Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

He was curious as to how Andras and Navi met each other but knew it was none of his business to ask. She just seemed so different from other fae he'd met, like she had lived in the wilderness on her own for a long time before she joined the court. She seemed distrustful of others. He knew the mean act wasn't her true face. It was more like a defense mechanism, like she was using it to keep others at arms length so she didn't end up hurt. He'd seen that act used many times before, mostly by his brother Sam. Sam had his heart broken when he fell in love and then his fiance was taken from him by death's cold hand. She wasn't supposed to die but in their line of work, everyone was in danger and everyone was a weakness. It so happened that a vampire found out about her and used her against his brother, making him watch as he killed her. Sam was never the same after. He didn't have the same fire and he started being rude and abrupt to others, not caring about their feelings. Troy tried to understand and he knew the symptoms.

He couldn't hear Andras and her talk when they stepped to the side but by the way she dipped her head, it seemed like he'd gotten through to her. When Dorian asked for a moment to go draw a coat in the snow, Troy noted the momentary look of irritation on Navi's features but he shrugged it off. She was probably impatient to get to where they were going and no one knew why he had decided to stop and draw on the sidewalk until he pulled the coat from the drawing and laid it across his own shoulders. Troy felt the corner of his lips quirk when Navi asked Dorian if it was a jacket as she watched. When they started walking again, he slowed down to offer an ear for Navi if she ever needed it. If they were going to be court members, he figured they might as well get to know each other a little better and start building some trust. He offered and she nodded without saying anything. He figured that was as good as it was going to get so he smiled and then focused on the others. They found themselves at the fairy city and when Andras reached out to ruffle Navi's hair, she quickly stepped aside and covered her head, as if stunned by the gesture. She looked at him as if unsure when he smiled at her before redirecting her gaze back to the city. Again, Troy had to wonder how much interaction with others she was used to, if any.

He watched as she lowered herself to dangle her legs over the edge and his brow rose, ready if she started to slip but thankfully it wasn't long before Andras offered to take them to the lodge and she stood up and crept away from the ledge. Troy felt that he could breathe a little easier. Even if it wasn't a big drop, he felt better knowing no one might get injured today. Dorian seemed to be calming down, answering Navi in confirmation that it was in fact a jacket as he draped it over his shoulders. At Troy's comment, he merely grinned before he turned to Andras and agreed that it was practical, but that he might not be artistic enough. Troy chuckled under his breath at the sarcasm, before turning his attention to the fairy city like the others. Dorian had a lot of questions and it confused Troy. If he was royalty, wouldn't he have been born into a world like this? Dorian met his gaze and for a moment he seemed thoughtful, as if weighing his options before he finally sighed and spoke. Troy gave him his full attention as he said that he was only half far. Troy's brow rose at the mention. He would have never guessed. He could see why Dorian would choose to keep that secret. He listened patiently as Dorian told him about his father Matteo and how that was the only fae he knew when he was younger. Troy couldn't help but think how lonely it must have been not to have other fae to socialize with, only humans.

He nodded when Dorian was done. "Your secret is safe with me, Dorian. You're probably a better king than they could ever ask for, anyway." He smirked, hoping Dorian knew that he was genuinely trying to give him a compliment. He may not know much of he ruled since he'd never been under his rule but from the fae he knew he as, he had to think he was a good king as well. He could tell the story wasn't one he told many and he felt honored that Dorian had decided to trust them with the story. He was a little curious if anyone had ever noticed how long their dear king had lived and how he never seemed to age though. Then Dorian listened to Andras as he answered his questions. There was a look like he might have other questions but for now, it seemed that he would keep them silenced. Then Andras asked that Sebastian and Amelia take oaths before knowing about the portal and the fae city and Troy gave his answer before Dorian said that he wasn't sure if he wanted to tell Sebastian about it at all. He knew that Sebastian would have many questions. He did seem pleased about the fae living there safely though and Troy nodded in agreement. When Andras brought up the lodge, Dorian nodded in agreement.

Andras listened carefully to Dorian's story, though he didn't seem as surprised in Troy's opinon. Maybe he knew beforehand? It made sense. Dorian was the one that told Troy about Andras to begin with so he probably knew him for a while and trusted him enough to know. When Troy told Andras about Amelia not being ready yet, Andras nodded in agreement, saying just to give him a warning of a few days so he can get a room ready cause it's not child safe yet. Troy smiled, his eyes lighting up at the very thought of their bundle of joy before he nodded. "Will do." He listened then as Andras talked about how grateful he was to be able to provide the fae with a safe place to go. He agreed with Dorian that it would be hard to explain this fae city to Sebastian, offering to show it to him through his mind if allowed. Troy lifted a brow in surprise, wondering if that was another power of Andras'. Andras then offered to take them into the city sometime and give them a better tour before heading toward the lodge. It was a beautiful building with trees all around it. The red door stood out in all the white. He kicked the snow and dirt off his own shoes as he followed Andras and the others in, pausing once inside and out of the way to look around.

"I love the windows. Makes the place feel more open and inviting." He offered. The fireplace suddenly roared up and Troy jumped a little but smiled when he saw the fire burning. He still had a little self defense jumpiness at things moving unexpectedly since he'd spent his life hunting things that would hurt him or worse if they managed to surprise him. Andras offered for them to sit and Troy nodded before taking a seat on one of the couches, looking up as a lady walked into the room. She had gray hair so Troy knew she had to be very old. He smiled at her politely. Andras introduced her as Ida and Troy held out his hand to take hers and brush his lips across the back of it in a polite greeting from the old days, looking up to meet her gaze respectfully as he smiled. "A pleasure to meet you, Ida." Andras started asking if they had questions before asking Ida to get them drinks. Troy leaned back in the chair to get comfortable as he turned his gaze and attention to Andras. He waited for Andras to speak before he cleared his throat. "I feel as we're all new to this meeting as a court thing, there will be questions all around. We all seem to come from very different backgrounds and it makes the dynamics more rocky than if we already knew and trusted each other. So I think, if you allow it, Andras, of course, that we should all share a little bit about each other, to get the ball rolling. I'll even start."

He waited to make sure it was okay with Andras before he spoke. "I'm Troy. I had fae parents and one brother, Sam. I grew up in a fae community but my father was a Hunter, a fae who worked for the Dark Hunter Council. He only did it for spare money from the Council before my mother's passing but when a vampire drained her right in front of him, he threw himself into hunting, growing obscessed with it. He trained me and my brother as soon as we could hold weapons and we took up what we called the family business. My father abandoned us at some point, just up and vanished before we woke up without a trace and never tried to contact us again. We didn't know if he was alive or dead. Still don't." He shrugged a little. The pain was old but still a little raw. "My brother and I continued to hunt but after a few centuries together, he grew tired of the hunting. I could tell, even though he told me he was fine. Then one night he said he was going out to run errands and he never came back. His phone went straight to voicemail. I'm sure he chucked it and got a new one to go with his new life. I haven't seen him in 300 years." He sighed. That pain was more fresh and still very painful. His brother meant a lot to him. They were all they had for about 400 years. Finally he looked back up at everyone.

"I started hunting on my own after that. I got more paranoid, less trustful of others. I haven't been in a court since my father abandoned us. There was that short stint with Sam..." He got quiet, his gaze meeting Dorian's for a minute because only he would understand the hurt there before he swallowed and kept talking. "Of course that didn't last long so here I am. Dorian told me about Andras and that he could trust him so Andras found me and we talked. I decided I liked the guy and that maybe it wouldn't be so bad to be in a court. I couldn't go by my last experience since I was barely a member for a week." He smirked but the look was bitter, old memories threatening to come back up and make his chest tighten. He would never forget Sam, no matter how much he loved Amelia now. He finally sighed and brushed away the memories, looking at the others. "So there I am in a nutshell. Anyone else want to share?"
