East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

My name is Death and the end is here.
Nothing satisfies me but your soul.

To anyone that might have looked her way, Phaedra was relaxed with her back facing the wall. Her fingers twirling a loose black curl as she propped her elbow on the back of her chair to look across the room while her other hand rested on the bar twisting her beer glass between her thumb and fingers in such an absentminded gesture.

Her unusual violet eyes flickered over the crowds as if she were just people watching at the end of a long day, though never quite lingering on any one person. There was something in her eyes... she spooked the locals. Vannick had said it was their eyes that gave them away as hunters, never look too long or even humans would begin to sense something was off about them. A hint of a coy smirk curved her sanguine colored lips with a Mona Lisa quality that made her more mysterious at the thought of her long dead teacher.

For once, she looked soft and feminine with a natural colored off-the-shoulder sweater that seemed to be slowly inching farther down her right shoulder and burgundy leggings. A far cry from the dangerous hunter she was. She was simply soaking in the sounds of people, the smells of liquor, and food. Unless you noticed the muscle working in her jaw as she clenched it. She was lost in thought. Lost in the events of the day that replayed over and over.

What vampire could be powerful enough to orchestrate such a brazen attack? The question continued to surface every time she replayed the events of the evening in her mind. Not one or two... but three other covens. He managed to unite four large covens. She couldn't keep her mind from wandering on to the implications of what the vampire had told her. It wasn't much but enough to keep the others and herself caught up in whatever this subterfuge was.

She lifted the glass to her lips and swallowed the ice-cold beer as she suddenly found herself thirsty with the desire to wash the bitter thoughts. It stung her lip that was still healing and she closed her eyes for just a minute. Her body always ached. Every battle had left a wound and every wound had left a scar. She rolled her shoulders to loosen them as she inhaled sharply. These wounds were fresh and from a hunt that had ultimately failed. In a day or two, there would be nothing left visible... only the ever-present ache to remind her to dodge or parry faster, anticipate and think three moves ahead. Somehow, she always bled for the cause.

Phaedra sensed him moving towards her, her eyes opened slowly focusing on the floor. The flash of movement in her peripheral vision had her body tense on instinct preparing for reaction. Waiting a beat, she turned her gaze to him; working her way up from the floor to rest on his face. Her violet eyes met his as she tilted her chin up slightly, almost defiantly. Vampire. Old, she would guess. She inhaled his scent. She could always tell them by their scent, it was never quite... right. Not human. Perhaps it was their blood.

This always went one of two ways... a conversation or a fight. As he seemed more interested in the chair and less interested in her, she conceded with a polite nod and gestured towards the chair with a rogue smile. "It's all yours." She said with the lit of Scotland creeping in to her voice. Perhaps he had not realized what she was or perhaps he didn't care and needed a drink more than he cared about whether she was knife happy. Either way, she turned her gaze back out to the throngs of people, retreating to her thoughts. He wasn't currently on her hunting that she could remember and all she really wanted was to hide from being what she was for one night.

"talks like this."
