Carolina
Grace Bedford.

Everything with Mira seemed to come so very easy it was nearly off putting. Friendship, conversation, drinks, work; there was never an odd pause or awkward moment between the two and it filled Carolina with a warmth that rivaled any drink. Being rather nomadic throughout most of her adult life had left the leopard with profoundly few friends of any nature, fleeting acquaintances were easy enough for someone like her to manage but nothing real like this. It's one of the reasons she felt so comfortable offering that tit-for-tat option in regards to sharing stories of their past, though Carolina made a habit of avoiding such topics normally somehow sharing them with her coworker seemed less daunting.

At least they were able to avoid the topic, even if only momentarily, in lieu of taking subtle jabs at how insufferable Tetradore would be if he knew his girlfriend had actually compared him to a God. "Oh, trust your secret is safe with me." A laugh accentuating the warm feeling that sharing such 'secrets' with the wolf brought about. "Though, can you imagine him encouraging such rumors that he was a Demigod of some sort." Her turquoise eyes rolled playfully at the thought, the Alpha always enjoyed embellishing his reputation throughout the city.

Eagerly she accepted the drink Mira offered, naturally waiting until she had tasted it herself as any good bartender would. The cool concoction was of course fantastic, the delicious whiskey paired with the tart lemon lingered on her tongue even after she had swallowed and she ensured that her appreciation was apparent to its creator. The pair both sipped their drinks as they worked in companionable silence, bottles quickly filling shelves and boxes emptying in turn though Carolina could veritably feel her friend itching to ask the questions she had alluded to earlier. Her soft voice caught her attention easily, turning to face the dark-haired woman she leaned back against the counter as she processed her words.

Mira understood her, she realized, on a level she perhaps had not let or allowed anyone else to before now. With every statement the bartender seemed to commiserate with things Carolina had felt or done herself. It was almost to a level that a part of her wanted to doubt the intentions behind Mira sharing so much of herself unbidden, but that was just the piece of her who still trusted no one to actually care about her. It took the were a while to work up to her reply, opening up pieces of herself she typically preferred to keep hidden, but she could feel her friend giving her the time and space she needed to do so even as Carolina kept her hands busy with those bottles from time to time.

Her gaze did shift back to the she-wolf as she gently closed the cabinet door and spoke again, the reassurances she gave that Carolina wouldn't be any more restricted than she was now or that she needed to make up her mind tonight working to calm any nerves she might have had. It had never escaped her notice that she was the only consistent employee of the Ark who was not a part of that pack in truth, and though she had never felt out of place due to it doubts were prone to linger. The leopard laughed lightly, echoing her companion at her astute observation that she was in fact in far too deep not to simply leave at this point no matter her original intentions. "I was helpless against the lot of you, honestly!" Her lament still tinged with that laughter even as she teased, though the sentiment rang true. "I never would have imagined I would still be here after all this time, but you couldn't keep me away now. It's a good feeling to find a place you can be yourself... a place you can belong."

After so much of her live being carried from place to place like a leaf on the wind, every relationship or interaction built on a need to survive, the stability Sacrosanct and this place had given her was almost jarring. It was difficult to adjust her outlook on life, but Mira was starting to make her think this leopard could just change her spots... at least a few of them. At the other woman's astute observation that their drinks had indeed run dry Carolina lifted her own glass in mock toast, shaking it so the remaining ice cubes rattled noticeably before she moved to the bar. "I think strong is a given at this point." Her comment thrown over her shoulder as she stood back and appraised the shelves of liquor she had so recently shelved.

It took only a moment of contemplation before she reached for a bottle in particular, scooping up a lime on her way as well as a bottle from the fridge before heading to the counter again. Pulling out two tumblers she quickly sliced the lemon, juicing most of it into both glasses before following it with the top shelf vodka she had chosen. She added an extra few ounces of the spirit before tossing in a few ice cubes and filling the rest of the glass with ginger beer. She wedged a piece of lime on the corner of each, unable to resist that urge to garnish before she grabbed one of the thin black straws and tasted her work quickly. Nodding to herself she grabbed both glasses and turned to hand her work over to her friend with a smile. "To drinks as strong as the women who make them." She toasted with a drink, raising her glass briefly to Mira's own before taking a sip of the refreshing Moscow Mule. While the southerner typically preferred her drinks dark, she had developed a taste for it... and perhaps it reminded her of hot summer days back in the South as well.

Settling back in she reclined against the counters edge once more, content to pause on the unpacking for a moment as they had nothing but time on there hands and the leopard saw little reason to rush through everything they still had to do. "So what made you change your mind and stick around? Why did you finally join the pack?" Despite working with so many members of Nightshade, Carolina knew distinctly little of how any of them had come to join with the exception of some limited information about Tetra, Tobi, and Raven. If anyone could give her a good insight on why she should change her outlook on such attachments it seemed like Mira was more than qualified for the job.

I can't be alone with all that's on my mind
