East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

i used to rule the world

seas would rise when i gave the word

It concerned the Macedonian man, truly, of the young woman's clear determination to so deposit one of her most treasured of possessions into his care. And why would it not? The music box was entirely legendary, as so too was the woman herself for the hardships she'd faced and her untimely and ultimate demise. The world had gone wild with the notion of the lost Duchess and all the while, Alexander himself had seen to her care to shape her into the everlasting and yet, still entirely elegant woman that stood before him. Still, a soft breath left the Hunter's lips as the young woman shook her head at him, denying him any efforts to return the object. Still, he supposed he could not fault her. His own veritable treasure trove still existed under lock, key, and careful scrutiny. The King was much akin to a dragon with the hoard he had accumulated, objects the world itself would have beheld with baited breaths and slack jaws. They were the accolades of his conquests, of his multitude lifetimes, and Alexander was very much a selfish man, keeping such trinkets wholly for his own benefit. That she might so easily depart from one of hers was all but baffling to the Hunter and yet, his perplexion hardly registered on those stone carved features.

There was no denying Anastasia was correct, history reminded him often enough of the world that he had long sense lost and yet, for whatever wistful reason, the Macedonian man enjoyed the simplicity of simply touching such meaningless objects of the past. They were, in a way, a fashion to so remind himself of the concreteness of those memories that often times felt as fleeting as dreams. After the slow traverse of time, Alexander found himself often wondering which thoughts were indeed true recollections and which were something else entirely. Either way, he found himself unable to forget it all. Still, the Dark Hunter nodded, obfuscating that jewelry box in the same velveteen fabric that it had so arrived in before placing it upon the desk behind him for the moment. Tonight, he would see to it's safe harbor where it would be tucked delicately away into a glass box to be placed amongst hundreds of others - safe from air, safe from light, safe from touch. If this was what she willed, he would comply to the fullest of his capabilities - for her alone.

Still, any such inquiries of the box itself was near forgotten in the bewitching duchess' own idle wonderings. He knew well that it was but a distraction for the simple observation that he too knew she knew he was aware of. This music box was not the only reason she was here, and he was certain it was not for his own benefit. Still, Alexander did not press the issue, letting the conversation easily turn to his own doings. "Nothing - at least, not at first." He uttered simply, his gaze drifting momentarily past her towards the cafe behind her. "I lost a bet that started all of this." He gestured to the world behind her, a small shrug crossing his shoulders. "There was nothing else of interest in the meantime." Alexander was referring to the world at large in that moment, wars were perhaps the only thing of interest to the strategist and Iran was altogether lackluster to him. "Still, there are a few weres here I have my eye on that might hold some promise." It was the closest indication he gave of Frost, Alexis, and in turn Calliel. They were creatures of intrigue to Alexander but he was not yet certain they would pan out in the same fashion Anastasia herself had.
