Anacosta Heights

Hawethorn Village

Anacosta Heights

Situated above the daily life of the city, Anacosta Heights is a tucked away suburb featuring extravagant neo-gothic inspired mansions. The inhabitants of this neighborhood often show their overwhelming wealth with sports cars lining their long, circular driveways, large pools, and manicured gardens. The homeowners of Anacosta Heights treasure their privacy as seen by the high iron gates to the security personnel present at every entrance.

Dupont Circle

Dupont Circle is a small suburban neighborhood settled within the serene portion of the southern portion of town. These four-bedroom, single-family homes feature back yards, porches, garages, and far more breathing space then the Village offers. This neighborhood often is more family orientated and even has organized events for children and the neighborhood as a whole.

Hawethorn Village

Settled in the middle of downtown, Hawthorn Village consists of several victorian inspired row houses just off the main street. Due to it's convenience to just about everything, the village can be a tad expensive to live within. However, the residents of this neighborhood often have two to three-story townhouses, often with a one to two-car garage. Many of the houses feature bay windows and/or rooftop terraces with a small fenced-in 'yard'.

River Dale

River Dale primarily consists of apartments that, despite their age and industrial appearing interior, still hold to the Victorian history that permeates the town. These apartments are often the cheapest option and sport scuffed, older wooden floors, open floor plans, visible beams, and the occasional brick wall.

living like we're renegades

It felt good to genuinely laugh again, how long had it been since she had felt comfortable enough to do that? Despite the suddenness of his appearance, Arlo perhaps had been a good thing for her. His response to her admittance that she had never heard a story quite so unique had her letting out another bit of laughter, if only in pure shock at the idea of him allowing a red panda to crawl around inside his shirt. Her head shook incredulously, almost willing to believe the whole thing was a fabricated story and yet he seemed genuine. "Well, I guess you're lucky she wasn't a biter then." A play perhaps on his own vampiric-ness but amusing to her all the same. "I'm still a little amazed at you for thinking she was a cat, and her for letting you. Red panda's always looked more like racoons to me." She rolled her bony shoulders slightly, willing to find amusement at his own expense of course not everyone could get to the zoo. She hadn't been since her change and even more so because of her recent experiences, seeing animals in cages brought too many bad memories to the light these days.

She watched his easy posture against the corner of the countertop, despite being a stranger in her apartment he seemed more at home here than she did but perhaps that was just the luck of his personality. She couldn't deny she felt a little envious, though she had been so carefree once upon a time. He seemed to agree with her idea that the Ark might be her best bet considering the clientele and its acceptance of the were species as a whole. Her dark brows raised with interest as he recounted some episode that had occurred there recently, a riot of sorts. She shook her head slightly, "Well I guess the drama is what keeps people coming back for more. I'm sure it means better tips at least so that's promising. They had a lot of security there the one time I visited before, so I guess they expect it. Personally I don't really see the appeal." Her experience with the Ark had been limited but she would not forget the experience any time soon, but one thing she did know is that the fighting pits weren't for her.

Her question regarding the music career he brought up seemed to catch him off guard, for once the loquacious man at a seeming loss for words momentarily. She found it a bit odd that this was a question that would throw him for such a loop, and the way he tried to brush the subject off so easily only made the girl more curious as she wondered what the true story there was. However, she couldn't fault the man for having secrets; Lord knows she had her fair share these days. So she let it lie, for now at least merely shrugging her shoulders once more. "Maybe, though I'm not quite as young as I look either. I grew up listening more to country than anything, and you don't strike me as the type." Despite her change having only been seven years ago, it felt more like ages sometimes when she looked back on it all.

However it was interesting to hear him describe being some uncommon, if not almost entirely extinct, subspecies of vampires. While she hadn't heard of it before it made sense at least, after all how many different types of Weres were in there world these days? Their kind as varied as they come, and yet she can't help the bitter comment that leaves her lips something the vampire apparently hadn't missed. His question and the actual concern in his voice drew her blue green eyes back to him with a mixture of wariness and surprise. She didn't have intentions of sharing her life story with a man she just met, friendly as he was the whole thing could be a damn ruse for all she knew, but the look in his eyes said he probably wouldn't let it go so easily. "It's nothing." She sighed, one hand trailing back up to play with a strand of her hair absentmindedly. "I don't know that I could say I'm wholly fine, but this place is a decent start, strange as that might sound. But I can understand why it would fuck with some vampires to find themselves the prey for once. It's not an easy feeling to get over" Which was true, she hadn't been hunted in the true sense, but finding herself as prey to a dangerous man had left her with much the same experience. She had escaped it and managed to get back here, but the feeling like her past could still find her was always there.

She was glad when the newspapers in the box seemed to distract him and the opportunity it gave them to change the subject, although this news was mildly shocking in its own right. His response to her biting words causing her to give a soft amenable laugh. "Well, when you walk around saying things like that I can't say I'm surprised." Her response was good natured, but distracted as her eyes scanned the article. The information was news to her, despite Arlo's insistence that it was widespread knowledge by this point she had been obviously out of the loop as of late. Listening to the details that Arlo's phone could provide as she moved into the living room herself. Her own phone was the ancient type, a brick she had picked up on her way back into the city with a new number and without GPS. The salesman in the store had been aghast that she would want such an outdated piece of technology, but it was better in this case she knew. Despite the veritable waterfall of information he was giving her, she was glad for it as it helped her feel a bit more grounded as to why she had felt things were slightly when she had run into Sebastian this time around.

His response regarding their lack of tax paying requirements had her huffing another laugh incredulously. "I guess it depends if it's money made in the US or not, though I wouldn't be surprised if there's some amnesty clause for foreign royalty or something. Would hate to tax those who have the money to afford it." She couldn't help the slight bitter tone in her voice, though she had once come from money herself of the old Southern variety it didn't improve her outlook on the rich much. Her delicate face shook at his next question of if she was from Wyoming, country enough she guessed but the wrong direction. "Originally I'm from down South, like deep south sweet tea and porch swings, but the last couple of years I was near Chicago, I just.... Didn't have access to much news." Her brows furrowed slightly as she tried to find a decent explanation, but she had to admit it sounded a bit lame; after all who didn't have access to TV and the internet these days.

The subject change of how exactly he knew the famous couple seemed like a safe enough topic, his answer a bit surprising and unorthodox, but she was beginning to think that's just who he was apparently. After all they had just met as he teleported into her kitchen. "You're the king of unconventional first impressions aren't you?" Rhetorical with just the few examples he had afforded her so far of how he had met various people, but she had to admit it made her like him the more for it. His next comment took her off guard, apologizing for things that were neither his fault nor that he had any control over. She brushed it off with a wave of her hand. "It's not your fault," was all she got out until he asked if she and Sebastian had ever been an item before. Pausing she shifted her hand to run it through her tousled blonde hair. "Nah, we were never a thing, though you never know what might have been if I hadn't disappeared I guess. We were barely friends I guess you could say, but there was chemistry the few times we did meet." She let out a light huff of sardonic laughter, perhaps feeling more jilted of stolen opportunities than she should, but the life she had recently come out of had left her without a lot of things. "I was more surprised he didn't mention it the other night when we ran into one another, but its not like he owes me an explanation."

It was a vast understatement of what had happened between the two of them just a few nights ago, her first night back in Sacrosanct when who of all people would find her standing on the street but Sebastian. There had always been a sort of connection between them two of them, and nothing surprised her more than that it was still there years later. It had come to light that he had wanted more than stolen kisses in a back corner booth, but then she had just been looking for an escape and perhaps they had both been the winner in that case.
