East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

The woman was manicured to a tea, her beauty astounding as she stepped into the cafe as if it were her own. It felt like anywhere she went is where she would belong, the confidence pouring off of her in waves. Alexis was instantly green with envy but more than that, she felt insecurity like a snake biting at her ankles as she clung to Alexander's shirt in question. Who was this woman and why did she look amused? Alexis felt confusion and curiosity burning in her eyes as she stared down the woman, her curiosity only heightened when the woman spoke in a different language and flicked the lock on the door. Alexis straightened instantly, not sure whether it was a threat or something else. She fought the urge to step in front of Alexander and defend him, knowing he was more than capable of defending himself. Instead her fingers twitched at her sides hidden behind the register counter, aching to call her weapons into being. But she held back, looking at Alexander as if for permission.

The woman strode further into the cafe after a moment and Alexis could feel her eyes sizing her up as if looking at a dress in a store. She felt way underdressed suddenly and felt her hands skimming her waistline awkwardly as she held the woman's gaze as neutrally as she could. Finally the woman turned to Alexander, cooing his name like she'd said it all her life, asking who his friend was. Alexis felt her internal hackles rise, her fingers twitching again as she glanced up at Alexander once more. It suddenly felt hard to believe that just moments before they had been sharing a tender moment at the register with his hand eating a fire into her hip with that single touch, making her yearn for darker nights and softer sheets to wrap up in with him. Then he had asked her about the date and told her that he wouldn't put her on a horse with a bad temperment, whatever that is. She huffed as if offended but she couldn't make herself even pretend to look mad when he leaned in to rub his nose against hers in affection.

She giggled and pushed at his chest playfully. Then he told her if she did suck at it, she could ride with him and she squirmed as if already picturing the sensations of riding with him, their bodies touching on a moving object. "I doubt I'd be able to focus enough on the whole sitting there and looking pretty." She murmured slyly, her brow arching up as her eyes sparked with mischief. When she mentioned wearing less clothing, she could see the question in his eyes as he asked and she grinned, all too willing to play an image of her in sexy linguire for his eyes only, knowing he would see the image in his own head from trying to read her thoughts. It seemed to be second nature to him, especially when he was touching her and she had slowly gotten used to the fact that it would happen, using it instead to tease him further. Of course that was about when the faschionista red head came through the door talking in exotic languages and purring at Alexander like a cat on catnip.

He introduced her as Alexis but nothing more and it would be a lie to say it didn't sting a little. She felt her whole body stiffen and she even took a small step away from him, that made all the easier because he'd stopped touching her altogether when the woman walked in. He called her his daughter but Alexis knew enough that their relationship was a lot more complicated than that. There was definitely that protective instinct between the two but it was much more than a father and daughter. She couldn't quite pinpoint it which made her all the more uncomfortable. And then to make matters more awkward, Alexander jumped into a different language as well, asking Anastasia a question. She could tell they were talking about something serious but that was all she could grasp. Sighing softly, she stepped over to the coffee maker, making 3 cups as quietly as she could before walking back over to set 2 down in front of Alexander and Anastasia. Putting on her most polite smile, she looked up at her.

"How about some coffee while we get to know each other? Sounds like you two have some catching up to do and I can't learn a different language all in one night so I'd feel better if I knew a little bit more about you." She tried to keep her tone as friendly as possible, her eyes still burning with curiosity more than anything as she pulled up a chair to the counter and sat down with confidence. This should be interesting.
