East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Even though Samantha was sure that Nadya was trying to reassure her that when it came to her parents, she could always go home, Samantha was sure that she would never, ever do that. She didn't think that they would outright reject her, no, but she certainly didn't think that they would be accepting. They hadn't known about the supernatural world, or so she thought. As she'd grown into her role as a supernatural herself, she wasn't so sure. Sure, she'd grown up with the same little fairy tales as everyone else, but at what point did those cross over into warnings. They'd joked that she would need to be inside before the moon rose or the Weres would get her, to remember the silver around her neck to keep vampires away, or to always carry a bit of iron with her just in case â€" the last one, she had never used and often wished she had. No, she had begun to realize that they knew about the supernaturals. They knew about them, and they feared them. And they would fear her.

"Maybe." Was all Samantha found it within herself to say, giving Nadya a nod. "Maybe I'll check up on them." And she meant that. But what she didn't mean was that she would go out of her way to talk to them. No, she would check on them, but she would love them from a distance. She would never enter their lives again; it just wasn't safe for them. Not with the girls after her. Leading them directly to her parents felt too dangerous. Still, the girl was hardly willing to continue the conversation regarding her parents. If Nadya had been the empath, she would have been able to feel nothing but the despair that seemed to flow through Sam at the mention of her family. No, she was sure that Nadya would not understand her pain. Not understand why she couldn't see them. But the faerie queen had no ability to explain.

In that, the girl had hardly noticed when she'd squeezed the piece of glass in her hand. Between the thoughts of her family and the thoughts regarding what Frost had said, it was enough to make the fractured mind of the faerie break. The girl was so focused on the what-ifs of whether or not Aiden could have possibly been doing the things that Frost said he was, that she didn't notice the steady stream of blood that seemed to drip down her palm. In fact, it wasn't until Nadya peeled her fingers away from the glass did Samantha's features blink into focus. She winced as the glass was removed and placed on the desk. "My power." She said softly, shaking her head as if to clear her head. "Yes, of course. I... practice." She shook her head again. "It's happened before. It seems to... matter... what my emotion is. Tobi... he... he startled me when I woke up... and glitter... and when I got sad... bubbles."

The girl tensed as Nadya moved in, pressing her lips to Samantha's cheek. She felt the wound on her palm stitch up, and a small breath of air seemed to leave her lips. "Thank you," She whispered, before she looked up to meet the woman's eyes at the word of warning regarding Aiden and what the man would or wouldn't like. She nodded. "I'll practice." She promised as Nadya withdrew from her entirely, offering up the practice that Samantha desperately needed, if only she came to the Ark. The girl tensed at the suggestion, the thoughts of the danger that possibly lurked there still fresh on her mind. But no, she couldn't deny coming to the Ark without arising suspicion, so while her heart raced at the idea of it, Samantha nodded. "Sure, I... I'll come by tomorrow." She said, fully intending that she would go ahead and go there, even if she was afraid.

It was only the mention of the glass again that caused Samantha to nod, intending to keep from touching it. "Yeah, okay," She agreed, willing to leave it for another time. Instead, the woman moved over to grab her jacket off the coat rack, wrapping it around herself. "I think I'm going to go home for the night. I don't think that I can be here tonight." She paused, looking at the woman. "Will you walk me home?"
