they said fight fire with fire but i just got ash

There was something almost pleasant about that sound of her laughter, girlish as it was. Genuine laughter from the witch was a rather rare thing after all and yet, moments like this from the pair were perhaps almost as rare in turn. Neither of them particularly inclined to outwardly display those more…genuine emotions in the presence of anyone else and yet Azrael had become distinctly comfortable with that arrangement. After all, he hardly cared what anyone outside of Serafina might think upon him or that curious relationship. The Hunter wholly satisfied with things just as they were. He enjoyed those evenings with his girlfriend. Hell, he liked the company even if he rarely chose to admit to it. After so many evenings spent alone there was something pleasing about those nights he spent here during the week. Sera rarely asked him about his work and he rarely saw the need to offer any details, those near constant bad moods his job seemed to leave him in so having a habit of all but evaporating the moment that raven haired woman managed to distract him with her presence alone. There was something….nice about having a reason to forget all about his work or whatever being he’d spent the evening murdering. Azarel given to consider the hypocrisy of it all more and more of late and yet those thoughts so had a way of darkening his mood far too much. The man refusing to allow them to bother him now when he still had that woman in his arms. Her slender figure almost painfully easy to restrain against the hard planes of his chest. His lips brushing against her neck in an effort to distract her all over again only, Serafina promptly declaring it wouldn’t work, not this time. The little witch reminding him of those plans to go outside. That almost dramatic sigh falling from him now as he lent away, releasing his hold on her as she poked him. That grunt forced from him in response.

“For someone so damn little you have far too much energy. It’s like you don’t even understand Sunday’s.”

There was hardly any true disdain to that playful grumbling, the Hunter at last pulling himself into that upright position, one hand running through that mused blonde hair that seemed to spike in every direction. Azrael’s version of brushing so evidently to run his fingers through it until it sat reasonably flat. Another soft groan saw the Hunter at last rise to his feet before making some attempt to find his scattered clothing as Sera made her way to tend of the bed in turn to stretch. That shirt was finally located, the man pulling it on and over his head before he bent to rummage for his jeans. Damn things. He’d been sure he’d thrown them in this general direction. Those idle words called over the woman’s shoulder momentarily saw the man glance upward from his quest for pants, his features frowning slightly in some measure of consideration. He’d never really considered leaving clothing before and yet why hadn’t he? It seemed almost like a logical step of sorts. After all, they were in a relationship weren’t they? This was the sort of thing people in relationships did. Azrael perhaps taking more pleasure in that idea then he had anticipated.

That small smile threatened to tug at his lips all the same as he snatched his pants, tugging those jeans into place and fiddling with that button as he made his way towards the bathroom, his head peering around that corner as his girlfriend attempted to brush her teeth. Serafina near notorious for the effort she put into getting herself ready in the morning and yet he supposed he could hardly argue that he disliked the results, his golden gaze resting upon her now.

“This counts as a relationship step you know? Leaving clothes. And you didn’t think we’d last a month. Ha!”

One eye lifted upward in that almost daring jest of sorts as if almost encouraging the woman to attempt to argue. Sera near as equally as competitive of himself, Azrael content enough to tease at her, that near smug look on his features as that chuckle slipped from his lips. The Hunter stepping quickly out of that doorway before she could throw anything at him. Azrael making his way out of the bedroom and down the hall towards that kitchen and the call off coffee. That cookie was stolen almost sneakily, the man consuming it readily before pouring himself that cup of coffee. The scent alone acting as a damn lure it seemed, his lip quirking slightly as he lent almost lazily back against the kitchen counter, the sound of footsteps echoing down the hall. Azrael entirely aware that his coffee was in ready danger as he sipped at it. Those hands against his chest saw his own gaze drop downward, that rather small head and pair of eyes appearing upon the other side of his cup conspiratorially as she inquired whether or not he was going to share, his own rolling teasingly then as her lips brushed the rim of that cup.

“You say it like I have a choice.”

That near begging look managed to steal another sigh from him. Azrael taking a final sip before reluctantly handing that cup of coffee over, his hands remaining on it just a moment longer as he tugged her softly forward. His lips finding her own in that stolen kiss before releasing that cup to her in its entirety. Well, he might as well get something nice for his coffee. The Hunter rather enjoying that scent of soap on her skin as he lent smoothly away to rest back against that counter to offer those plans for the day. The man promising that this one surely involved less mud then the last outing he’d taken them on. The young woman’s query as to when she might get to go somewhere that involved her having the chance to look gorgeous seeing his features frown slightly. Women. It was as if she hardly knew how perfect she looked.

“Sera, you could wear a potato sack for a dress and you’d still look fucking amazing. I’ll take you somewhere nice all the same though.”

God it had been years since he’d taken a woman to anything…fancy. Azrael hardly ever invited to those sorts of events unless he was there to provide security or it was some sort of Hunter event. Neither of those exactly ideal for dating. Still, there had to be something right? A nice dinner maybe? The thought was put out of his mind for now, the man moving to see to another cup of coffee for himself, leaving Sera ample time to get ready before making his way out to the Aston Martin he’d left parked on the street, that door swung easily open for Sera as he made his way around the driver’s seat to settle into that plush leather interior. That car readily purred to life beneath his hands, Azrael reaching for slip his sunglasses into place before pulling away from that curb.

“You know, I think they found my other car too, the one that got stolen? Showed up at some auction a few months ago in the west. Not sure who bought it but I’ll find out. I got the security footage from the garage too, looks like it got stolen by some vamp and a really….furry ginger cat.”

His own head shook slightly at even the idea. What in the hell was a vampire doing with a cat to begin with? Azrael having grumbled for weeks over that stolen car. It had hardly been his favourite car or even his best one and yet still, the principal off it irked him. That drive was hardly far, Azrael turning onto that long road that led up and into the hills and that near secluded little property at the top. That car was shut off easily, Azrael swinging effortlessly out to open Sera’s door in turn, those age-old manners still readily intact before he strode up to that house. His hand reached into the nearest shoe resting outside, the expected spare key decidedly absent as that scowl found his features.

“There’s supposed to be a key here…..”

The words were almost a mumble to himself more than Serafina, the Hunter trying the next two shoes in turn. Great. This was how he wanted to spend his morning. With his hands in some damn shoes! It was a long shot to try that door handle, the knob refusing to turn, those windows barred over. Jackson always had been decidedly suspicious and overly cautious as if he thought a fucking army was going to try and break in at any moment. His house a fortress if nothing else. A groan echoed within his throat before that singular, small, un-barred, window above seemed to catch his attention, the man glancing briefly towards Sera and back again.

“How would you feel about….climbing though that window and unlocking the door from the inside for me? I can’t fit. I could blow the side of the house off but Jack will be damn pissed if I do that.”

It was something of a long shot. That window on the second story, Azrael already aware he was going to have to give the girl something of a boost, an almost devilish grin settling on his features then. The man attempting to appeal to that competitive side to the woman now.

“You know that’s a Witch Window right? Designed to keep your species out. It hasn’t got any sort of enchantment or anything, people just believe witches can’t get into windows that shape. If you can’t get in I may never actually let you forget it.”
