Hawethorn Village

Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

living like we're renegades

long live the pioneers
rebels and mutineers

It should have been a new place and a new beginning, but the sins of the past had a way of haunting the young Were and despite having traveled hundreds of miles over the last few weeks she still couldn't shake the feeling of being followed. It was part of River Dale's appeal that they dealt only in cash payments with little to no questions asked, it was easier to hide this way and avoid any unwanted attention as her thoughts ran to where that money would continue to come from. All these things and more had her mind so wrapped around itself that she didn't notice the accidental intruder until his voice was reverberating around the high ceilings and brick walls of her apartment. For a moment the fear that flashed across her face had nothing to do with him and everything to do with the vulnerability that his sudden appearance indicated, until at least fruit came raining down on her bare concrete floors.

The whole situation was ridiculous enough to let her look past the wound be dangers of the situation and reach for sarcastic humor that had the boy pulling a half self-deprecating grin as well. She listed to his swift reply, his penchant for over explaining and running off at the mouth quickly becoming apparent but it did serve to lighten the situation and eventually help slow her racing heart. Despite being a predator in her own right recent life experiences had her flight response triggering more often than not, and only time would tell if the change was parament for the she-leopard. Still the reassurance of him being only one of perhaps 2% of the population that could pull off such a feat was of less comfort. "I'll have to write that down," she mused incredulously, one dark eyebrow raising slightly before the rolling apple bumped against her worn out sneaker and had her bending over to retrieve it.

Rolling in in her hands as a manner of distraction from the stranger who was still in her apartment she couldn't help but ask if this was going to be a recurring event if only to start looking for different apartments already. True to his form so far he was all too willing to provide her with a full response, something that was both jarring to the girl who was more used to hearing words with double meanings and hidden intentions, but It was also a rather welcome change. "It's no problem, I guess," she responded incredulously, "the dangers of living in this city I suppose, and not the worst of them at that." True there were many worse things that could be lurking in Sacrosanct and without than a half awkward slightly self-deprecating vampire who at least seemed to have no ill will at heart.

She watched as his gaze drifted to the bare apartment, old moving boxes stacked haphazardly here and there, though not too many to speak of honestly. As she felt a warm pressure against her leg she jumped slightly once more, looking down to see the gray tabby who managed to follow her everywhere brushing up against her tattered jeans. He flashed his green eyes at her before leaping up onto the island counter top and staring at the vampire with interest. Grayson had always been different, ever since he had adopted her when she first moved into the apartments here, an odd thing considering most natural animals had an aversion to were-creatures. Instincts and all telling them something was different, but the cat had persisted and had an uncanny ability to read others even those more otherworldly creatures.

Absentmindedly her hand raised to stroke his back as Arlo's attention jumped back to her with the rather obvious question regarding whether she had just moved in. She thought of attempting to break into his comment stream with a response once or twice, but quite quickly realized that might be a lost cause and let him ramble on, collecting his fruit and offering up some life advice. "No, I just really like the way cardboard boxes bring out the wall color." The hint of a smile pulled at her pink lips, sarcasm always a welcome veil under which she hid though it felt a little more forced than usual. "And I'm pretty sure Barry was here when I lived on the first floor a few years ago, but he seemed pretty harmless at the time. Though he did tell me they were cooking herbs back then. Thanks for the offer, but that was the last box." She nodded her head to the two boxes sitting by the counters end. "There wasn't much to bring up, moving's not so bad when you don't own much." Her slender shoulders rolled with feigned nonchalance, though she wasn't ashamed of having so little it wasn't something she typically discussed with strangers. "I'm Carolina, this is Grayson." Indicating the tabby that still sat almost statuesque beside her, his gaze never leaving the dark haired male. "And I guess that means I should try not to stomp around like a Clydesdale, no promises though."

It felt nice to attempt a normal conversation, something she might be out of practice with but still the effort was there. Yet when he asks what had drawn her there her hazel eyes sharpened slightly, perhaps an innocent enough question but not something she was about to get into with someone she hadn't known five minutes. "I can't imagine why..." she teased good naturedly enough, though she would be interested in knowing the reason as vampires did tend to stick to their own. "Just needed a change of scenery, new faces and such. You said you have a roommate, do they have an odd tendencies I should be aware of?" She was eager to change the topic, no need to let his scrutiny lie on her reasons for suddenly reappearing in Sacrosanct for too long.
