East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

FLORENTINE WINTER

It is not often that Kearn would be of a sunny disposition, and had Flora not been hurriedly guzzling her beer, then she may have taken a moment to truly witness such an anomalous moment. However, adult drinks were the illicit order of the day and the child was determined to reap every benefit she could from this moment.

Like a hawk, her eyes follow him from above the rim of her pint glass. Flora was a pretty child, with her thick tangle of honey hair â€" occasionally adorned with wild flowers â€" and delicate features. However, the same could not be said for her manners â€" a side effect of growing up on the streets no doubt. She barely conceals a belch behind the rim of the glass, a hiccup chasing it up. She ignores the glances of disgruntled and curious patrons as she proceeds to drunkenly bellow out the order for Kearn's whiskey. If she was going to get out of this without too much of a lecture, she had better loosen him up with a glass of expensive whiskey.

Her nose wrinkles at his threat. "The police can't catch me!" She boasts, buoyed by alcohol and pride. "I learned from the best." The last word is accentuated with a slap to his wrist, clear evidence of her speed, even as she was rapidly falling three sheets to the wind. She fixes him with a fierce stare, she would share a lot of things with him, but the greasy chips were hers. However, even through the descending drunken haze, she seems to think better of aggravating her guardian and retracts her hand, slowly.

With hawk eyes, and thoroughly delighted with her choice of drink for him, Flora watches as Kearn appreciatively brings the whiskey to his nose. With more gusto than is required for such a delicate gesture, Flora's pint glass thrusts against Kearn's whiskey. Her smile is wider than ever, sloppier than ever and more challenging than ever as he toasts her health. "Yes! To my health." She hums appreciatively, gulping down another liberal swallow of her beer. Yet her eyes do not stray from Kearn's glass and an ominous moment of silence follows before she chirps, "Can I have a taste of your whiskey?"

Her pint glass finds the bartop with a heavy thump, her greasy fingers already reaching for his glass before she thinks better of it. "Quick swap?" Flora offers instead. Kearn was a tradesman after all, better to meet him halfway... Beadily her eyes flit between the whiskey and his face as she gropes for another chip, popping it into her mouth. Generously Flora slides the basket of fries across to Kearn, maintaining eye contact throughout as she attempted her most tried and tested look of appeal. Studiously she ignores the ominous tilting of the room and the strange, incessant need to giggle.
