East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

dance to the rhythm of your heartbeat

Just as things have always been since the very beginnings of time, the first light of a new day leaked through the thin white linen curtains of her bedroom, causing thick lashes to fluttering slightly as they began to crack open groggily. As if she had been waiting what seemed like hours (when surely it was only the passing of moments) with pale jade eyes fixated upon the sleeping face of the young woman with blonde hair streaked in milk chocolate undertones, it is no sooner than the tortoiseshell feline sees the faintest of stirrings in Beylani tucked warmly beneath the covers of her bed that a "mrrow" is ushered softly into the quiet bedroom, as if to say "okay human, you've slept long enough so now it's time to get up and do chores". And by chores of course the mottled black, orange, and bronze queen would mean tending to her needs as any good human servant should first thing, if she were truly capable of such thoughts."Good morning to you as well, Chiki", says the young women only seconds before a yawn escapes her. She stretches beneath the blankets and remains there for a moment before finally she sits up and gently throws her feet over the side of the bed, slipping bare feet into soft and plush powder blue slippers. Chika is quick to follow, leaping effortlessly from her post beside Beylani's pillow where she'd surprisingly waited patiently for her human to awaken. On most mornings, the feline saw to it that the sun was only just beginning to rise when she beckoned the blonde girl to rise, the sky only just beginning to grow lighter. Today was Sunday though, and so there seemed to be a mutual understanding between cat and woman that Sundays were the ever adored "lazy days".

Well rested and surprisingly awake for having just risen from her deep and sound sleep, Beylani opens the door to her bedroom from its typical cracked position just large enough for the tortoiseshell to come and go during the nighttime hours as she pleased and didn't feel the need to wake her from a dead sleep. She walks through her small living room, past the entertainment set with a twenty-five inch television and dvd player, past her coffee table, and past her black futon and into the kitchen where she stored Chika's kibble. As she reached up to the cupboard, she turns to look at the time display on her electric oven. 8:30am. No doubt that the café would be quite busy at the time, but that would be alright. Turning her full attention back to the task at hand, urged on by the sensation of silken fur again her pajama pants as the feline rubbed again Beylani in what she could only describe as refined excitement."You are just so insistent, aren't you? I'll only be one more moment", she says to the cat through an affectionate smile as she opens the jar to grab a single scoop of kibble. Closing the container, she then walks a few paces away to where the ceramic dishware sits on a checkered placement. There was still plenty of water in the one dish so when she pours the kibble into the empty food dish she stands back up straight, opening the jar and placing the scoop back in its proper place before closing the again and putting the jar in its spot amidst the various other canned goods. She closes the cupboard and smiles down to the eating feline happily crunching away on her kibble and then makes her way to the bathroom. It was time for a nice, hot shower before making the drive down to the café that had quickly become one of her favorite locations in Sacrosanct. Then again, it was one of the only two places she's visited in the past three days since having moved here from Willowhaven. There were still a few boxes left to unpack, but she was finally almost completely settled. At least, in the apartment. There was still so much has more to see and learn about this big city so unlike her hometown. Time would remedy that though, of this she was quite certain.

Beylani emerges from the bathroom, slender frame wrapped in a towel, hair dried and loosely curled as always. She moved to the bedroom and opens the sliding door to her closet. Hmmm. What to wear today... One would think that after a while, it wouldn't take so long to figure out which of the cleaned and neatly folded shirts she wanted to west today but it was always something she ended up having to sit and contemplate. It wasn't like she was trying to impress anyone really, although she can feel her thoughts drifting back to a certain someone she had encountered her first full day as a Sacrosanct resident... She quickly brushes the thought of the handsome dark haired man with fierce amber eyes aside. What were the odds? Finally, after having decided that it was "lazy day" and the theme of any decent day for lounging and having nowhere to be ought to be "comfortable", right? And so she shifts through her clothes to find her favorite baby blue v-neck shirt and white capris. As she is getting dressed, having been carefully to pick undergarments that would not be easily seen through these articles of clothing, the long-haired tortoiseshell walks leisurely into the room and leaps up onto the edge of the bed, long tail curling nearly over her front paws as she seemed to give Beylani an appraising look."What do you think? Suitable for a small trip to Inner Sanctum?", she asks Chika with a smile as she moves over to the side of the bed to stroke the feline's head and receives a deep purr in reply as her best friend presses into the loving gesture."I'm glad you approve. I'll be back after a while, okay? If you behave I might bring some fresh salmon home for dinner", and with these words spoken - amusement glittering in baby blue eyes -, she walks out of the bedroom and grabs her keys, phone, and wallet (after a moment's contemplation and deciding she doesn't want to bring a purse or her nikon today) from the kitchen counter. She then moved to the front door, slips on her white flip-flops waiting for her by the entrance to her humble abode, and makes a quiet exit while locking the door behind her.

After a twenty minute's drive through traffic and stoplights and still somehow managing to get turned around on her way to the east side of Sacrosanct, she is able to find a parking place a block away from the always busy and busting café. The chiming of bells announce her entrance, but as always no one pays the young woman any mind, too caught up in their books, newspaper, or quiet conversations to even bother with a quick upwards glance. She is greeted by a smiling barista, the same woman who has helped her the last two times Beylani had come here, asking for her order. The blonde girl takes a moment to contemplate what it was that sounded good today while pulling the wallet out of her front-right pocket, reaching in to grab a five-dollar bill."A small caramel macchiato, please", Beylani finally decides as the woman takes her money and informs her that her drink will be ready in just a moment. She offers the barista a courteous nod and moves to stand by the pick-up counter, catching herself looking over to that table nearest the window in the far corner of the café. Of course he wouldn't be there. She chides herself silently and when the barista hands her the warm paper cup she moves over to that very table and sits in the chair with its back to the brick wall. Taking a slow sip of her coffee, she ushers a contented sigh as she looks out the window to watch as the sea of faces and cars move to wherever it is the day will carry them.
