East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

Ain't life just awful strange

A new world hangs outside the window
Beautiful and strange
It must be I've fallen awake
I must be

The dark hunter's gut tightened and churned, causing a chain reaction in her chest, in which her heart beat quickened to the point that it was banging against the confines of her rib cage. There was something about this particular vampire that set her on edge. She generally didn't enjoy being in the company of any of them, but Sebastian was different. Maybe it was because he was the first who got close enough to attempt to use his affinity on her since Jason. Maybe it was his sly and lackadaisical nature. Either way, every fiber in Buffy's being told her that he needed to die. Certainly her life would be much easier if she didn't keep running into him and in turn, dredged up old feelings she thought was behind her. Not to mention there'd be one less bottom feeder around to prey on the likes of the innocent women and men in this town.

But her time was running out. The bouncer had disappeared from the doorway though Buffy believed him when he said was calling the cops. While the police here hardly interfered with dark hunters and what they did, she didn't need to deal with being called in for questioning and ruffling the features of the Council. Perhaps Sebastian would live to see another day (or night), but Buffy had committed this interaction to memory. He was on her list. It was personal now.

She watched as something she said seemed to leave a mark against Sebastian's outer exterior. For just a split second, she could see the look of disgust on his face as he stared back at her, his interest in this face off clearly waning. His last words echoed in her mind, and she tilted her head to one side as she considered this. The tone in his voice had changed. The look in his eye softened. He wasn't lying. He wasn't toying with her.

Buffy took a deep breathe as she internally debated whether or not to take the bait. The night was still relatively young. She still had time to hunt down the vampire she had hoped to find here tonight. But she couldn't let Sebastian off the hook that easily. "Oh yeah, and what's that?" She blurted out, shoving one balled fist into her jacket pocket and momentarily breaking her stare to assess the bleeding palm of the other. She opened her fist for the first time in a long time, and winced slightly as the cut opened up, the free flowing of her blood continuing to pour from the wound's opening.
