East

The east side of the city is the very heart of Sacrosanct - it's unique skyline is a clash between modern sky rises and small Victorian-inspired storefronts. In the heart of downtown, the sleek colored glass buildings reign supreme though their old-world roots can be seen in the most peculiar places from the lamp post styled electric street light to the stone sidewalks. The old world architecture slowly returns the further from downtown you travel, however. It's here that magic thrives, it hums in every stone and can be felt in every breath. Often, newcomers to the city may become overwhelmed by such sensations but, eventually, it becomes an ever-present feeling that's hardly noticed.

TRYING NOT TO WASTE MY TIME

Surprising that Benjamin should have ended up going to college all on his own, his decision to go to school to pursue higher education when he ran away from school on his very first day. During his life before school, Benjamin hardly left his mom's side. A typical day would be her waking him up with the prompting of having a bowl of lucky charms or honey nut Cheerios for breakfast while maybe some cartoons would be put on (if it was a Saturday morning), though typically it was a weekday and therefore, for his mother, a work day. So after he finished eating and his mom washed his bowl and spoon, they would pick out an outfit for him to wear, skinny jeans, some sort of t shirt before lacing up a pair of converse that she had multiple colors of for him. The the mother and son pair would whoosh off to whatever job his mother had, taking Benjamin along for the ride as always. His mother cleaned houses for a living, and really Benji thought it was a pretty cool gig, after all, he always got to go with her, sometimes some of the houses had pets that he could play with, or some of them had really big screen tvs that he would have to turn his head from side to side to catch which characters were talking. And one house, the Settons, the old lady would always be home and she almost always had a bake good or two for Benjamin, patting his head and saying what a good young man he was. To Benjamin, his mom had the best job in the whole world.

Of course, not all the people his mother worked for were so kind, but always, his mother seemed to be able to smile despite the adversity, and for that he would always admire her strength. It is the same sort of strength that comes from Elain, even having only just met her.

Eyes flicker to the side every few seconds as her own icy blue gaze seems to burrow into him, as if she were looking right through him, into his very core, and Benjamin isn't quite sure what she would find. Benji didn't think he was quite worthy, nor fascinating enough for her to be looking at him with such a bright and inquisitive interest.

Amber eyes snap back to her own of blue as laughter tubules forth from her feminine lips, like the way sand grains slip through loose fingers cupped together. His face remains serious, but he leans towards her for a moment, and though solemn and though he is taller, for some reason, as his face moves mere inches from hers, Benjamin is not at all threatening, least of all to someone as bold as Elain. "Well, good," he states simply before putting the space between the two young adults back into place.

The wind is refreshing and bright after the strong warmth brought on by the many machines pouring out caffeine and steamed milk in the coffee shop. There is the feeling of winter approaching that lingers in the air that is not yet cold enough to freeze inside his lungs, throat, and nostrils. As he holds the paper out for her to retrieve from his hands, he feels her fingertips brush against his palm and instinctively pulls his hand back, caught off guard by the electricity of the touch. "Er.." he mutters for a moment, tensing if only slightly before relaxing as her lips turn upwards once more into that bright smile that Benjamin would come to associate with the very essence of who Elain was. "Well, I don't do much writing so I probably wouldn't be any help," he says, even though he knows that inside his backpack rests a journal filled with pages of scrawling in Benjamin's own handwriting. Still, he wasn't just about to lead with 'I write in a journal,' to a cute girl who has apparently seen him on campus.

She laughs at his brief attempt at comedy, and Benji takes note of her humor, no matter how involuntary of a notice it is. Shakespeare also catches his attention, amber eyes widening slightly in surprise. It wasn't often he came across another who has found enjoyment in the seemingly ancient literature as he has. Not that he had much choice in that matter. When he was little, Benji's mother couldn't afford all the popular children's books, so he was left with bedtime stories about the crazed King Richard, the brave Hamlet, and the lovestruck Miranda. "I like Shakespeare," he gives as a response, though that is the only verbal recognition he gives her, preferring just to give a nod of his head in recognition of her desire to pursue drama.

Window. She says and so he takes a step or two backwards to allow the girl some room to move passed him and into the furthest seat. As she settles herself into the uncomfortable bus chair, he plops himself down into the aisle seat beside her, he moves over slightly, both in an attempt to give her as much room as he could and being slightly uncomfortable with the sudden closeness of someone, who in fact he had to remind himself, was actually a near total stranger to him.

He's cuter when he smiles. As she speaks those words, Benjamin almost makes it a point to scowl even more. "Not likely," he states, his voice toned, though holding just the smallest remnants of jesting, like the water that refuses to leave a glass even after you pour it out. He lets silence cast over them, though Benjamin doubts it will last long due to the talkative nature of the girl beside him. He finds himself counting in his head until the moment she breaks the silence, as easy as thing ice cracking underneath a foot. And there it is, her bright voice (that Benjamin surprisingly doesn't find annoying in the slightest, but is rather enjoying) bursts out once again as he turns to face her with his response. "It's pre-med classes," he states simply. "I'd like to be a surgeon one day," he says, voice bland, as if he didn't have mounds and mounds of work ahead of him to accomplish that goal.

As the bus comes to a halt at the school, Benjamin gets up from his seat, leaving room for Elain to pass by him before he follows her out the door. "Well, I'm going this way, which way are you headed?" He asks as his amber eyes fall to her once more. Whatever way she went, he had a sneaky feeling that the corners would round to a circle and they would see each other once more.
