East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

there are as many truths as stars in the sky, and everyone of them different
perhaps that is the only real truth

There is an open kindness to the woman that draws me in. Maybe it is because I sense a free spirit, much like myself, or maybe just a spirit in need of a friend. I never had girl friends as a youth for I was too busy practicing magic and I exulted in my skilled potions. There were a few witches in my age but none in my class, really, and most of them were more intent on other forms of magic that did not involve bespelling herbs and mixing concoctions. It was all well and good but after I settled in Sacrosanct I began to become aware of my less than amazing social life. It was no wonder I had instinctively rushed to help Miyako. I sense no hint of power upon her and for now I tentatively think she is human - just the kind of a friend I needed.

As she grasps my hand and pulls it slightly closer to look I glance at her own. On instinct my fingers twitch in hers because I almost send out my power to heal her. It had been a while since I had healed another and the striking urge hits me but I stop as she drops my hand and lurches away to find ointment. I can't heal her lest she suspect something was off and anyways, bonding with a human meant I had to play human to. So when she comes back with the ointment I am fresh with an eager smile, not even flinching at the sting when she rubs it into my cuts.

"It is quite alright. I often get stings and cuts at my business." It was true - some of them were due to thorns or prickly plants, but others were from blood needed to infuse a potion. I dabbled very little in the blood arts though, for it was a scary and often dangerous one. It seems Miyako is just as exuberant as I am about this odd pairing - we've only just met and yet I can see the wheels turning in her eyes. I smile broadly and nod enthusiastically. "That sounds great," I say truthfully. "It means I get a homecooked meal and a few lessons, how could I say no?"

"You are welcome, Mi. I do not like to see others struggling when a simple kindness can be helped. But you said that you are here for the doctorate program? How wonderful!" I actually clap my hands together like a giddy schoolgirl because I can't HELP but think this is divine intervention. Immediately I lean back onto a box, hip propped against it. "I own a shop around the corner were I sell medicinal and herbal remedies in lieu of practiced medicine. I like to think myself a healer of sorts," I say, biting back a grin. I actually WAS a healer and so some of the concoctions were magic... it still worked, right? "You should come by sometime and check it out. I know most people think such things are hocus pocus," and I wiggle my fingers for effects, "but I can assure you that my stuff is legit. Would be nice to see what a real doctor thinks of it." So she wasn't a doctor yet, she was in my book by now.
