You throw your head back, and you spit in the wind
Let the walls crack, 'cause it lets the light in
Let 'em drag you through hell
They can't tell you to change who you are
That's all I know so far

Some days were harder to be an empath than others, days like today when she could veritably feel the unease and disquiet rolling off of the lanky man's body even from her safe distance away. He seemed immune to any attempt at humor or lightheartedness she offered from the first moment she had greeted him on that dock. Maybe it had been a mistake to interrupt him and his failed fishing endeavor, but she supposed it was too late for that kind of thinking now. He seemed more than a little incredulous regarding her claim about Catfish and their rather unexpected enjoyment of cheese, which was understandable she had the same reaction as a young girl when her grandfather had told her the same thing. His biting remark about bullshit however was enough to almost make her wince, though the roll of his shoulder contradicted the harsh statement as if he couldn't care less despite that fact that between the two of them she actually had experience with the sport. "I said the same thing once." The even reply accompanied with a roll of her own shoulders, she would be wasting her breath trying to convince him otherwise.

The more she questioned him the more it became apparent that he was doing little more than tolerating her and this entire conversation, of everyone she had met on the Ark or within the Pack none had ever been quite so sheerly closed down to any kind of friendship from the southern girl. She tended to pride herself on her charm and ability to win people over, it was rather key to her making decent tips every night, but Henry showed no interest in engaging with her beyond the necessary. Her inquiry about what he liked to do seemed to absolutely stop him cold, as if it was the wildest notion imaginable. Didn't most people have at least one thing they enjoyed doing, none of it really made sense. The answer he finally gave made things as clear as mud, the information that he was struggling with his memory as enlightening but none of it provided anything that would help her help him, as if that was her job. She never was one to simply ignore someone who needed help, even if she wished otherwise. Like called to like. "That's... tough." It was all she could muster, keenly aware of how lame the reply sounded but what else did one really say to such a confession?

Her confusion only deepened as he referenced his dislike of being in the Ark despite living there, though she questioned her own knowledge enough that she asked if he did in fact live there. Stranger and stranger, the longer their conversation proceeded the more questions arose. His confirmation that he slept there was as blunt as everything else he had said so far, the acidic remark regarding their shared boss causing her eyebrows to raise, though he r questions died on her lips. It wasn't every day she met someone who didn't like Tetra, or at least disliked him so obviously, especially not one of the Nightshade members. The alpha had never been anything but generous to her, but maybe Henry wasn't so lucky. It was no secret that the panther often dwelt in the darker side of things.

Tousled blonde locks shifted as she shook her head no, the pack hadn't offered any information about Henry other than the obvious and she hadn't pried. "No, they haven't and I didn't ask. As someone with my own share of history and secrets I never wanted to pry into anyone elses." Offering Henry some kind of escape from the boat he so obviously disliked seemed easy enough to do, and she had space that was never really used anyway but it took him only a moment to decline for which she couldn't fault him. It wasn't as if the pair really knew each other after all. She nodded her head slightly, stepping towards the gangplank that lead up into the ship. "Well, I know everyone says it but if there's anything I can do to help let me know." Her shoulders shrugged softly, highly doubting that the other were would take her up on that offer either, but it seemed only polite to put it out there.
