight stinging sensation pricking at the tender skin as Ida worked. A short lived note of laughter falls from the fae woman's lips as she begins to speak, pausing only to dip the small washclothe in the water again, crimson swirling in the bath water for a moment before dissipating altogether. Beylani listens closely, surprised by the explanation that Ida gives her with words full of a quiet fondness for the dark fae man that touches Beylani's own. She remembers Andras having only just brushed against the idea that he were a king back at her apartment, but she hadn't been able to question him further when Chika had decided to act in a way the young woman never in a million years would have considered possible from the tortoiseshell feline. Before Beylani can also her more, Ida speaks again and then there is an unusual sensation that causes her skin to tingle as though she had that "pins and needles" feeling in her neck around those puncture wounds. There was an odd tugging and just as Ida had warned, a subtle itch that nearly had her reaching up to graze fingernails out of reflex reaction but she refrains, the fae woman exclaiming and encouraging that smile dancing across blush-colored lips to grow as she turns to see the fae woman winking playfully at Beylani before striding across the bathroom and sifting through a closet she had noticed. It is then that for the first time, baby you blues find a window on her right and a twinkle of awe and excitement illuminates those bright depths. Snow! She watched the morning light touch gently down upon the white landscape, causing it to sparkle and shimmer like millions of diamonds strewn across the earth. How beautiful it all was, the mountains that were not nearly as distant as those jagged peaks managing the rise just barely above the tall, steel skyscrapers of Sacrosanct. She could see the evergreens here dressed in glittering snow and the child in the young woman screams for a chance to slip outside and play in the white powder she hadn't seen since last winter in Willowhaven. She wants to ask where it was that they were, but again before those sterling words can slip over her tongue the older fae woman with those warm eyes and silver locks tired into that ponytail is encouraging her out of the pool bath and only now does the young woman realize just how starved she was feeling. Besides, if Andras didn't send her back home as soon as he awoke, she would see about taking another bath simply because she didn't have such an opportunity back at her small apartment; the unfortunate downside of having nothing but a shower stall back in Sacrosanct which she suspected they were far away from now.

As Ida reaches down to help the young woman out of the bath pool, no sooner than those words are ushered forth does Beylani realize that she was right and the room begins to spin only a little and she stands there for a moment to wait for the sudden motion to still before climbing slowly out of the pool bath and is wrapped up quickly in that plush white robe she almost wants to just snuggle into. She does not protest in the least as Ida links arms with her and as they walk out of the bathroom and towards a chair in the room, the young woman is happy to notice that most of the stiffness in her body was gone with the therapy of that warm water though she can still feel a tightness in her slender frame. Sitting, Ida begins to towel dry those soaked blonde locks and it is not expected when the fae woman begins to braid that hair she would have been content to let remain cascading down past her shoulder blades, hardly concerned with how she looked post-attack and only just snatched from Death's icy claws. The fae woman leaves the room again, and once more those baby blues wander to the outside world as they peer out the large floor-to-ceiling windows and out towards the winter wonderland she yearned to explore. One would think she's had enough of exploring for a while, but such was so deeply engraved into the blue-eyed blonde that she never seemed to get enough of seeing all she could. She nearly startles when Ida appears suddenly with a cream colored sweater and loose black leggings and she wonders only briefly if those clothes were the woman's own or who they might have belonged to but she has no time to ask as she is being ushered out of that chair again and in surprising grace and quickness as though she's done this countless times, the young woman is out of that robe and warmly dressed. For being older, she sure is spry, Beylani thinks warmly to herself as she regards the kind fae woman and before she can manage even a fleeting fancy thank you, Ida is speaking once again in that motherly voice and linking arms with Beylani and they are off again only this time they exist Andras' room and carefully descend down several flights of oak stairs to where she imagined the kitchen would be.

When they reach their destination, baby blue eyes widen in awe as they drink in the new surroundings. Well, knew to her conscious being anyway. The large fireplace at the center of the vast living room is burning warmly, the furnishings modern and sophisticated. What else should she expect though when Andras was a king just as Dorian was? She is seated at the end of the long mahogany table and as Ida simply waves her hands over the table, a garden on omelette appears and leaves the young woman again awestruck. It was amazing to think that only just a week ago, she'd thought there was no such thing as magic, and now it surrounded her in almost every direction. Ida speaks yet again, and as though she can already see the curiosity flickering in those baby blue eyes she is quick to lift her hand for silence which Beylani is quick to obey, always having been taught as a child to listen and respect the elders of her community. She smiles sweetly to the older fae woman and when she is finished speaking and moves to depart from the kitchen table tend to whatever other business she had (perhaps even going to seek out Andras to ensure that he was alright), Beylani turns to watch the woman leave."Thank you, Ida. For everything", she calls after the fae woman who simply turns and smiles warmly before disappearing up the stairs. Turning back in her chair with baby blues falling to the food on the ceramic plate, she finally feels that growl in her stomach and eagerly begins to scarf down the meal in front of her, savoring the rich flavors that make her wish she could cook a meal like that at home. There isn't so much as a scrap left on her plate when she has finished and as soon as she pushed back in her chair and away from the table, the utensils vanish like morning dew beneath the warm caress of dawn's first light. This place is incredible, she thinks to herself and as she moves out of the kitchen and back up those stairs, she can feel herself wanting to see what else might be here. Ida said to go back to the bedroom. So that's what I'll do. There's time for that later, she scolds herself silently when she reaches the top of the final flight of wooden steps and moves back into the room. His room... She takes a moment, standing there and admiring the vaulted ceiling and stone fireplace where the flames still burn just as brightly as they had when she's awoken. It had his name written all over it, unable to imagine him calling any other place his true home. She moves over to the bed and climbs back into those plush and warm covers, nuzzling into those plush pillows that held not the smallest traces of blood or that unwelcomed smell from he assailant, and she feels herself drift off, her last fleeting thought trying to imagine what the dark fae man might look like when he slept...

She was unsure of just how long she'd been asleep, but when thick lashes fluttering over baby blue eyes and she awakens the find the sunlight leaking through open windows still she doesn't imagine she'd been asleep for too long. She lays there in the covers, closing her eyes again as she tries to coax herself back into a peaceful sleep but there is a restlessness that finds her now, surely fueled by that eager curiosity echoing in the recesses of her mind. Finally accepting that there was no falling asleep now, she stretches lightly on that large bed, being careful not to strain those still sore muscles that would probably not be fully recovered for the next few days or so, then removes herself from the comfortable embrace. Thick socks allow her to move almost silently across the hardwood flooring and out of the bedroom where she begins to descend down those stairs once more, running her hand gently over the wooden handrailing to not only support herself if she stepped wrong but also to simply feel it. As she walks down a couple flights, she comes to a hallway that she'd only briefly noticed when Ida had led her to the kitchen. There are windows that allow for the daylight to pour in generously and as she walks through it, she allows for her gaze to admire the beauty of the snow-covered forest. If she could live here for the rest of her days instead of returning to that big city, there was little doubt in her mind that she would. She only looks away from the wintery world outside when she comes across a door and peeks curiously into each room, noticing how each one was decorated a little differently from the one before it. This hallway just seems to go on forever... And of course she just had to know where it would end. So she continues to walk, continues to peer into each cracked door, until she comes to one that is entirely closed. She hesitates now, casting her gaze down on the floor only to see the faintest flickering of a light somewhere within. She nearly moves on, almost decided that it was probably closed for a reason, but then she wonders.... Carefully and almost timidly, she reaches for the handle and gently twists it until it cracks open and as she looks inside she sees him laying there in the bed across the room. Andras... He must truly have been drained beyond anything she could have ever imagined for he does not stir as she opens the door just a little further. She watches him for a moment, can't help but study the slow rise and fall of his back touched gently by the light of the fire that burns brightly in the fireplace on the opposite side of the room. The bed was smaller than his own, those bat-like appendages folded neatly on either side of him as he slept. Unable to explain the pull she feels, she opens the door until she is able to slide into the bedroom. I shouldn't be doing this.... She wanted to simply leave the room and let him rest, but her curiosity held her in place joined by something else she didn't quite understand. Silently she moves to the side of the bed and she can hear him breathing peacefully, restfully... Unbidden, those baby blues travel along the rippling muscles of his back and her heart quickens again. Her gaze travels along his shoulders and to those wings and she remembers wondering just what they might feel like... She reaches out a hand now and slender fingers brush ever so gently against the tip, feeling what she imagined was bone. Fascinated, she traces lightly along the length of that wing tip, her touch as fleeting and gentle as a butterfly landing upon the crimson petals of a rose.... She wonders why those wings of his were so unlike anything she might have imagined for a faeirie, wonders what he might be dreaming of.... wonders what his body might feel like pressed against her own....
