In all that Dorian had so anticipated of this day, in all he had so come prepared for after those months of consideration and practice and preparation- he had so hardly readied himself for that singular moment within the car. He had been so determined to be nothing short of that picture of perfection when it came to restraining his emotions to a certain level. After all, it would not do for the very Monarchy to be entirely too emotional on his wedding day. Dorian assured he would make it to that very alter in the least before he might find himself overcome with how decidedly happy he was today. Yet, it seemed, that Matteo was near destined to threaten to undo that courageously gathered steel. How simple those words, how kindly offered and yet how the threatened to bring that moisture to his eyes all at once! In all his life the Frenchman had, not once, truly offered him those words of care, of love. He had known, of course, how it was that Matteo surely felt about him. It was there in those small gestures and indeed those far grander ones in turn and yet to hear such words so finally offered allowed to him was perhaps far more meaningful than he had dared realise. That soft, genuine utterance of thanks all he could truly manage in that moment as that car so finally arrived at its destination- that glorious basilica a veritable beacon of light and festivity in the night. Those surrounding crowds seeming to swell all the more in anticipation of their very arrival and yet- Dorian so had but more utterance to give. Two, he was assured, could play at this game. Wedding day or not. That simple moniker befalling his own lips in those moments that followed. That singular shock upon his Father’s face at so at last being called ‘dad’ the most genuine and true expression he had ever seen the man give. Dorian quite unable to prevent that impish grin that found his own lips in simple satisfaction at that alone.

His silver gaze shifted at last away from the Frenchman beside him and to that gathering parade outside. Alexander the last of that wedding party to take to that aisle so signalling his and Matteo’s own turn. The door of the car was easily opened, much to the delight of the crowd, another roar seeming to overtake them as those cameras flashed by there thousands and those television presenters talked in hurried excitement to introduce Dorian himself to those beings whom watched from home. His hands reached but a final time towards his collar, assuring its strightness, that nervous anticipation so prompting a need to move his fingers in some fashion if only to assure not even a button was out of place upon his outfit. His silver gaze was cast towards those heavy oak doors as Matteo’s shoulder pressed silently into his own in that singular reassurance he hardly required and yet appreciated all at once. The shift in that music from within so surely signified his own arrival, his thoughts readily turned toward Sebastian once more and his singular desire to be beside the man he so adored. How curious it was that he had once so dreaded the idea of getting married, that he had feared each day his Father might announce that he had found someone for him and that he was sure to be near dragged down that aisle against his will. How much things had changed. How ready he was for this day and this moment. Those doors so finally opened to admit him into that basilica at last.

Those guests inside rose immediately to their feet, the music swelling once more to dance and echo about that elaborate and truly vast holy space. Near each and every inch of that room decorated to fine glory. Dorian so finding himself near overwhelmed at the sight. Oh, but how he would remember this day, this time, this moment for all of his life! His gaze readily brushing over that sea of people, some decidedly familiar, others he was assured he hardly knew and yet in that moment it hardly mattered. His gaze readily fixating upon the end of that aisle and the singular man standing their in that black outfit so decidedly perfect it was as if his very limbs had near forgotten to propel him forward. The Monarch near rendered into immobility at the sight of his fiance- more perfect then he could ever have imagined- so positioned at the end of that aisle so awaiting him. How on earth he had found Sebastian he hardly knew, let alone what he might well have done to deserve him, to be the envy off so many other hearts. He still remembered that moment they met with a near perfect clarity. Just as he remembered that first night, that first date and flower and gift and kiss and everything in between. He had remembered how to live because of Sebastian. He had remembered how to be happy. Perhaps it was near ironic that it had taken a vampire to bring back that life to himself and his country in turn. How far they had come and yet- he would not have changed but a minute of it. Matteo’s soft whisper at last seeming to find him with that singular suggestion that it was surely be better if they started to walk. Dorian, all at once, seeming to remember how.

His gaze so failed to waver in those moments that followed. His eyes upon Sebastian alone, that very congregation near forgotten as he moved, step by step, down that aisle and towards his fiance. That near beaming grin still upon his lips as he passed those dignitaries and members of state, those lords and ladies and fellow monarchs before at last moving past their own family and friends whom occupied those first rows. Dorian distinctly aware of Arlo and Abby, Troy and Andras and Lani and Dareios and Vhalla, Raven and her own fiance. Their very presence a further reminder off all he had come to have since that fateful night beside a burning bar. That music begun to soften then as they reached the end of that aisle, Sebastian’s hand extended toward him, that desire to take it near overwhelming and yet the Monarch so paused- as custom dictated. Affording Matteo that opportunity to perform his own duty as the words of His Holiness the Pope so rang out and that music ceased to play.Who gives this man to be married to this man today? Matteo’s own form shifted slightly, his hand resting upon Dorian’s shoulder then a his gaze shifted to meet the Fae King’s own before turning back toward the Pope himself.

”I do.”
”Do you, Matteo Noè Louis Deverux, as representative of both families today, support Dorian’s decision to join together in holy matrimony with Sebastian, and do you vow to receive him as a member of your family from this day on?”
“On behalf of all that have gathered here, and of all those not able to be with us today, I do."

The simple nod of the Pope’s head so readily prompted that final squeeze of Matteo’s hand upon his shoulder. Dorian affording his father that grin before the Frenchman moved to offer Sebastian that same smile, his head nodded to the vampire before he moved to take his place in that front seat. Dorian so at last free to place his hand in Sebastians own and take his place beside him. The Monarch quite unable to stop that warm smile still upon his features as his hand afforded his lovers own that gentle squeeze in return. The Pope grinning warmly at them both before those near equally as age old words echoed across that space. ”Dearly beloved, you have gathered here today into the house of the Church so that in the presence of the Church’s minister and the community your intention to enter into Marriage may be strengthened by the Lord with a sacred seal….” Dorian was so hardly assured he even heard the rest of those words, the Monarch so wholly aware of Sebastian’s hand nestled within his own alone and that glorious church that so seemed to surround them. How many times had he heard those words before in those many weddings he had attended in his youth and yet- how much more meaning they held today, here and now. The Pope requesting then that they might turn to face one another in that declaration of their own consent before that congregation and God. Dorian assured his very heart near seemed to swell in that moment as his gaze readily met Sebastian’s own. His right hand entwined with the vampires as custom dictated. That pope turned to face him now.

”Dorian, do you take Sebastian for your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?”

In all his life Dorian was quite near assured there was perhaps no question he had ever so readily and so assuredly known the answer too. His gaze moved easily from His Holiness then and back to Sebastian himself, readily meeting that bright and vibrant blue off his lovers own. Those simple, age-old words offered with a distinct clarity and ready assurance in those accented tones that were, perhaps, slightly thicker with that depth of emotion that seemed to lace his lyrics.

“I do.”

-and how marvellous they felt to say. How true they were! Dorian assured that in all his life their had been no other, nor would there be. It was entirely as he had told Dareios that day. His sun rose and set with the very man whose hand he held now, with the very man he had just promised to remain with for the rest off his life. He had waited near six hundred years to find Sebastian and this moment was decidedly perfect. The Pope turning then to Sebastian to offer the Englishman those same words of consent before Alexander and Giles could be ushered over with those rings for the blessings and vows.

”Sebastian, do you take Dorian for your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?”
