Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

Maybe he should have known all along that Becca wasn't the girl for him. He told himself it was just hte adventure of it that drew him in. She was new and unpredictable, a challenge. She thought for herself (and for him most of the time) and nothing was impossible in her world. She craved freedom just like he did, but hers was more of a freedom only she could control. It wasn't long into their relationship that she started slowly slipping in more rules, becoming more insecure, making herself the victim every time they got in a fight. But he was blinded by his affection by then. He fed right into it. He apologized over and over again and promised to do better, even when he didn't know exactly what he did wrong. Anything just to appease her. Over time, she controlled him. He could see that now, plain as day. But by then, it was the norm. She had already sunk her talons into him. It was ironic to him now just as much she was like the very person he despised, his own father. Nothing he did could please her. He was a failure, a disappointment. It was like he put his need for approval that he used to seek from his dad onto her and it was always the same result.

He had drowned his sorrows in alcohol on more than one occasion after he walked away but after a couple times, it was no longer about her. It was about him and one more notch of failure on his belt. Seems he couldn't do anything right, not even keep a girl happy. Perhaps if he'd had his own verson of Townsend, he could have healed better, gotten more confidence in himself after everything. But Taylor had always been a lone wolf in a way. He never trusted enough to confide in someone completely. Him and Kari never saw eye to eye. She was an overachiever and he was the one who gave up too early, too soon. She tried to to support him at first, to encourage him to forget what their dad said and follow his dreams but after a while, Taylor felt like she gave up on him too. Just another damn disappointment was probably all he became to her in the end. Maybe they had too many years between them. She always called him childish and immature. With Adelaide, he didn't feel like a disappointment. He felt stronger, smarter, better. She encouraged him like no one else. She had such faith in him to do great things. And he wanted to do all of it just to prove her right. She made him feel near invincible.

He felt the connection as strong as the brightness of the stars overhead. He didn't want to just be her friend. He wanted to be the man who deserved to stand at her side. She was so strong all the time but he had a feeling behind that, she was a woman like any other and wanted to let someone in, needed it. Townsend was her safe haven, but she ached for something more. A companionship like nothing else. He didn't even know he was looking for anyone again but when she was with him, he couldn't think of nothing else. When he was without her, he ached for her presence, just to hear her voice or smell her fancy perfume. They didn't know each other very long at all but he felt that he would do anything for her. He would hold her up when she needed it. He would defend her fiercely. He would be whatever she wanted him to be. If there was such a thing as soul mates, he was sure that was what this was. He couldn't think of anyone else fitting him so well as she did. He told her that she deserved nothing less than honesty and she said those three words that took his breath away. He felt that it wasn't something she would ever say lightly, not to anyone. And yet there was no hesitation in her voice when she told him that she trusted him. God, how he wanted to be worthy of it. He would be. He had to be.

When they kissed, there was nothing else for him, nothing but her and her lips. Her body warmth up against him, her breaths tasted in his mouth, her heart racing against his own. She pulled him back for more after the initial kiss and it was enough to let him know that she felt it too, that his feelings weren't one sided. He couldn't imagine being any more excited about something than in this moment. He was like a kid again telling his crush that he liked them and his heart racing like nothing else when she circled Yes on that note asking if she liked him too. When they finally drew away, he knew that it meant something and he would cherish that memory cause who knows when they might have that again? Townsend certainly wouldn't approve and he had a lot of work to do to earn his trust. And he wanted to do just that. He would be the man she deserved. He would earn his place at her side. So for tonight, those few brief kisses would have to be enough. As they pulled back, she looked into his eyes, searching his face even as he smiled, searching her own but not for answers this time, only for clarity. Then she pressed her head against his chest as if listening to his heart and he gently traced his fingers through her hair in a soothing gesture, this time not hesitating to bend his head down and kiss the top of her head.

He focused on her voice as she spoke, telling him he'd already done so much and that she'd never felt this way before. He felt himself smiling into her hair. "I've never felt this way either. It terrifies me. But I'll do anything to keep it." He whispered back. He felt her hands slowly move from his chest to his sides and then around him, pulling him close for a hug so he sighed gently in contentment and let his own arms wrap around her in a protective embrace, holding her as long as she wanted. Then he found her head tilting back so he could look into those beautiful sage eyes again. She told him that he made it easy to have faith and that he was the first and would probably be the last. His eyes twinkled down at her. She went on to tell him that he was worthy but that she would wait until he felt that he was. He nodded. "Thank you. I'm sure I'll find a creative way to let you know when I feel I've earned that right." He leaned down, gently kissing her forehead before he looked back up at the stars and the city spread out before them. Then he looked back at her. "Until then...do you have a certain curfew, Miss LaBelle? I would hate to get you grounded from watching me work in the yard tomorrow." He glanced down at his watch. "Today, I mean. Seems it's already tomorrow." His lips quirked.
