Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

His brows furrowed in concern as the woman ducked behind Andras the moment he let his gaze sweep to her. She seemed awfully shy but he'd known many fae who chose to live their lives fairly isolated from others. Perhaps she was just nervous to meet new people. He gave her his warmest smile, his eyes lighting up friendly and open, hoping to entice her out of hiding so he could get to know her a little better. He knew time would be the best anecdote and perhaps she would warm up to him soon enough but he would be patient until then. As he held out his hand, she looked him up and down and he knew immediately that he was trying too hard. He slowly let his hand rest down at his side again as she started spouting off something about what his name means. He nodded. "I guess you could say I'm a soldier in my own way. Pleasure's all mine, Navi." He watched her curiously as she then looked at Dorian, seeming to take him in as well before she said that his name originated from Greek but she wondered what it meant for him. He smirked, turning his teasing gaze to the other fae. "I would be interested to know as well. Surely you've thought about it. Any ideas?"

He waited patiently for the response before following Andras into the garage. There, Navi seemed more comfortable, moving around as she fiddled with some bolts and a wheel. Troy tilted his head, watching her with curiosity as she seemed so attentive to whatever it was she was trying to make. But her own head lifted as Andras mentioned the portal and she moved closer to the group, asking why the idea of travelling between worlds sounded familiar. Troy scowled thoughtfully, wondering if she'd already done it before and just didn't remember. As the dark circle appeared in the middle of the garage, she walked up to it without fear, circling it and studying it. Troy watched with fascination. Her question made his brow rise in puzzlement, his own gaze following hers to Andras to hear the answer. Of course his thoughts were still reeling back to the time he arrived and met Dorian outside. The way he had looked at his car was beyond amusing, as if he'd never seen something the likes of it before, though Troy wouldn't be surprised if that were indeed the truth. Dorian had looked wary as Troy stepped out of the car, nodding to him in greeting as he asked if the Fae king was ready.

In response, Dorian was quick, saying he figured it would be more of a lunch chat and house tour, but Troy had other ideas. "Perhaps." Was his only response though, since he didn't want to burst Dorian's bubble. He was still highly curious of Andras' and his comment about shielding the court. He knew the invitation into the monarchy wasn't to be taken lightly and Andras was going to trust him with more answers now, answers he hoped to soon get. Andras now knew that he had a lot riding on this group with Amelia so close to giving birth. The less he was in the dark, the better. When Troy asked about Sebastian's opinion, Dorian looked to him as he said that his fiance's thoughts changed with the days. Dorian's words got joking near the end, saying that they both needed their own hobbies with their own species sometimes and that they did separate from each other at times. Troy smirked and shook his head slowly as if in disbelief. "You're right....it's hard to believe. I figured you two would be welded at the hip, especially with all the press surrounding your engagement." His eyes gleamed playfully.

As they reached the door, Troy noted the polite way in which Dorian waited, with his hands folded behind his back. It must be like second nature to him after being swept up in that royal world for so long. Troy himself tended to be isolated from all the politics of his kind. He liked to get his hands dirty too much to mess with lies and deception through fake smiling teeth. He stuck to the task of fighting the darkness rather than basking in the light. Him and Dorian may be the same species but they were certainly from different worlds on the same big planet that they've shared for centuries. Troy seemed to have more human habits than fae, since he'd spent the majority of his time in their world, blending in. Dorian looked surprised at first upon seeing Navi before he nodded his head in greeting and told her he wasn't sure the meaning but his idea was that his father gave it to him to mean "gift." It made sense. Fae children were so rare and hard to come by, so maybe his parents took him as a miracle of sorts. Of course, it could also come from a twinge of arrogance on Dorian's part, but Troy wasn't about to be a hypocrite and call him on it.

As they stepped into the garage, he could tell that Dorian was faking his interest a little. It was just a way he had of reading other's features when they weren't actively looking at him. Of course, there was nothing to be looking at other than trinkets and tools for the most part so he didn't blame his confusion. But as Andras brought up portals, it was easier to read his wariness as he asked if Andras could teleport. As the black hole opened up, Dorian stepped back quickly, the look of fear on his face actually surprising Troy a little. Dorian was always so confident, even when he wasn't. He was good at playing the part. That's what being in politics afforded him, a good game face. And yet here he was definitely scared, staring at the portal like it might pull him right in against his will. He asked what it was and Troy lifted his gaze to Andras to further explain, sure that he could do a much better job. After a few moments, Dorian seemed to straighten himself as if getting ready to give a speech and Troy could feel the pull of authority in it as he said that he refused to take part in this. His brows furrowed, wondering how Andras would take it. His gaze wandered back to the other fae, wondering how convincing he could be.

Andras, for his credit, was extremely patient with them, waiting for them to finish speaking before he took a moment to talk himself. He guaranteed their safety and said there was no limit to how many he could take. Troy raised a brow, clearly impressed. "That's a big thing to promise. I hope you've done your homework on it." He wasn't trying to insult him or call him a liar. He just wanted to make sure Andras wasn't saying it to make them feel better. As if knowing where he was coming from, he noted the way Andras' face softened before admitting that Amelia should do it as little as possible because of the side effects. He nodded. "Duly noted. She'll probably be less of a fan of it, anyway." He watched as Andras turned his attention from Navi to Dorian, concern seeming to find him as he studied the fae king. It was obvious that Dorian was wary of the idea and what he was getting himself into but Andras was very patient upon explaining how it was different from teleportation. He listened as he explained it being another world, like going through a wall. He stayed silent, curious of Dorian's reply.

As the hole appeared, it was clear Andras was having a hard time figuring out how to explain how safe it was to them. He held out his hands to Dorian, who seemed the most fearful, his words careful and calm to help soothe his fears. The question from Navi seemed to grip his attention momentarily as he stepped in between them and the portal as if to show Dorian that it wouldn't just suck him in. He turned his head to Navi, telling her that they weren't going through someone's dreams, but to another world. When Andras turned back, it was to give Troy his attention, telling him that he always anchored the portal to an inanimate object. He admitted that it was tiring, assuring him that he would never take them somewhere he wasn't sure of. Troy nodded, his eyes softening. "Good to know. I haven't done much research on the ability myself but I've talked to others who have known of it." Troy was glad he wasn't trying to silver line it for them. He wanted them to know it could be terrifying but that he would take all precautions to make sure they were safe. Troy took another glance at Dorian before his eyes met Andras. He felt that Andras was really stepping out on a ledge here, offering them his trust by showing them this, willing to share it with them. What kind of follower would he be to step away from his monarch's side, now, when he needed the support most?

"Good enough for me." He said with a nod and a smile, wanting Andras to know that he would give out his own trust in turn. Andras looked downright scared that he would never be able to convince Dorian to go through the portal. It seemed important to him that they understand how safe it is. He watched with interest as Andras stepped closer to Dorian, assuring him once more of the safety and asking him to trust him. Troy tilted his head. "The fae king walking away from a challenge because of a little risk and mystery? I never thought I'd see the day." His lips quirked in the corners, just a shadow of amusement as he waited to see if Dorian would take the bait.
