dance to the rhythm of your heartbeat

Truthfully, the blue-eyed blonde woman wasn't entirely sure exactly what her mother and father would think of the fae man. She could only imagine the look of skeptic and careful concern that had likely etched itself into the man's face when her mother had informed him that there would be a guest that Beylani would be having join them for dinner. A part of wanted to think that the very first man in her life would not be the way that he'd been with the boys of her past. The man had been less than fond of Brayden at first, and he'd made no hesitation in telling Beylani or the young woman's mother just what his opinion of the young man - or boy, rather since they had yet to cross that door into being young adults technically speaking - who had expressed such an interest in his one and only daughter. Even as time went on and it began to grow increasingly clear that what existed between Beylani and that boy was never going to truly amount to anything serious, he having been dead set in his determination to "fly the coup", leaving that sleepy old town for the crowded and bustling streets of New York City to take on the world and chase his ambitions that would surely come to him while Beylani had been hesitant then to leave her family behind for something so big and so... uncertain. Not that it had really been an adventure he'd asked for her to join him on. Perhaps they had both ended up in that relationship knowing entirely too well that the directions they wanted to go were two entirely different paths, that infatuation more or less doomed from the start to become nothing but a memory that she would look back on a time or two. Did she miss him? No. It was hard for her to miss something, miss someone that she'd never truly felt that special connection with in the beginning. Hell, even as she dared to think back on how it even as that they had ended up considered an item, she could hardly say that it had much of a whirlwind of emotion. They'd spoken with each other a few times, he'd flirted with her every once in a while and she would blush beneath that attention she had been so very unaccustomed to. Eventually, when she befriended Jordan and Brittany, that was when Brayden and the twins had become a more consistent part of her social circle. While her friends started dating his friends, it started out as all of them hanging out more, making bonfires and sitting on the tailgates of the boys' trucks laughing and being nothing beyond typical teenagers. There'd been teasing and joking about how Beylani and Brayden would be cute together, that they could all go on triple dates or what have you. In the end, it all sort of happened simply because they'd gotten to know each other enough that sharing a hug, holding hands, letting him put his arm around her waist was almost natural when, thinking back to how terribly short his nearness fell compared to the nearness of Andras in her present life, maybe it had been something that was expected from her peers.

Needless to say, when the blue-eyed blonde had told her parents about the relationship, her father had been quick to protest against it. Brayden wasn't a scoundrel by any means, but the man was adamant that Beylani didn't need to be with a " wanna-be rebel that didn't give a crap about the trouble he got others in". Her father had been right in what he'd said, but Beylani hadn't really given much thought back then. Many of the girls in her school thought he was hot, fawned over him any time that he might glance their way for a moment. She couldn't deny that there had been a physical attraction to him, and it had likely played a large part in what led to them becoming an item in their high school career. The way that he would smile that lopsided grin, the way that his hair was styled and always seemed to be the right amount of messy or windswept, the way that his button-up t-shirts would always be left open a few buttons down to show that bare and well-defined chest and his faded blue jeans would always have holes in the knees and various other places... Brayden had been the epitome of that wild country bought any country girl would die to call their own. He was a smooth-talking casanova with what tendency to ignore the rules. Whether it be trespassing on private property or skipping classes, he was notoriously known for doing whatever he wanted and always getting away with it. It was hard to believe that his grades had been able to stay in the varied range between A's and B's, but it wasn't like he was entirely without common sense - if anything being surprisingly smart even though he hardly played on that part of who he was when he was surrounded by his friends. The thing about Willowhaven though was that word spread like wildfire in that small rural town, so his antics were hardly unknown by Beylani's parents simply because of how the people talked amongst themselves and their neighbors. And so, it was only natural that the young woman's father had tried to do what he could to get his daughter away from the troublemaker. Andras wasn't like that, though. Not in the least. He was honest and he was composed - most of the time. Unlike Brayden, the fae man obviously had his life figured out and a... career of his own that allowed for him to be as successful as he was. Sure, he had that devilish nature about him that the blue-eyed blonde could never imagined him without, but even then he still blew Beylani's ex boyfriend out for the water, and then some. He was that guy any woman would want to bring home to her family... Yet, she still couldn't convince herself that her father wouldn't arrive armed with heavy suspicion of the man that had become a part of the young woman's life.

Flashing her that wicked grin so very capable of sending her heart a-flutter, his midnight tenor tones have her imagining the man without his shirt and she can begin to feel the warmth of desire flickering through her as she offers him that impish and bold smile as that side of her easily overrides the timidness that would have left her scrambling, fighting against the color that would surely have risen to her cheeks."I certainly do think you're overdressed, but I'm not sure how my father would appreciate meeting you without a shirt, so overdressed will have to do", she replies daringly to the fae man as he moves past her and into her apartment. Just the memory of the hotsprings, of that moment when he'd pulled her beneath him as the glow of the fireplace kissed his skin, it has her wanting, but she is quick to push it away almost defiantly, knowing that if she were to let those thoughts and fantasies find her now, Andras would know almost instantly what was on her mind without even having the ability to look into it. So, she says thankful for his next dry remark at the absence of Chika, her own reply hardly seeming to give him the same faint amusement that she drew from that moment which had left her surprised and perhaps even shocked at the level of hostility the feline had reacted with. She allows for her softened gaze to linger on the scarf she'd made for him, her fingers brushing gently against the fabric as she recalls everything from that day. How she would happily travel back in time just to enjoy it once more, a little bit longer... Only when he removes that jacket does her attention leave the scarf as her baby blue gaze travels over him and again she finds herself having to refrain from thinking about the muscle that she knew well to rest beneath that fine clothing. He gives her another wicked smile then, tenor tones bearing a question that again has that boldness in her finding its way into those glittering aqua depths as she gives him a coy smile upon those blush-colored lips."Perhaps", she says simply and in mock thoughtfulness, though she was more than certain he would be able to see her true answer within those baby blues that looked up into his hazels. Suddenly, just as easily as he was always able to do with the young woman, his attention turns to her next string of words and his query has that shyness rising above the boldness as if it were hardly a feat at all as that flush only deepens."Just that I met someone charming and handsome. She drew her own conclusion though, seeming to think that we're, you know, an item. I told her you were just a good friend, but she doesn't seem to believe me. Pretty silly, right?", she answers, ushering a soft note of laughter at the end of her words though it was not that same bright and joyful sound that sang into the crisp winter air as they'd danced together that day in Somnia. There was only half her heart put into it, that pang pulling at her heartstrings as she tries to bury those feelings she had for him that ran so deep within her that perhaps she didn't even quite understand it entirely.

Saved once again by the fluid movements of their conversation, she gives him a small smile now as she nods softly, thankful that he wouldn't bring up such matters of the supernatural sort. She wasn't sure if they would even believe her or Andras really, and the last thing she wanted was for them to think that he was not entirely sane when it was nothing but the truth that such a world did in fact exist."I want to wait for the right time. I'm not sure when that might be, but I doubt that tonight would be ideal. A simple dinner with my favorite people is all I want tonight", she says softly to Andras as her gaze remains intertwined with his. It was true that it was all she wanted, at least as far as dinner went... She knew that she wanted more than that as they stood there alone, but she chose to focus on the moments to come rather than what was here and now. When he adds to his previously spoken words, the young woman's smile softens."Of course, Andras", she answers gently to him then, remembering well how she had promised him that she would tell no one of how they'd truly met that first night. She'd kept her promise made to him all this time and she would continue to until the day she drew her final breath. Beylani would never betray anything that she didn't feel he would want others to know, even if he hadn't sworn her to secrecy. He closes the distance between them and she feels her heart beginning to beat faster witin her breath as he reached for her, brushing his fingers against her cheek. He smiles gently down to her as she admits to him the nerves that filled the back of her mind. His words fall easily over his lips and she can't help the soft laughter that tumbles over blush-colored lips. Her breath nearly catches at his next words and she finds herself searching those dark hazel depths, for what she isn't entirely sure, and unbidden her fingers play with that highest button, moving so that it is undone as that boldness dares to slowly return to her."If there's anything else I can do to make you feel more than better, don't hesitate to ask", she purrs up to him then before her hand flits down to the next button and undoes it as well before she is able to slip away from him, knowing all too well by now how it was this game they played with one another tended to go. But as she places that distance between them to return to that place in front of tr counter where the cutting board and partially prepped vegetables sat, she can't help but glance over her shoulder, loosely curled blonde hair swirling around her shoulders as baby blue cast a teasing glance when she catches he fae man taking in her slender frame. She lifts a brow at him then, as if to ask without words what it was that he was thinking that has those hazel eyes trailing along her womanly figure. No words fall from those lips dancing with a daring smile when at last she forces herself to turn her attention back to finishing that preparation for dinner.

Little concern was found in her words as she tells him of that unexpected encounter with the infamous Frost. She remembers all too easily how unnerving his presence has been, but she'd only thought of it to be simply because of how the other in the café had reacted to he man, believing that the lack of emotion in those unusual violet eyes had also played a part. She couldn't say that she'd ever seen people falter in the presence of an unarmed man before, aside from perhaps a movie or something. There has been a sense that Frost was not as human as he had appeared, remembering in that moment the warnings that Dorian and Andras had given her in the past. All the same, she had been able to resume her shift and return home in one piece, so that had to mean something right? She had wished almost desperately that afternoon that just maybe Andras would have walked through the door and chased away that uneasiness, but he hadn't. Besides, she hadn't really been alone that day anyway and the man with white hair had taken interest more in the carrot cupcakes than anything else. What comes unexpectedly then is those tenor tones and how close they suddenly become. Before she can turn to look over to Andras, she can feel his hand reaching out for hers as he then tugs her so that h3r body turns to face him. If not for the trust that she had in him, she might have been startled, and perhaps to a degree she was taken aback by the stern look that fell over his chiseled features."He's dangerous"... Baby blues do not falter from those hazel depths as he finally eases the moment with a gentle smile, an ever so faint sigh rushing over his slightly parted lips. She doesn't need to ask why because no less than a small breath later, he explains the reasoning behind his words and she can hear a tinge or concern there amidst those tenor tones."Okay", she replies quietly, giving a gentle nod of her head. She wasn't sure how it was that she would avoid him, at the café of all places where she happened to work, but she would try. It is then that he advances closer, Beylani reflexively moving to make room for him beside her only for the fae man to steal the entire space for himself. He unbuttons the cuffs of each sleeve before rolling them up to reveal the sinew of his forearms as he announced that he would be finish making dinner, and while the young woman was uncertain if she should be flattered or not, she eyes him curiously for a moment before turning to retrieve that bottle of wine and two glasses."It seems a little backwards for the guest to be making the meal, don't you think?", she teases him lightly then as she pours the wine into each glass, setting the bottle down on the counter before she retrieves her glass to take a sip, savoring the taste of that liquor she was growing fond of. She blinks thick lashes over her baby blue eyes when he asks what it was he was making as he looks over the her."Just a chicken casserole with sautéed vegetables. Nothing as extravagant as the dinner you treated me to on my birthday", she remarks casually, the last piece of her words growing soft with the fondness of that memory they awakened in her thoughts. It was hard for the young woman not to return to those memories they've made together, playing them over again as she wished to feel them once more. Especially when she was alone.
